    Thank you. I went through different possible errors and finally it was the flow meter. I just had to remove and reinsert the switch and everything worked fine again. Your video was very helpful.

    Thanks for posting this. Our Miele G6565 SCVi had an intermittent "Intake" fault. After finding your video I figured it was worth the $40 gamble to replace this part. On our model it's on the left side of the machine. So far it's looking good with 5 out of 5 successful runs.

    I had exactly the same problem with a 26 month-old Miele dishwasher and this video helped a lot. The "diode" is, in fact, a Reed switch. I resoldered the Reed switch and replaced it with the Reed switch from the proximity sensor of an alarm system. Problem solved. I am still waiting for the local Miele service center (Cape Town) to respond to my service request.

    Nice I believe the magnet trick on the wheel, a reposition of the flowmeter diode, or maybe just a disconnect reconnect has now allowed my dishwasher to cycle as normal.
    Mine was a 2002 Fisher Paykel Nemo

    Had similar problem. Miele G 638SC PLUS. Error code: 4 short 1 long. Temporary fix: Took flowmeter out. Ran 0,2A through the reedswitch, (9V Battery, 6v; 1,2W bulb and reedswitch in line. //You can use 12V supply a 12V; 2,4W bulb or 1,5V supply and 12V;21W bulb (blinkerbulb of car) as well//) and engaged the switch with a small magnet ~ 30 times. Bulb blinking reliably. Took flowmeter back in, works for now. Appropriate repair would be exchange the reedswitch. Individual reedswitch for soldering in seems to be under 5€.
    Thanks for the video!!!!

    thank you very much for this Scott. I just fixed mine! The component in the flow sensor (with the 61616 03 8 written on the PCB) turned out not to be a "diode", it was a "reed switch". A reed switch is meant to turn on if you put a magnet next to it (and turn off in the absence of a magnet). I tested my reed switch with a multimeter in continuity and a small magnet. It was broken, so I bought a new 1$ reed switch and replaced it with a soldering iron.

      What reed switch did you get? AC or DC? Mine isn't working and I'm not sure which one to get.

      These are the specs for the one I've got. This one fixed it for me but if you don't find exactly the same one, maybe it doesn't matter:
      Reed Switch 10W
      Switching Voltage Max:200VDC
      Switching Power Max:10W
      Contact Current Max:1.25A
      Contact Resistance Max:200mohm
      Body Material:Glass
      Body Diameter:2.2mm
      Body Length:10.5mm
      Lead Length:12mm
      Length:34.5mm
      Off Switching Time:0.1
      On Switching Time:0.5
      Operating Temperature Max:130°C
      Operating Temperature Min:-20°C

      My dishwasher wouldn't even start a cycle, after further diagnosis I realised it was the flow meter playing up. Took your advice and soldered in a new reed switch. The old reed switch had become brittle at one end and was no longer airtight. Cost a fraction of new part and easy solder for a novice. Great advice. Thank you so much!!

    Great video. I will try this and edit it with a comment if it worked. Yet if this is not my problem still great video, good and simple explanation. Thank you very much.

    Same problem on a 3 yr old Bosch, but it's not easy to replace the wheel. Put in a new reed switch, but the problem is now obvious, the wheel gets stuck intermittently. So I'll prob buy a new machine rather than spend money on a service call, as my experience is at my high level of usage, other things start to break around 5 years. Very annoying, but they are great for as long as they work.

      How old is your Miele?

    • @tudvalstone
      @tudvalstone 3 месяца назад

      @@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel It's a 3.5 year old Bosch, but from what I see in your video, the built is pretty similar. I would have to replace that whole plastic panel, which costs about $150, if I could even find it. One parts store was out of stock, but I don't think it's worth the cost anyway.

    Hi Scott, with the Miele flow meter, how can I test the magnetic diode to make sure it is good or faulty?

    • @ScottTheFixItGuyChannel
      @ScottTheFixItGuyChannel  Месяц назад

      You can use a multi-tester set for continuity that will beep.
      When you move a refrigerator magnet over it, you should hear a beep.

    Sometime they use reed switch which is sensitive to magnetic field and generats train pulses.

    I have this exact problem with my Miele G4203, unfortunately the solution doesn't seem to be the same. It has a flow sensor but it's higher up the plastic water intake waterfall and water travels through the water intake and past the flow sensor and the wheel spins. I removed the reed sensor and tasted it with a magnet and continuity and it seems to work fine. So I'm not sure what's going on.

    • @ScottTheFixItGuyChannel
      @ScottTheFixItGuyChannel  8 месяцев назад

      Does it pulse as it fills?
      I wonder if the screen on the inlet valve is dirty?

      I decided to replace the flow meter after finding the parts diagram and luckily it has worked. Many thanks for the video. Miele are a bit of a rip off though, £40 for a reed switch on a tiny PCB!

      I've got a 4203 too. I've removed the sensor and tested the wheel with a magnet and it moves freely so I'm going to order the replacement sensor board and hopefully it will solve my problem too. do you have an exploded diagram of the 4203 you can share?
