Cheers, Elliott. This is actually my 4th recent video. It seems that a number of people don't know I have returned since my break. RUclips doesn't seem to be notifying anyone... Anyway, Happy Christmas to you. All the best for the coming year, too.
Compulsory Xmas listening 🌟 These two plus Kurtág and Webern have been my light in the dark and in heavy rotation since October 7th. This morning I was streaming Polyphony & Stephen Layton’s O Magnum Misterium, another favourite of the season. Happy holidays Alan and may you and the boys get lots of musical treats in your Christmas sacks! 🤗
No Mariah Carey? October 7th is a very specific date. I came to seasonal music very late this year but have been enjoying the winter skies and their dark ambience to go along with it. Wishing you and Planty a lovely Christmas Riccarda.
@@statictraveller Haha. You’re not the first one having that reaction. To paraphrase a good friend, the last thing we want to see and hear after October 7th is Mariah Carey. This season I’m all into requiems and find them more appropriate for our times anyways. Last year the midwinter fest here has resulted in competing light shows based on Carey’s Xmas hit which put me in hibernation mode within seconds. At least my friends’ children seemed to enjoy it. 😌
Happy Christmas to you Alan! Beautiful music. I will play the John Fahey Christmas Album, which is my personal favorite. I put it on every year. Have a pleasant holiday!
Merry Christmas, Alan! Listening to a somewhat worn copy of this album as I type. About 1/2 through Benjamin Britten's side B. My brain couldn't take any more Mariah Carey or Kelly Clarkson this holiday season. Wishing you the very best.
Alan, ''redolent'' and ''gravitas'' are two of my favorite words, thank you for putting them to good use. I enjoyed the music, the voices reminded me of the ''masculine'' Russian Orthodox choirs. Carla Bley's, ''Carla's Christmas Carols'' is a wonderful listen, the album features Carla on piano, Steve Swallow on bass and a Brass Quintet. The album contains traditional and original tunes by the late great Carla Bley. One of her songs is titled, ''Hell's Bells'', I dedicate that one to Mike Tomlin and other people who don't believe in Santa Claus!
Happy Christmas to you too Alan. Just the sort of seasonal music I prefer as have heard even more the usual ones. Nice to see you've not gone overboard with the decorations too.
OK, now I have to find that album.Wishing you the very best Alan. Oh, if you get a chance, while I know its not your favorite thing to do, could you give us a rundown of your playback system? With all the videos of the $16000 cartridges and monoblock amps sitting on the floor atop butcher boards, it would be a nice sanity check to see a video about gear from someone who focuses on music first. (That is unless you have a pair of D'Agostino amps sitting on the floor... then please carry on as usual.)
@@statictraveller 😆Can't wait to hear about it! It should come with a large VU meter necklace pendent so everyone can be aware of your ownership without having to exchange a single word!
Beautiful. But listen to Ave Maria from Vladimir Vavilov (many still believe that it was from Caccini... which it isn't...). A wonderful but pretty rare Ave Maria.
Happy christmas Alan, did you buy yourself any vinyl as a christmas present? I did, five hours ago just before the shop went closed. I kind of regret that a little though:)
It's the optimal time of year to reflect on the absurdity of life. If you look into who invented Xmas, how, when, why, where..........this becomes quite apparent. Interestingly early doors carol singing was often a sing song that was associated with drunken louts shafting young maidens and banned here and there, I challenge anyone to drink 12 pints of ale and undertake fornication after listening to Honegger's approach to the ditties.
I think they should bring back some of the dying customs. Door to door carol singing should be compulsory for all able bodied adults, but only after imbibing 12 pints of eggnog and consuming 3 pounds of Christmas cake.
Merry Christmas. Peace to every living being anywhere...🎉
Amen to that! Merry Christmas.
Thank you! I hope your holiday is a great one. Please come back to the VC, we miss you!

have a happy holiday Alan, and let's hope goodness prevails next year.... cheers
Thanks Sherv. There is always hope.
Wishing you a happy christmas and a peaceful new year. All the best to you. Yet another beautiful piece of music to discover, courtesy of you.
And all the best to you too, Steve. Thank you.

Thank you, Ed. You too. I confess to never having heard that album... I should rectify that pronto.
Wow I need to hear this too
Happy Christmas, Alan to you and your family.
Thank you. And the same to you, Robert.

@@terrywho22 Merry Christmas to you, too! I know exactly what you mean...
Merry Christmas to you too Alan. Hope Penge and Derrick get what they wished for 😂😂😂.
The disappearance of the new VC is top of their Santa list. Here's hoping...
@@statictraveller funnily enough it’s also on my Santa list 😂😂🤞🤞🤞

I would argue you can never have enough Mariah Carey, but I would lose...
Blessings of the Christmas season to you, Alan!
Thank you, John. And likewise!
Happy Christmas, Alan. Uplifting and joyous music. Best wishes for a blessed season and new year. Cheers, Jeff

Cheers, Jack and the same to you!
Happy Christmas Alan.
My Bloody Valentine Loveless is my Christmas album. Just seems to fit for me!
Cheers, Wayne. You don't hear that every day! Now I hope they start playing it in the shops next year.
Sounded wonderful Alan..Great to see you, hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a happy and prosperous New year.🌲🌲🌲
Thank you, Sir. Likewise. Nice scores in your latest video, by the way. 👌
Happy Christmas from Denmark…🎄👍

I am one down payment away from acquiring the Relentless pre amp. I'm looking forward to sharing its capabilities with an envious vinyl community.

Merry Christmas Alan. Doesn't feel like a year ago I was commenting on your last festive vids. Beautiful music ofc
Cheers, Dan. These days, I wonder if they shouldn't have Christmas every two years, it comes round so quickly!
@@statictraveller i probably wouldn't oppose that tbh
Happy Festivus!
Festivus? Bah! Humbug! They should celebrate Christmas like the restivus.
Have a great Christmas Alan, Penge and Derrick 😃👍
Thank you, Stuart. The boys send their famous Glasgow kisses.
Happy Christmas Alan, have a good one
Cheers, Dale. You too!
All the best Alan
Cheers, Peter. The same to you.
Merry Chrimbo Mr Static
Thank you, and to you Mr. Ben.
Happy Christmas Alan

Happy christmas Alan, did you buy yourself any vinyl as a christmas present? I did, five hours ago just before the shop went closed. I kind of regret that a little though:)
Between you and me, I am actually having a vinyl free Christmas. Almost all the presents I am getting this year are books. Sshh. Don't tell anyone.
Seasons greetings Penguin Pest 😉
Sshh! There is probably some sort of law against it...
