We haven't actually had the Patron I my opinion wouldn't be worth much. That being said, I personally like Patron and think the Codigo is a bit over rated. So with out trying the Patron, i'm gonna say that one. lol
@@tobysshades so you are not wrong. As far as liking it, it's fine. But the way it is marketed you would think it was the greatest tequila ever produced. But I will drink it. Lol
You guys gotta do a side by side with this and Number Juan’s extra anejo. Number Juan’s is only $90 as opposed to this $325 bottle. Wonder how it stacks up.
I think Chris and I would both agree that the price tag on Codigo isn’t worth it. It’s good… but damn it’s pricey. The Cuervo reserva de la familia is my favorite extra anjeo, but that number Juan isn’t too shabby. Avion 44 is a good one if you want to get away from those scotch-like overtones. -Lyal
We have been pretty happy with all of them so far. That being said, I don't think that rossa is especially worth it. It doesn't have enough characteristics for that expression to make it necessarily different. But Lyle likes it a lot. The extra anejo has a pretty nice flavor to it but it's definitely bold. Let us know how that rest of it comes out though~cheera
My favorite Extra Añejo, molasses and Tequila distillery aromas with a big cooked agave flavor note. Código 1530 Origen, real color real flavor worth every dollar.
I bought at least two of the bottles that we have while in Dallas at Total Wine and More. I would assume they still have them, but definitely start there! ~cheers
I’d love to know where you guys get your background music, especially for this video. It adds a nice touch. New sub for sure! Look forward to checking out more of your stuff. Oh...and it’s pronounced Cody-go for sh*ts & giggles.
So the Intro to the show is a snippet from some of Lyals music (look up Lyal Strickland "I Don't Care") , the bed music is so.wthing Lyal dug up on a free music site made for background tracks. I do not know the name but if he sees this he may be able to tell you. Some people like it and some dont. We do, so it stays. Lol. Thanks for all the kind words. Looking forward to more feed back. Enjoy and ~cheers
The vibe here is solid!! Just purchased the Codigo 1200 limited bottle... have you tried?? Found it for $249.00 I could send you the site to which it was purchased if you'd like. New subscriber ✌️
@@tastebudguys Continental Wines & Spirits in Fresh Meadows, NY. Bought on their website. They have 3 left, I grabbed 4. Best price ive found! Have yet to try but I'd love to see your review on it.
Haven’t tried Origen yet. But I enjoy the regular Codigo Anejo more than Don Julio 1942. Maybe one day I’ll have the courage to drop the money for Origen.
There's a reason for it's price . It's real. You are aware that DJ1942, JCrDF, have additives, ie colors & flavors added ? It's widely known by professionals in the industry. Codigo is 100% real tequila. And this XA blows all them away. Like comparing a Mercedes to a Chevy !
We are aware, though there is a fair chance we may not have been when we shot this. However, even given that info, we really try to approach it from a taste vs. Cost standpoint. Not so much a process. I still like DJ42 even knowing it's processed. Is it my favorite, nope. But is it good, yes. And most importantly we have converted a lot of "non-tequila" drinkers that told us they hated tequila by showing them it doesn't have to taste harsh. I'm betting there has been a lot more people learned to drive in a Chevy than a Mercedes. But overall I can agree and respect what you are saying. We just approach it differently.
Dont care anymore. Lol. From what every single person online says, you just did too. Apparently there is no correct way to say Spanish words anymore....
I am commen- ting before you taste. I'm betting you taste the tequila towards the middle of the palate, while the liquid turns to velvet on the tongue.
Hey Rolando! Thanks for the message. We cant really say much on cognac because we have no real experience with it, though it is on our to do list. As far as comparing to whiskeys, I dont really think they are even close to the same. We had always thought that bourbon was the best, but after discovering what tequila had to offer it has really brought it up to our favorites. I was not aware that the tequila we drink was different than mexico, if you could, we would love to get some ideas of what we could look for that is actually available down there! Good reason for the wood overtone: these were aged in cabernet barrels.
(Anejo, Rose, Extra Anejo & Reprosado)

What makes tequila brandy??
No clue. But if it can be brandy, that is a great question to look into.

Codigo, to us at least, is cleaner and less sweet than '42. This extra anejo from Codigo is pretty deep and complex for sure. - Lyal
