Great video, thanks for taking the time to make and post. I have one of the small worktop saws. love it to bits and a great bit of kit. Have upgraded the fence and wouldn’t mind changing out the blade guides for bearing guides. Would certainly upgrade to the larger saw

    Craig, great informative video.
Best purchase I have made in a while has been my Axminster Trade AT3352B bandsaw. Great bit of kit with powerful motor so great for cutting Oak Bur and re-sawing.
Looking forward to your video on blades. Since I purchased a ‘Axcaliber Premium Bandsaw Blade 19mm 4-6 Tpi’ my enjoyment of the machine has increased significantly. The change from a axcaliber standard ground tooth blade was night and day, the new blade seems to cut like a knife through butter. So impressed with the bandsaw and also the premium axcaliber blades.
    Cheers
    Jase

Excellent - is the smallest machine the same as the Perform 1400 that I bought from Axminster last year, it looks like it? If it is I've found it to be a great little machine for the bits and pieces I've been making. [I came to Axminster back in January for the router and bandsaw courses - very useful sessions]

You made a mistake and said "book match". You revealed your knowledge! Talking my language ;-) I've just ordered a AW2606B, been saving up. All the stores are far from me but my son lives in Andover and I popped in to see your range one Saturday. Very impressed.

@@axminster Thanks. It was a Saturday, so Saturday staff thing and all that. Even so the young man I spoke too had was very knowledgeable and had all the time in the world for me. I wanted to see the machine for myself before I purchased. Everything on display to see. Also an amateur engineer, two lathes and two mills in my garage, and impressed with the range of engineering (metal working) tool range like rotary vice etc. A really nice toy shop for me :-) Very impressed.

Hello, I can confirm that our AT3352B and AT3086B bandsaws can comfortably cut up to 12" deep. The AT3352B has a max cutting depth of 350mm and the AT3086B is 356mm. Thanks

All Chinese bandsaws now have a rack and pinion rise and fall blade guides. The rack on mine clogs up and is a nightmare to unclog. I’ve improved it a bit by sealing the top to keep the sawdust out. Cutting wet twigs and branches clogs it up very quickly. I guess using extraction would improve things. My old Startrite has a simple clamp. It’s never clogged up in thirty years because there is nothing to clog up.. Modern design , new very basic faults.
You recommend dust extraction but don’t mention stopping the rack clogging up amongst its benefits. To clear the rack you have to raise the guard to take the top wheel off, but it’s jammed because it’s clogged. My only solution has been to regularly squirt the rack with WD 40 to wash it. 20 minutes cutting logs 25 minutes cleaning the rack!

I'm considering the AW1950 band saw. The maximum I think I will ever need to cut is 4 inches so It looks like this saw has sufficient depth to cope with this. Am I looking at this correctly?

    • @axminster
      @axminster  10 месяцев назад +1

Hi there, The AW1950B will occasionally cope with 4" timber thickness, a 4TPI blade would be recommended for this depth of cut. Hope this helps

Thanks for the confirmation. At this depth of cut, which speed would you recommend the lower or higher speed? cheers

Good video. However actually buying a bandsaw (or pretty much any machinery) from Axminster is virtually impossible. Most of their stuff is out of stock and their bandsaws have been out of stock for months, with no date set for when they might come in. It's a shame as they look good, but after waiting for months I'm going to have to look elsewhere.

You used the table as a handle to move the saw, isn't that a big no no? 😂😂🤣

Would you not be better showing the audience what advantages you're machines have over the competition? Instead of the salesman gobble?

I never used a bandsaw before, and I learnt quite a lot from this presentation. The important points I takes from this, is what to look out for when trying to compare to which competition. No doubt each company will have their strength and weaknesses. At least with this presentation I better understand with the two smaller bandsaw, indeed with all three how the differences actuary are. When I do purchase a bandsaw, its more likely be the middle craft, for the occasion cutting of 4"+ stock. My DeWalt table saw struggle with over 3" never mind 4".
