@@SpiritDragoness Thanks, missed that the first time around. Checked the original to be sure as well. According to her, he says "all will die", not "all of you will die", a small but important difference that I agree with her changes the tone a bit.
She doesn't have the impression that this a "All will die" as in "you will all die here but you will be remembered", but more of a "all will die (SIC: As a fact of life), but even then you will be remembered eternally as war-heroes for what you will do here".
And from my own experience, Russian bravado mixed with glory is far more common than bravado mixed with defeatism.

We dont expect you to last a day, just long enough to mobilize the units waiting in the next region, you're conscripts, you're canon fodder"

When I first watched this with the translation before having a RUclipsr interpret it, the impression I got he meant is, everyone eventually will die, which is a truth. And his aim is to get the fear of death out their mind, and focus on the mission because whether a hero or casualty, it will not be in vain, everyone will be honored

About the introduction's question, in this situation, I would honestly get rid of my commander and take a walk. Now there is a cavieat, if I believe in the mission and it aims to protect vulnerable others that's something else alltogether, I'd go. But for an offensive to invade a neighbouring country, no way, not gonna get killed for a fascist country on a rampage. I prefer to die fighting my country of origin in these conditions.

it is easy to say that when you are in comfort of your home i agree with you that this is a war of aggression and i think that no one in their right mind should even consider going to a war where your main objective is to conquer another country/topple their government or interfere in their internal matters in any way, but keep in mind that people are being mobilized by force on both sides and it isn't as simple as i would kick my commanders ass and take a walk

How can you be a combat veteran and never heard something like this? The reason officer talk like this is because they are trying to get soldiers to understand that the nation is more important than the individual soldier. Death is a part of the military, and they want you to know it so that when the time comes, you dont run away.

Before the USSR collapsed, when you get stationed in Germany, you get told, " If anything kicks off with Russia , they just use us as targets until the main force gets here".
At that time, it would be the tank and armored forces would try to overwhelm NATO forces.
I didn't know anything about Ukraine, but East Germany and other warsaw pact countries were right there.

Shows the difference in approach. When delivering orders one of the most important sections of the delivery (for western militaries) is the medical plan. I.e if you get shot injured etc don't worry this is how we will get to you, this is the treatment you will receive initially and these are the medical resources we have to medevac you to the rear and from there on to proper medical facilities.
I would think a soldier that knows they will be taken care of is far more likely to trust his commanders and place themselves at risk.

Dude I can’t imagine. THINKING you’re going to die at times in intense combat situations is bad enough. Getting the classic pre deployment speech of “Look to your left and right; there is a chance some of you won’t come back” and wondering is it going to be you is wild too. Having your commander telling you that you’re going to die… How demoralizing.

Cleary the definition of Human Wave has changed over the years. Used to imply complete disregard for enemy fire, and not taking cover as you advance. Closest to this tactic to be used in Ukraine was at Bahkmut with the Wagner troops, only because infantry was all they had. Even in that battle, I doubt it met the requirements to be called a Human Wave.
