- After 12 long years I've finally remade this video with high-quality video and audio.
Although Bleach is long gone, I still feel the great depth of this piece and its exceptional impact on my life. This is a relic of my past single self, and I still remember the pain and anguish I felt the first time I played this piece. I also now feel a different kind of pain and anguish for the suffering of those who are or have loved ones afflicted by coronavirus.

my entire family is very musical so at a young age i was given violin lessons but i hated them so much and quit. i was also super disrespectful to the conductor and my private tutor lmao one time i even poked the tutors eye with my bow RIP yea i was a bit of a stupid kid. but then i heard your first "never meant to belong" oh god i cried for like all of it and thats when i came to respect the violin. i became a good kid and practiced like 4+ hours a day and got into the top orchestra at my high school (there were 6 total orchestras and the top one gets to go to new york). i played in carniege hall and its an experience of my life i will never forget. so thank you, you were the first and very crucial step in me enjoying life to its fullest. thank you with all my heart.

You're old cover sounded like the violin was crying in anguish (in a good way, i mean figuratively). In this cover it sounds like a memory, like it's an almost more dignified or resigned sadness, if that makes sense. I don't know how else to describe what I mean.

I think his old video portrayed sadness and despair... this video kinda gives a vibe that " I have overcome my sadness and it's far peace on this other side, like a light house in full darkness " I dont know maybe we both mean the same thing or it could be my depression talking...

I remember the very first time that I heard you play this, 12 years ago. I was in a different country - young, unsure, without direction, poor, full of dark emotions. I didn´t even have my own computer back then, I was just renting from an internet café. I keep coming back everyday to your channel and imagining myself as you playing this very sweet and sad song (I don´t play, tried to but didn´t pursue).
Now I´m working overseas, enjoying a few comforts of life, not rich, but now not poor either. Many things have happened between your first video and this but I am, for the better part, blessed. I am glad to know that you are still playing and it seems you are living a great life with your family. I may be a stranger to you but I am very happy right now and full of nostalgic emotions from before, from a lifetime ago. And here I am still subscribed to your channel after more than a decade.
I wish you the very best of everything, Ben. May a good and peaceful life be with you and your loved ones.

Amazing performance, but nothing will ever top that raw emotion that you poured into your original video. You made us feel what you were feeling, and we still do with every single time that we hear it. I still want to thank you, even after 12 years.

Lovely stuff Ben, please do more remasters! It's been so long since I've heard your older awesome covers. Hearing them remastered might help tremendously. Back then Anime wasn't as big as it is now, so perhaps it might even attract newer people to the channel. Your talent is unmatched, so get going with those old Naruto/Bleach OSTs :)
He should release a CD with this stuff on or digital recording if rights are given

Also, if I may add. Just how I see things: I find you a quite likeable person. You're not camera shy either, you speak eloquently. If I were you, I would most certainly dig further into this RUclips thing and milk it as much as my talent allows me to. Meaning not only remaster and re-release everything I did in the past but also check trending anime and anime OSTs and make sure to be first to cover any new trending songs that people enjoy (look at Animenz and all the other piano anime cover channels that gather millions of views because there's so many people watching Anime and listening to STs nowadays). You could be that guy, but on violin. Further more, reason why I mentioned the fact that you seem likeable in front of camera was so I can advice you to not only do covers but also try more fun stuff like reaction videos to piano in different shows (anime, movies etc), give us insight on things that only someone as experienced like you would notice. Stuff like that. Idk how much you wish to grow the RUclips persona but it would be very doable given your talent and expertise :) only a matter of whether this is something you would like to pursue or not. Best of luck regardless and I hope you are doing well. It's been a very long time since I watched your videos. I hope these past 10 years have been kind to you my man!

Amazing Ben, I remember the original video. Having listened to both back to back now, I have a deep appreciation for both versions. The original seems more energetic, almost frantic at times. And this new version sounds like a much older, more mature person sharing a story of strife rather than being in the moment. Great job on both accounts!! 👍

This is beautiful! I've been playing the violin for six months and this piece has stuck with me since i first watched bleach many years ago, so I'm currently trying to learn a simple version of it. Once day maybe I'll even play in front of someone xD

This reminds me of when my instructor tells me to play what's on the page instead of "expressing myself" way too much. Definitely a huge leap in technique and skill and video and audio quality, but this really isn't never meant to belong.
