    Here in MN (Fillmore County) about 18 month ago we started a bible study at an amish person's house. The bishops came by within weeks to shut it down. They told all their members they would shun them if they continued goibg to that study. Approximately 30 people showed up for the first study. All but one person kept coming despite what the bishops told them. Praise God!

    I’m from Homerville Ohio swartzies are quite a group of Amish they used to work for us at our produce auction they would buy and sell and we employ them I came to understand what they would say to us in their Deutsch and the fact that we all go to hell except them I also came to realize that one of the Amish that left or ““ jump the fence, said that if we wanted to change some thing in their community, it would be easier to step in front of a freight train, and then it would be to change something in their church or in our community to make their community better such as the red triangles my father when the produce auction first started in order to write checks to them for their produce they had to have Social Security numbers so they could have bank accounts and taxes for us, that was a huge uproar the men in the community did not want the women in the community to deal with any of the business in the office Unless they are a little bit more progressive I’ve had Amish babysitters during the auction so I could run it. I also lived in the same community that went against the judge who didn’t know what to do with the same Amish in the blinker situation, in ashland Ohio he ended up taxing their land because he knew that going to jail for giving s fines, wouldn’t help, because again going against the Amish would be like stepping in front of a freight train. I’ve never known such a group of men that would sit around and chew the fat so to say again ““ gossip more than anyone in my entire life, and that was only to decide if things were good or bad for the church And our part with running a business having to do solely with Amish there were many churches within our area all Swarts and trooper but all with the same or similar beliefs so I can understand where you’re coming from when you use the example of gloves, if I had to be born Anything in this world right now I wouldn’t want to be born as a woman in a Swarts and trooper Amish home. It would be almost impossible to leave and unless you had help on the outside, which is very very rare, you wouldn’t make it. I did talk into text. So I hope this turned out ok. I watch you while I drive. I have a great distain for the Amish in our community. What they did to our family business goes against everything a Christian would do. They hide behind their religion to make money hide from the law and control others.

    As silly as this may sound, I was previously (several years ago) under the impression that the Amish made stuff of a higher quality than I could ever hope to make. I guess I assumed they made every single thing from scratch and while I'm sure some definitely do not everyone does or is able to.
    This gives me more confidence in my own crafts/making things because if the Amish can use store bought materials and still make something that most people will see as a better quality then that means I probably can learn to do similarly in time! Also, I have a friend now who is Native American and he can literally craft circles around any Amish person he meets. When he gets upset with his parents (he's younger than me and about 24 years old) he goes off and stays in the woods for awhile and catches squirrels and rabbits and fishes for food. He made a whole Native village in his backyard and even has a garden in the traditional way (three sisters style if anyone here knows about that). I've seen him hunt and make things out of the hide, it's really cool. He can pick up rocks and make arrowheads and make a bow out of sticks and twine, dude is great. It's almost a shame that the Amish especially the old order ones are clouded by religion because I think some people might like to live that way minus the religious influences and would thrive too.

    Thank you brother Eli for educating the rest of us on the Amish culture. They may make and grow a lot of their own stuff, but in a world without greenbacks, Amish would struggle greatly, I would think. They rely on cash heavily, and we, as a society, are swiftly shifting into a cashless society. Could you maybe give your thoughts on how the Amish might continue in such a society? It would be a great lesson for everyone to know what the Amish would do in such a scenario. God bless and stay safe!

    • @TheAwesomeTruthofTT
      @TheAwesomeTruthofTT Год назад +1

      Contrary to common misconception, there is no federal law stating that a private business, a person, or a government organization must accept currency or coins for payment. Private businesses are free to create their own policies on whether they accept cash, unless there is a specific state law which says otherwise. For example, a bus line may prohibit payment of fares in cents or dollar bills. In addition, movie theaters, convenience stores, and gas stations may refuse to accept large denomination currency as a matter of policy or safety.

    • @TheAwesomeTruthofTT
      @TheAwesomeTruthofTT Год назад +2

      The principal purpose of that statute is to ensure the nationwide acceptance of U.S. currency, consistent with constitutional language that reserves to Congress the power to create a uniform currency that holds the same value throughout the United States. While the statute provides that U.S. money is legal tender that may be accepted for the payment of debts, it does not require acceptance of cash payments, nor does it provide that restrictions cannot be imposed upon the acceptance of cash.

      When the Bible talks about not being of the World, it is about the moral and ethical issues, not material, like jeans, and cars!
      To have God at the centre, to be modest and live a life of grace and care for ur neighbour!
      It means not to worship the material things, not be greedy, envious, a drunk, etc!
      Having electricity, running water, cars , etc has little to do with worshipping God! The exception would be if people spent too much money for a fancy house or fancy cars, I believe!
      The way the TV evangelists live in their mansions, fancy airplanes, etc is very much of the World!

For me, these videos are very educational because when I was a kid, I wanted to be Amish. FBC to Parkview, to something else to something else to Lake City and the one before Lake City joined back up with Lake City to finally make LAKE Baptist Church a few years before I left in 2022.
    With my traveling with the US Navy and later my 20+ years of welding construction exposed me to people who live VERY different ways of life. I have always found the Amish interesting. Not so much for the religion, (I am Athiest.), but for the using the horses, ground-driven equipment and hand tools. I never realized there was that much difference between each group. Thank you for the education.
    I will stand with you to stand for our rights. Just sayin'.
    It isn't hard to start a new branch of religion.. L. Ron Hubbard, the Science Fiction writer is one who is quoted saying if a man wanted to become rich, he just needed to start a religion.

    Raised Catholic, but I haven't seen much of the altar for most of my grown-up years. Its still my fall back when I need to think about troubles or bust out some thank-yous to the almighty. There's still much comfort there when I look. Brother Eli is a refreshing find for me; he's really grown on me in positive ways.

    I live in Northern Indiana, I think the Amish up here must be pretty new order because they drive tractors, I went to elementary school with lots of Amish Kids (Middlebury), work in the same businesses the "worldly" do, and I also think a lot of the them are very wealthy too. Like seriously they have some of the fanciest farms and run some of the biggest attractions up here especially in Shipshewana and Middlebury. Crazy how different the ordinances are!

      Those groups in northern Indiana are not even considered Amish where I come from because of their advancement and modern technologies and they’re not even close to being the same as the original ordinance of Amish

      @@eliyoder491 Would they be considered more of a stricter Mennonite group where you are from? I must say when I started watching your channel I was really shocked with some of the rules you had to keep. I find it rather interesting how different secs go about the Amish tradition. I would really love to learn more about the Swartzentruber Amish and some of the other rules they had.

    I was born into the Mormon cult in 1963, and escaped at the age of 18. There seems to be many similarities with the Amish, they have articles of faith, and ordinances as well. One belief they have is that if you do everything, according to their ordinance that U2 can become a god. I they didn’t allow blacks to hold the priesthood until 1972 when they got a revelation from God to make that change. Even to this day, I struggle with the indoctrination that I went through. Like Eli, I struggled with drugs and alcohol and pornography until I was saved, and became born again. Thank you Jesus for your sacrifice!

    6 months ago, I moved to northern New York. My neighbors are from the Schartzentruber group. What you say is 100% true. Now I understand why they can't use flashlights, but the Amish across the county line can. The ordinance dictates everything, doesn't it!

    Yes, I agree. There is cults everywhere and that's what happens when things happen. People have the attendancy to follow other people. Not sure what the deal is there, but you'll find pride in a lot of churches today. You'll find self-love in a lot of churches today and it should be love for the Lord first and love for your fellow man. Afterwards God sets the way for us. It's up to us to follow

Here is one for you, I live near a Very Very large Global company that makes so many things that I cannot even begin to list them. One of the Products they Produce and Sell has to be Kosher.....How do they get it Kosher when they literally make it from chemicals you might ask?...Once a year a Rabbi, paid by the Company mind you.....Comes in... and the machines used in the process are blessed by the Rabbi....Making the product that comes out of them, Kosher!!!!! .....????

    As a teacher of young children (we are all children) I always said, “There is a reason for every rule.” Every rule must have the effect of making the classroom run smoother, help others, and/or help ourselves be better learners. For Christians the “rules” should make us be closer to God. I am always amazed at The Ten Commandments. God is pretty smart. They make life go smoother.

    Hi Eli ❤😊 greetings from the UK 🇬🇧
    I just love your content. I found you 1st through tiktok. Then found you again on YT shorts! And I'm just delighted to find (for my 3rd discovery! 😂) that you have long-form videos that I can enjoy watching and learn from! 🥰
    There are no amish ppl in the UK, as far as I'm aware of... And most people (including myself) here have very little knowledge of the amish community and their religion/way of life.
    To be perfectly honest I almost romanticised the amish... Because of my ignorance, of course! I thought it was just a group of people who wanted to live a simple life, grow their own crops, raise their own livestock, make their own clothes and raise big happy families!... Oh what a glorious ✨FANTASY✨ 😮😮😢😢
    Oh my goodness, how wrong I was and how ashamed I am that I didn't research sooner.
    It is what it is though and I'm grateful to know what I know now. And I have you to thank for opening my eyes, Eli ❤
    Please never, ever stop what you're doing. This is the Lords work, my friend.
    Sending you and your beautiful family all our love. From my family and myself ❤xxx

    Eli, thank you educating us about the various Amish sects while still being respectful of faith in general. True, you show hypocrisy and the problems of blindly following man-made rules, but you are careful not to insult people. You show how people come to follow those rules and you give history lessons as well. Thanks for that. It's an interesting line you crossed over, from one world to another, and I am grateful for your willingness to share. You give us reason to pray for real salvation for the Amish and other misleading beliefs. Thank you for your integrity.

    Ephesians 2:8-9 is two verse that kills most of the Cults that demands working for one own salvation. Thank you Eli. I near Middletown, Ohio, and pray for you, my dear Young Brother-in-Christ. At 75 I am now learning so much about the Amish, which I used to admire for their faith. Little did I know these people are all headed to Hell. May the Lord reach others in that group, especially people like you and your rebellious father. May the Lord continue to bless you, your family and your ministry.

    I have always wondered when they drew the line about rejecting modernity. In the 17th, 18th, & 19th centuries, no one had electricity or motor vehicles, and everyone wore long dresses and long sleeves. Modern convivences only began to be invented a hundred or so years ago, so their rejection must be a fairly recent thing. They were fine with new inventions such as the steel plow, but did they get together at some point and decide to start rejecting everything from that point on?
