I started cross listing to eBay and am SO glad I took the plunge!!!! I really made sure to educate myself on shipping before I started - I go about it in the same way you described. I’m glad you’ve found so much success in expanding your platforms!
I noticed you use a lot of stock photos on EBay. Just a warning that they will often penalize you for copyright and you are typically banned 3 days for a first offense. After that they can opt to suspend an account. Also be aware of using any type of trademarked product names. For instance using Velcro gets you in suspension prison pretty quick. So you have to say something like loop and hook closure instead. It really depends on which companies pressure EBay about copyright issues. Just a heads up so you can avoid a zing.
I understand using stocks pictures making the ones who took the pictures upset but you would think using a products name in a good way , you would think manufacturers would like the endorsements.
@@robinmoody7425 I don't understand the legal details of it but if a brand name becomes a generic term (like velcro, bandaid, or xerox) it can undermine the company's ability to legally protect their brand name from counterfeiters, etc. because those people can claim that they are just using a common term for the product. If they want to take a company to court, they need to be able to demonstrate that they are actively trying to protect their trademark. Of course, it's Ebay's choice to actively pursue that and not just make it Velcro's responsibility to search the site and send cease and desist letters to individual sellers.
I absolutely LOVE how well done and organized your video is here. Super helpful. Going over all the details in between is what so many of us really want and need. (excel spreadsheets that show how you keep track of all your business transactions, the equipment needed and used, how you figure out whether a buy is worth the buy and if it will yield a good profit, etc.)
Holy macaroni! That was SO helpful!!!! I started as an eBay seller on the dark ages... (2001 ish). Then didn’t do any online selling until I started my poshmark closet a year and a half ago. I just dipped my pinky toe back into eBay and am planning to cross list more this year. Lemme tell ya...I am SO GLAD I’m not the only person who has no idea how much eBay is going to invoice me ahead of time. 🤣🤣 You are just the sweetest, super insightful and so dang smart! I appreciate you!!!💕
eBay has announced a change I believe. From what I understand they will take the fees out at the time of sale and eliminating the looming invoice. A great change! I am not sure when it goes into effect.
The only thing that I would add is that the first 50 listings on eBay are free each month. Thus, you can list 50 new items each month without incurring a listing fee. The fees only go into effect when you list 51+ items per month......assuming that you don’t have a store.
eBay con: buyers not paying for the item. I have had my last 5 or 6 sales end up with the buyer not paying for the items in which eBay opens a claim against the buyer for non payment while still holding my items hostage pending a resolution payment from buyer. In which for all those cases no payments received. I wish eBay would adopt the same procedure like Poshmark were payment from buyer is instant and if funds not available your item is not being held hostage!
Before you ship priority by weight ( outside of flat rate envelopes) try Pirate ship cubic size priority shipping. I have shipped 3lb items to CA for under $9. I always place it in a bag and it is MUCH cheaper than priority boxes. ❤️
Mogi Beth, thank you for taking the time to make this. It is so informative, focused, and well organized. I can't wait to look at your other videos. I'm opening a Poshmark closet in the next few weeks and learning everything I can. I have a mixed history with Ebay. Back in the dark ages, I made decent money selling handmade accessories until I got pushed out by resellers with cheap Chinese imports. A few years ago, I tried selling small Antiques/Collectables. Other than a few major bonanzas it was often just "throwing stuff down a well." I think without a store, paying for promotion, and a large number of good reviews it is an uphill struggle. I may try again with clothes but I'm going to get established and comfortable with Poshmark first. I'm really impressed with how friendly and generous Poshmark sellers are with us beginners. Thanks, again!
Thank you... omg so many questions I had floating in my brain were answered in this video! thank you for taking the time to share this is really valuable
Poshmark Sharing. Hate it glad it exists. I hired a VA to share for me 2 weeks ago on a consistent basis and my sales are 75% higher. I feel it makes it fair and I have a better chance as a fairly new Clothing Reseller this helps me be seen and not lost in the mix. Love your videos!
Ive wondered about doing this, how big is your closet? I wondered what cost would be for my closet to be shared, I have 1300 active listings at the moment and it takes me a hour to share about 1200 of the items, the last 100 are items I will probably just donate soon so dont want to put in the extra time to share them.
Hey Morgan - I just wanted to comment regarding what you had said about the way eBay structures payment not making sense. I've had an eBay account since 1997, and even worked for eBay for a few years. When I worked we were told to think of eBay's software architecture kind of like a little log cabin. The log cabin is where it started and as it grew and grew wings, mansions, etc were tagged on to said "Little log cabin." Though eBay has evolved some on the back end since that time, the web site itself hasn't changed to very much in 20 odd years. When eBay started people didn't pay when they purchased and item mainly because they had to write a check, mail it, wait for it to clear, then the seller shipped the item. Clunky. Many sellers then started using Paypal back when it was Elon Musk's baby (And you got %5 interest, which was really awesome). So many people were utilizing Paypal, eBay, which at the time was a Internet Cinderella Story and making oodles of money, bought Paypal. However even with this they really didn't update anything to integrate payments. You bought an item. You paid for it on Paypal when you got around to it. That changed a bit with "Buy it now." However obviously with offers, you can accept them and the person buying can take a small millennia to pay for it. Does eBay need a facelift to stay competitive? Yes, likely. However with the infrastructure still being mostly built around the metaphorical "Tiny cabin" I don't know how that would happen without a major over hall, which would likely be a massive amount of time and money. That said, even as a Gen X'er and an early adopter to eBay (I still have feedback when people could just say "Hey I like your stuff" without buying anything) I still like Posh more. I've resold part time off and on from the beginning, and got so burnt out on eBay between where I saw they were lacking in customer service, being more buyer than seller oriented, the fraud, the games, and the dramas in the reseller community I was just.... done. I had a Posh account, but never really used it till recently. Yes, they take a bigger chunk of money, but it's a breath of fresh air in comparison, for me at least.
Bundling is also pretty easy on Ebay also, even though it is not clear that it is an option. I had a buyer buy multiple items from my ebay, and they were automatically bundled together and only 1 shipping label was created for them. It isn't really advertised, and I had no clue it was an option until it happened.
Yes, I have both bought and sold items that have been "bundled" and eBay just does it for you. If it doesn't you can just ask the seller to invoice you or if you are the seller you can invoice the buyer...easy peasy!
You are so fluent and knowledgeable. You have all the info on the top of your head. Great info but I’m still so torn with where I should branch out. I’m currently on Poshmark and dabble in Mercari and EBay. Think I’ll try to find you on Poshmark. You seem to know what you’re doing!!! Thanks so much...Stephanie
Thank you , Thank you, Thank you!!!! Just starting out it’s very discouraging but I’m going to keep pressing on and build my closet 45 items just ain’t gonna cut it huh lol!!! You are very knowledgeable and very kind and I last saw your video you were pregnant how’s that beautiful baby awesome supportive husband I hope to post a video one day I know it would help my sales but very camera shy see you hopefully on the tube soon xoxo
Crosslisting totally works for me. Thank goodness for eBay people pay the asking price and none of this sharing & offer stuff. eBay keeps things going that is for sure.
I learned so much from this video! This is the second time I heard of Tradesy and glad I did. I was super lucky and sourced some vintage Dior nightgowns and an official Dior fashion book, and it inspired me to be on the look out for those higher end brand names. I feel like I'm the only person not a fan of Poshmark because as a buyer, it was confusing and the interface is too clunky. I love the easy design of Mercari or Depop, Instagram's twin. I want to start making my own reselling videos too but haven't built the courage yet to take that first step but I don't have anyone to talk to about my new business venture. I need to make it as a full time reseller, so this video was also super inspiring. New sub love.
You don't necessarily need to weigh your items for shipping in Mercari. It will automatically calculate shipping for you (most of the things I've sent are $4.99 for shipping). The only time I've needed to calculate shipping was for very small items to see if I could get a lower shipping price estimate, but I have a kitchen scale so I was able to weigh everything easily.
Sooooo helpful!!!! I’m on eBay Mercari and posh and still learned things!!!! Super comprehensive overview!!!!! And learned a lot about tradsey!!!! Will be checking that one out also!!!
I sell actively on eBay and my fees are not free because I sell everything “buy it now”....because honestly, nobody wants to bid on items anymore… People don’t have the patience for that… people are so used to Amazon delivering their products in 2 to 3 business days that you have to compete with people who will find the same items actually on Amazon. And by the way you can sell used items on Amazon as well it’s just not as noticeable in the listing on Amazon and you have to actually go to “other buying options“ to actually see people selling items that are used on Amazon. I personally do not advise that people sell used items on Amazon because most people look at Amazon as they are buying brand new... The only other thing that I’ve seen is high priced technology items that you could buy refurbished by the manufacturer. But with that being said I sell things a lot faster when it’s a “buy it now” price therefore unable to get rid of things out of my house a lot faster. Lately I’ve been cross listing some items into Poshmark. What I don’t like about Poshmark is that they force you to make every photo a square image which means all of the photos I have that’s already been taken of my products I have to actually spend extra time to edit the images by adding extra background to make them square and a lot of items need to be photographed horizontally and just doesn’t fit into a square size so I really wish they would change the sizing requirements on Poshmark. What I am impressed with with Poshmark is that I had no idea that I had 740 followers and I didn’t realize because I’m not that active on it that people were sharing my listings which is just amazing to know there’s people out there helping me sell my own items because a lot of them are women that are posting things on Pinterest and it’s helping their Pinterest growth too. On eBay there’s a lot more products and people take better photos of items on eBay. So another problem I have with Poshmark is that they’re trying to make it like you just without your phone and you take creative photos of a product but there are so many people that are not taking the proper photos especially of purses and so I have to spend extra time messaging somebody when I’m interested in buying some thing to ask them to please take more photos so I can see what the front or the back of the bag looks like and it should be a standard but these people don’t know that! So it becomes very frustrating as a purchaser on Poshmark to see all these listings that just don’t compete to the way a real eBay seller takes their photography and photo quality seriously.
Ebay usually gives you the first 50 items free per month to list if you don't have a store. Throughout the month they run "specials" where they will offer anywhere from 100-500 free listings for a week or two. When it is time for your items to relist, the next month, they still give you the first 50 free, but charge for everything else.
I've always been mildly curious about your name, Mogi. Had a sweet chuckle at myself the other day when Nicole State introduced you as Morgan. My youngest son is Morgan and we called him Mogi all the time when he was little. It never occurred to me that your given name was Morgan. How quickly we forget....Always enjoy your videos and knowledge transfer!
Love your videos, very informative and motivating. Been watching so many of your videos past few days, I believe you said somewhere you used a fake return address. Question is, when a buyer wants to make a return, does the package go to the fake address??
Moving Beth this was an excellent video. Great information!! Can you do a video on how you cross list, which app you use, etc? I have several items in Poshmark that I would like to list on eBay, but really don’t want to retake the photos.
HI! I just subscribed to your channel and have been enjoying the information you put it out. Did you get around to making an ebay video that goes into more detail about the ways in which you can open an account? I would love to learn more about that. 😊 thanks for everything you do 💛
I agree about ebay.. Why all the boxes to check. All of that info can be included in your description. It's time consuming if you miss a box and keep getting kicked back to look for what you missed.
question: do you use a cross listing service?if so a vid on that would be fab. ( I guess I better search your site, you may have one...) so much awesome info, love LOVE you for your educational vids!!! thanks a million
I have been selling on Poshmark for a few years and have been thinking about cross listing on Mercari and eBay but the shipping scares me. Thanks so much for the wonderful information!!!!
I used to sell on ebay all the time when I worked at a pawn shop and it left a very bad taste in my mouth lol. I think selling clothes would be easier and cheaper on there than selling electronics (which is what I mostly sold as an employee) so I might give it a try once again. Thanks for all the advice!
I'm on all but Tradsey! Started on eBay many years ago and just got into Mercari and PM in January. Doing decent on Mercari, only 2 sales on PM right now. Haven't finished crosslisting old items from eBay yet, so much to be done!
I believe eBay give you 50 listing a month free if you do not have a store that is what I use (plus free listing promotions usually at least once a month) and once you establish yourself on eBay you get discounted shipping if you pay and print label thru eBay (Note I have been selling on eBay off and on for 11years) Just some FYI
You said you use pirate ship on Mercari and I think you said Tradesy. I use pirate ship on Mercari as well. You have to offer free shipping in order to use pirate ship or any other shipping service on Mercari, correct? You can’t charge shipping and use pirate ship, you have to use Mercari label, is that correct? Thanks. Really like your explanations and input.
Oh, that's a great question. I offer free shipping on Tradesy, Mercari, and Ebay which I forgot to mention. But you are probably right about that!! If you want to charge for shipping, you probably have to ship through their platform.
I always shopped on Poshmark - so much easier to find something as a buyer. Ebay is a hot mess I feel when searching for an item. But I do sell on Ebay and have success. But I enjoy buying and selling the most on Poshmark.
Your videos are so professional, really like content. You were going to list below the Instagram of the lady that showed you the shipping method. It isn't there.
I've just started with Ebay it takes you forever to list your item. And then the shipping setup is too long. Poshmark gets an A on that!. I am also on Poshmark and true the share is crazy! And that doesn't mean that you will get a sale. I've never sold anything on Mercari my stuff just sat there crying! LOL I thought about Tradesy it's just so much stuff that I want to get rid of!! ijs I'm still looking into that.
Sharing is exhausting, on Poshmark, low ball offer frustrating, Mercari the cheapness on this form, everyone wants something for nothing. Mercari having to deal with shipping.
The problem with eBay is that there are so many fake buyers and scammers and Poshmark it’s hard to sell for what an item is worth Also how much have you spent vs earned
This comment for eBay 😂... “it is kinda ugly interface...” that is so true, long before I started reselling I thought that too... you made my day 😂😂😂😂, but like you said once you get the hang of it then it is an enjoyable platform! Great video as always!!! 💜
I had a few problems with customers and Ebay sided with me. I hate Posh Mark. I have 400+ products and sell one a month if that. 1.) I sell more on Mercari 2.) Ebay is next
Tradesy take care of returns and you keep the money and Tradesy will resell, but definitely selling higher prices and hate 21 days wait for your money.
You were saying that Poshmark allows 15 of something, but I couldn’t make out the word any of the times you said it. This may be just an issue of it being a new term to me. Could someone help me out and fill in my blank? 😬
What would you say the seller fee percentage is for ebay once you factor in paypal fees? Also, is there a way to make sales on ebay without paypal transactions in order to avoid paypal fees?
I have LOTS of jewelry that weighs less that 1 pound each. which platform should I use to reduce shipping? $7.45/pkg from Poshmark is way too high for a single ring or chain. That discourages sellers. Which would you use?
I am a new reseller, poshmark only. Can someone explain the discount shipping offers. From start to end. I don’t really understand when it can be offered and does the seller have to pay the difference between the discounted offer and $7.11.
I rather sell on poshmark or mercari. Tradesy is a bad company. The employees are allowed sell items on their platform and ban other sellers that sell similar things. A total conflict of interest. Talk about shady company...tsk tsk
Mogi beth! Went to the outlets last weekend and found a amazing jacket that I never would’ve known was a good brand without you and resold it for $65!
I started cross listing to eBay and am SO glad I took the plunge!!!! I really made sure to educate myself on shipping before I started - I go about it in the same way you described. I’m glad you’ve found so much success in expanding your platforms!

When it is time for your items to relist, the next month, they still give you the first 50 free, but charge for everything else.
Really great analysis. Thank you for sharing!
Helpful video, thanks! I agree on all the pros/cons of Poshmark.
Yay. Someone’s listening. Go girl!!!
yay!! Thank you!! 🤗
PayPal on eBay is 2.9% +.30 per transaction for clothing!!! 🙄🙄🙄
thank you!!!
Ebay only holds your sales for three months! So print your monthly reports.
Moving Beth this was an excellent video. Great information!! Can you do a video on how you cross list, which app you use, etc? I have several items in Poshmark that I would like to list on eBay, but really don’t want to retake the photos.
Thanks for the video! Random question, what lipstick do you use? Love the color.
Can’t wait to watch!! This looks super informational :)
yay!! thank you!
I know I'm a little late but mercari also charges a 20.00 processing fee when selling items.
FANTASTIC video‼️‼️
Thank you, I really appreciate your USEFUL content😊🤗
💗😊thank you!!!
Awesome video! Thank you for all the info!
thank you!!!
question: do you use a cross listing service?if so a vid on that would be fab. ( I guess I better search your site, you may have one...) so much awesome info, love LOVE you for your educational vids!!! thanks a million
Fabulous comparison. Wish u had included Etsy as I am going to be selling ALOT of OOAK items. But it would have made the CID too long.
I have been selling on Poshmark for a few years and have been thinking about cross listing on Mercari and eBay but the shipping scares me. Thanks so much for the wonderful information!!!!
Great content! BTW on eBay I usually get a bunch of free listings so if i have less than 100 listings I rarely pay a listing fee.
Mogi you're the best. thank you!
These videos are my answer to EVERYTHING! Love it. What’s your take on sharing to Twitter?
Really love this video! Thank you for this!
EBay has the search and notify feature for buyers too like what you mentioned Mechari has.
I used to sell on ebay all the time when I worked at a pawn shop and it left a very bad taste in my mouth lol. I think selling clothes would be easier and cheaper on there than selling electronics (which is what I mostly sold as an employee) so I might give it a try once again. Thanks for all the advice!
Very knowledgeable, very informative. Thank you
I'm on all but Tradsey! Started on eBay many years ago and just got into Mercari and PM in January. Doing decent on Mercari, only 2 sales on PM right now. Haven't finished crosslisting old items from eBay yet, so much to be done!
PLEASE make your shipping video ASAP!!!🤠
Okay!!! Will do!
Thank you for the information. Very helpful. 💜😁👍
This is SO helpful, thank you!
Great video!! Thank you! How many active listings do you tend to have on Posh?
Do you list all the items for the same price when cross listing? Or do you take into consideration the different fees and shipping costs?
And I tease Ebay reps they need to take over Utility Co and Cell Phone Companies customer service departments. They are AWESOME!
Thank you for sharing this information.
How many hours a week do you shop and spend time listing items across all platforms?
Fantastic information. thank you!!
yay! thank you!!
Hi Mogi Beth, I am struggling with which thermal mailing label printer to get. Which one do you use?
Question: Do you suggest a dress form size 2/4 or 6/8 or larger??? I am ordering some things thru your Amazon link.
I have the 2/4, which works well for most sizes except plus size!
So you can't sell cheaper clothes on Tradesy only hight end?
You can!! But the $7.50 fee for anything under $50 makes it much less profitable for items $35 and under compared to all the other platforms.
I really want to try Mercado but am still so confused on how to ship, could you do a video explaining please?
Mercari * oops lol
yes!! I plan on doing a video explaining how I ship for all three!
This content is super helpful!
Your videos are so professional, really like content. You were going to list below the Instagram of the lady that showed you the shipping method. It isn't there.
Why not threadup or selling at Platos Closet?
Ebay allow buyers to return item from up 30-60 days.i receive return all the time.Ebay automatically accept buyers return requests.
Hi Mogi, Great video as always! Planning to start selling on Mercari. Do you have a NEW USER code I can use? Thanks. :-)
The problem with eBay is that there are so many fake buyers and scammers and Poshmark it’s hard to sell for what an item is worth
Also how much have you spent vs earned
Hi! Is there a promo code for listperfectly ? I love your videos and I remember you mentioned this once
Which lip color are you wearing?
It's the old Bite Amuse Bouche formula in Sake!
@@MogiBeth Go figure- I have that in my work bag right now.
This comment for eBay 😂... “it is kinda ugly interface...” that is so true, long before I started reselling I thought that too... you made my day 😂😂😂😂, but like you said once you get the hang of it then it is an enjoyable platform! Great video as always!!! 💜
😂😂😂 I love you ebay but you’re kind of ugly lol
I had a few problems with customers and Ebay sided with me. I hate Posh Mark. I have 400+ products and sell one a month if that.
1.) I sell more on Mercari
2.) Ebay is next
Tradesy take care of returns and you keep the money and Tradesy will resell, but definitely selling higher prices and hate 21 days wait for your money.
You were saying that Poshmark allows 15 of something, but I couldn’t make out the word any of the times you said it. This may be just an issue of it being a new term to me. Could someone help me out and fill in my blank? 😬
Which sites similar to this one could you recommend to me? Thank you
What would you say the seller fee percentage is for ebay once you factor in paypal fees? Also, is there a way to make sales on ebay without paypal transactions in order to avoid paypal fees?
I have LOTS of jewelry that weighs less that 1 pound each. which platform should I use to reduce shipping? $7.45/pkg from Poshmark is way too high for a single ring or chain. That discourages sellers. Which would you use?
You can offer reduced shipping, free shipping,
I am a new reseller, poshmark only. Can someone explain the discount shipping offers. From start to end. I don’t really understand when it can be offered and does the seller have to pay the difference between the discounted offer and $7.11.
I have an Ebay store and I have to pay in insertion fee for anything over 100 listings, cause I have an entry level store . 🥴
Which cross listing software do you use?
What do you decide to cross list where?
I rather sell on poshmark or mercari. Tradesy is a bad company. The employees are allowed sell items on their platform and ban other sellers that sell similar things. A total conflict of interest. Talk about shady company...tsk tsk
