I still have my TH30 head, for a good reason. It just simply screams great tone. I havent gigged in years, but when I used it live, I made sure to use an EQ in the chain to cut through a band mix. For home use and recording not a requirement though.
I just acquired this amp about 6 months ago. It’s sounds great! I’m using it in an STP tribute along with a Synergy system using the BE-BB module. Covers all the STP tones needed!
I bought my TH30 back in 2017 and she sounds incredible for the style of music I play. While it’s not as versatile as my newer Mesa mini rectifier, I am a simple player with my setup, only a wah pedal in-line direct to a DAWS. I love the tone of the Orange with the gain at 1:15 o’clock and the shape knob turned all the way up to 5 o’clock with my PAFs for anything punk rock. I find myself always banana strumming barre chords all over the neck. You can hear the treble strings with so much clarity while maintaining the low end of the bass strings. It really is amazing. The ONLY knock on the TH30 (which is actually a testament to J&J tubes) is that if you read on the back of the head, it very clearly states the front row’s third preamp tube (looking from behind or the back from left to right) should be ECC81 while all the rest should be S12AX7/ECC83. Orange loaded that third pre-amp tube slot with an ECC83. I have yet to try swapping the 83 out for the 81 because I’ve never needed to even swap the friggen tubes in this head. I’ve put several hundred hours on these tubes. I gigged it with my band, pushed the hell out of those tubes rehearsing, but the amp still sounds incredible.

I have mine, so I don't need to buy one from PMT, but if you don't have one, buy one real quick, you will not be disappointed, I assure you. Full, gobby saturation, with ice pick clarity. The neighbours will love or hate you, depending on what music they like. But hell, we only live once, so gives a flying about the neighbours!
I have a Thunderverb 50 which I love, but it sounds like they dialed in the Shape knob here to be less in the scooped range. I keep mine all the way to the left (mid boosted). Otherwise it sounds like And Justice for All (which is fun sometimes).
I like how Dagan says 30 watts is more than enough to fill a decent sized venue...I have an OR-15, and even on 7 watts it is ungodly loud to where you can't turn it up a notch without waking up the neighborhood. You need an attenuator if you don't want to go deaf. Especially since your cabinet will be mic'ed in a venue, there's no need for super loud amps anymore.
@@brandonjackson5865 It really is awesome! Don't sleep on Orange clean sounds, because I get the most beautiful Stratty tones out of that thing. The gain is modeled to be more akin to classic rock, which it does extremely well, and then it goes all the way to Mount Doom in the depths of Mordor.

Yes its a completley different circuit to a marshall the origin being radiocraft orange matamp 100watt tube heads crazy loud and clean just different components nowadays still same philosophy. i started with orange way back in 2017 always played orange for the gnar and dirt and heavy stoner rock cleans. Ever since ive had many amps for my heavy stuff for clean i rock fender for dirt usually my plexi but i honestly have to say orange is my best dirt tone ever these amps dont take pedals well i have learned that now but if you pushem and give em room they will sing unlike any amp imo. It can do metal it can do crunch it can do stoner it can do grunge it can do high gain and even blues.
That sounds nice... but I was less than impressed with the Dark Terror (which also sounded great on your video) for the lack of being able to brighten up the tone without it completely scooping the mids to a thin sounding mess... I wish they included a presence control separately on ALL their amps.
That problem can easily be remedied with EQ. I can dial in any tone from Led Zeppelin to Cannibal Corpse with my Orange Micro Dark and a Metal Zone pedal just by using the EQ knobs on the metal zone. If you need even more tone customization, just get an EQ pedal. First dial in a really good clean tone on the Orange amp, keeping the amp's gain as low as possible for the needed volume, then use pedals to build from there. You can build ANY sound like that. And I mean ANYTHING. Pedals unlock all the possibilities.

I had one, but did away with it because the clean channel didn't have enough headroom to keep up with our rehearsal volumes. My ac30, also 30 watts, is a lot louder. No comparison. So I don't understand he is calling this a loud amp.
For single coils i would recomend something from the classic vibe range of squier guitars For humbucking rock i would recommend a sg standard And of you want a guitar made for high gain metal i recommend a harley benton ex-84 emg A would also not get a budget guitar with a floyd rose because they are hard to set up and use
Harley Benton makes some pretty good budget guitars. But I second the vote on the Ibanez Gio too. That was my first guitar and I still have it 16 years later. And it still sounds great.
The mini-amps aren't. The Micro Dark is probably the best value for what you get of any amp, ever. $200. All the volume you need form 20 W unless you're playing stadiums or something, even has an effects loop... can't beat that deal. Hundreds cheaper than the "big name" tube amps, but an do the job just as well with just a few pedals.
I boost my TH30 with a couple of different pedals. I really like the EQD plumes right now for it. Brings it to life!

I have had the combo version of this for maybe 10 years or so now and absolutely love it.
