I'm pretty sure the guitars were always the point, after all, ZUN said in the composer commentary something along the lines of "maids and heavy metal; a classic pairing" albeit very sarcastically, lol

Not him, but from what I can tell he made the guitar less loud and it sounds a little less nosier. Synths have less reverb but are more in the foreground. The snare drum is also way less prominent.
IMHO a good change, but I wish the snare drum was still a bit more loud, it's really what gives this song it's unique vibe.
