This is the same principle as an antique Victrola. I've wanted to build one of these. I imagine, if your top and bottom pieces were thinner, they might be able to convey more lower-end frequencies for a deeper sound. Also, a _riser_ 1/8" high by 1/2" wide in the middle of the spot where your phone sits might raise the phone enough to help the sound escape better than having it sitting down on the wood with the speakers pointed down.
Neal, interesting points. I’m learning about materials and forms for amplifying sound in a keyboard. How would thinner pieces create a deeper sound? What might I be looking up as examples to learn more about this.
This is far and away the easiest looking way to build a smartphone speaker. I can definitely do it with the tools and wood I have on hand. However, are there any measurements to it, or is it just eyeball? What about for the shape of the sound channel. I can probably figure things out from the video, but that would be a PITA. Still, I like it...
Speaker looks great but I gave up the idea of building one when I saw your planer, jointer, and band saw as I have none of those. But thanks for posting anyway.
There's a much easier design. I've used 1x lumber and 1/2 inch square stock. A handsaw to cut. A drill to cut the hole for the phone. Glue and clamps. I've made 2 and about to start a third.

After seeing some of these built, I used cardboard and duck tape to build a prototype, just to see how it works. Worked well enough, I made one out of 1/8 paneling and 1/2 square stock. That worked out,so I've moved on to what's called one by lumber. It's actually more like 5/8 thick. Using thicker wood seemed to have a better sound. So my next one will be with some hardwood.
I think I noticed you set a board under the top when you used the scroll saw to cut the opening. Was that to achieve an angle so the phone would not set flat on the bottom? How thick was that board or what angle were you shooting for?
Very nice and simple to Duplikate Design indeed. Well done. What about Dimensions (L vs. W)? I presume it is the golden ratio between the length and the width ( L x W) of the Box, with length (L) being approximately 12 Inches. Right?
Buen trabajo, pero para algunos y mayoría que somos principiantes, nadie creo que tenga la maquinaria de avanzada que usted muestra, deberían mostrar y enseñar con herramientas más simples y básicas...
Nice looking amp. Fast speed videos are a bit much for my old eyes to follow. Explaining the key steps and giving measurements at normal speed would have been better I think. I got dizzy watching this thing. Too bad because it's a nice looking project!
I just love watching someone cutting timber over and over and over .......ad Infinium. How about some commentary and shortening the repetitive sequences?
Great job on the music selection too!!! Beautiful creation 👌🏼
Was hanging out for the test at the end, and you drop what a wonderful name in.. absolutely stellar. Praise to our King
Same. Glory to our God!

I came here for the same reason. My speaker is on the bottom right. Wouldn't this design block the sound?

WHAT A BEAUTIFUL NAME IT IS...AMEN TO GOD BE THE GLORY.
NICE WORK BRETHREN!
Really cool. I'm just starting out so I envy you for all the great tools you have. Will still give it a try with my hand tools.
Cool box & an amazing song!
The song at the ending of the video.. love it.
Great work and song choice !
Hey buddy, to me the best and simple design, with and great look. Good job!!! congratulations, thanks for sharing.
Great build and an amazing song !
Good job and excellent choice of music!! 👍🏾🙏🏽
The song at the end and the awesome vid convinced me to sub and like! Thanks!
Been singing that song at the end every Sunday for 3 years!
Excellent speaker and excellent design 👍 What are the dimensions of it?
WAY COOL, ABSOLUTELY #1 for a simple design requiring minimum tools.🙌🏻
I experiment with boxes occasionally. I love the simplicity of this.
Good choice of music, elegant speaker

Love the music you put on!!😍
Looks great and sounds good. Looks like a fun build. Some basic dimensions would have been helpful
I’m scrolling through the comments looking for some.
Nice work and Nice Jesus Christ song,👍
I dig the vid brother. And way to slip in some praise for our Lord Jesus as well. Thumbs up!
Great song! Powerful! Amen!

A powerful name it is, indeed!
Hey! Very good ideas in making this phone speaker. thank u
Bless you!!!
Wonderful praise... Praise for our Lord Jesus Christ
Appropriate to play the song about history’s most famous carpenter!
Hi Im doing a school project for design what type of wood did use for the speaker pls answer thank you.
Looks really cool, well nice crafted together, if there will be actual products like this on the market, that would be cool.
Why do you not make more videos?
Lots of powertools needed.however, very good workmanship.
That was very helpful for me👍
My Samsung phone has the speaker on the top, how do I make this work for it without putting my phone in upside-down?
Love the video and the song to.
Do you have the full dimensions of all the parts anywhere?
Muy buen trabajo, hermosa alabanza bendiciones!!!

Can't we make one of these using cardboard or something similar?

It's amazing!❤
Muy inspirador, excelente trabajo.
PARABÉNS Robison, ficou melhor com esse louvor no final.
Ficou muito bonito!Parabéns! Deus abençoe ricamente sua familia.
Narration would have helped, as well as a list of materials and measurements.
Woodworking is just about high-pitch noise :)
That sound channel looked terrible. Did you do any measurements or just guessed how it should look like?
Muito bom! Very Good!
Great job!
Muito bom ! Gostei da música também! Deus abençoe
Is that the Porter Cable bandsaw if so is it good for resawing?

You can tap on the three dots (or the gear on PC, I think) and adjust the playback speed to lower.
Trabalho espetacular parabéns 👏💯🤝👍
i see you like hillsong worship
Very nice, thanks

If the hole was a bit less wide you've get maybe 30% more volume.
lo mejor, la canción !!!
Podrían pasar medidas todo muy lindo pero tengo que adivinar las medidas
Como artesanía esta buenísima, pero prefiero conectarle una bocina portátil.
Salut...!
