I wish that I lived in the period of time when every animated TV show got a theatrical movie.
It was great as a kid, but it wasn't great for the guardians as I know my parents and grandparents dreaded having to sit through "a 1.5 hour episode of that stupid cartoon I watched all the time." Perfect for fans, but left nothing for non fans.
Yeah remember when during the late 90's/early 2000's it seemed like every other cable TV cartoon got the big screen treatment just because they could?
We need more of those in our lives.

I think Genndy Tartakovsky did the right think and just made that dexter ego trip movie not in theaters.

@@supermariof0521It wasn't long enough plus it was more of a tv movie just like the ed edd eddy movie, the PPG movie did sadly poorly at the box office.

Break time actually would be an even more fitting name considering the Great Escape influences.

It's an okay movie, though I do think watching the series adds a lot more to it.
Most of the dilemma's TJ and the gang usually faced were usually pretty common for school kids albiet heavily exaggerated from their perspective.
Whereas this movie is them literally going against an ex principal turned supervillian, whilst partnering up with the principal who they "thought" was their worst enemy. I may be overanalysing, but I see Benedict as a literal personification of how the kid's saw Prickly, except in this case he's much much worse. I just thought that was interesting.
I for one never really watched much of the Recess series on television but I do remember watching the movie a couple times when it was on Toon Disney.
Them cops look like Officer Tempenny and Officer Hernandez from GTA.
It’s times like this that make me glad I grew up in the era of Disneys one Saturday morning on ABC
I think the smaller character beats and scenes, the treehouse comes to mind, work. The rest is a bit all over the place.
I remember seeing this at the Odeon when it just came out. I didn't even know they made a film version until Blue Peter showed a clip of it. Being a fan of the show, it was really good to see. Though it was released during a strange period as i started high school a couple weeks later, then 9/11 happened soon after. It was like the 90s era coming to an end.

I saw this movie in theaters.......What the f%$@ Where they on when they wrote this film's script?!!? Anyway, it is entertainingly trippy and has a good message...I guess.
The movie is fine for what it is, but it certainly isn't amazing. It has good parts, but it's a goofy (but harmless) movie for kids.
Principal prickly's line about summer vacation gets to me everytime
As an adult, I can't help but feel the kids' parents won't be very happy that their kids are dropping out of camp last-minute. They've probably already paid for it this close to the starting date...
Yeah I loved the show as a kid I went to see the film in a cinema and I had it on VHS. I remember seeing it advertised on bus stops.
I don't remember seeing that think advert but I remember others on TV.
3.28 Star Trek movies used to do that they would advertise a new movie & have a lot of Music and clips from previous films.
Well here's the thing schools aren't empty during the summer. I worked as a janitor for a summer and we would deep clean every classroom.
I wouldn't say that it failed,....unless you count its release date, that is.
In my opinion I actually like this movie a lot.
