Hey Nik, would be great to see a video from you on how a rec player should approach training and practice in order to improve. How many hours a week with a coach, how many hours a week with a hitting partner, how to make practice sessions without a coach productive, etc. Many folks cant afford too many hours with a coach, but it's hard to improve and get better when just hitting with a friend. Would love to hear from you!
It’d be great if you could do a video on warming up before a match, share some of your insight and experience on strengthening some areas like shoulders, elbow and knees with some tips or exercises. Personally I’ve been suffering from shoulder problems which impacted a lot on my game almost even considering stopping it entirely. As always loved the video, quality content as expected of you, thanks.
Nikola, you are the teacher in theoretical tennis I never had. Love your videos. Today I met my first pusher and I got so angry. Then I saw your video on the topic, and I realized I had to subscribe to your channel. Ciao and keep it up, Nicola
My game is based on the fact that my opponent underestimates my shots and game play. My backpack aids tremendously in this and I even won tournaments with this style. My opponent in that final admitted after the match that due to my appearance and shots in practice he thought he could not lose this.
My backpack - rec player only 2 racquets 2 cans of balls drink Light hand towel thing, which ill usually wet. Aussie heat can be brutal. Wipe sweat and/ or hang around neck Dampeners Sunglasses sports tape Must have - Vape and ejuice (ex smoker and only thing that helped me quit lol) gum - lets any nervous energy out. Probably got it from my cricket days.
The outfit you wear to protect you of the sun reminds me of my own experience. I wear a hijab and so only my face and hands are not covered when I'm out in the sun. Most people assume that it must be really hard because it must be really hot. In reality, I don't think it feels much hotter and you get great protection from the sun. Well worth the trade-off in my opinion! Thank you for this lovely video and all of your other videos as well! I recently came across your videos and have just gotten back into playing tennis so they've been super helpful!
Very interesting video with great points, Nik. One question: how specifically do plastic bags over the racket head protect the strings? Regarding nutrition: my understanding is that you can avoid the sugar high followed by the sugar low by taking some protein and fiber along with the sweet. So dates are great because they are high fiber. Eating a few walnuts along with, e.g., raisins, will even out the sugar variation by providing both fiber and protein. I am a big fan of arm sleeves. I believe they achieve their cooling power by drawing sweat away from your arm into its fabric where it can more easily evaporate as well as radiating sunlight (if they are white). However, I do not use these on cloud days as I find that they make me warmer than not wearing them. If you don't need to carry more than six rackets, I find the Adidas bag a better alternative than traditionally shaped bags. This bag is designed to be placed vertically so that its specially designed deep storage pockets can hold items with less jumbling than traditional bags cause. As far as overgrips, have you tried Völkl's V-Dry grips? For me they combine great absorption power with a very comfortable feel. They don't seem to be commonly used but that may simply be due to marketing insufficiency.
@@IntuitiveTennis Interesting observation, Nik. Gut strings, of course, were notorious for poor results in high humidity. I would have guessed that polyester strings would be more immune to moisture since--I assume--being plastic they are hydrophobic (don't absorb water). But maybe moisture affects them in some other way. Of course moisture will affect tennis balls (at least those with some wool in their coats) by making them fluff up sooner and they will travel a bit more slowly in humid air because of its greater density. But maybe this is a barely perceptible effect. I'm too busy always toweling off to notice. lol
I like my adidas tennis back pack! Right now its holding 3 rackets, 4 cans of balls, 4 water bottles, a change of clothes and medical equipment. I look cool AF walking on the court.
I have the Adidas back pack, also, and it is wonderful. Unlike traditional bags it is designed to be hung vertically on the fence although you can also prop it up vertically against a bench. This makes use of the specially shaped compartments which not only hold a LOT of gear but make it easier to find items which traditional bags tend to jumble up.
I’m a tourament player and I bring 3 Rackets Big Water bottle Gatorade Wristbands Headbands Extra grips Extra strings 2 or 3 cans balls Cones Extra pair of shoes
Hi Nick, back in the day I used to play with a Prince “Woodie” racquet. Do you remember them? Anyway I would leave them in my car not in a tennis bag and one time the temperature got so hot that both racquets warped. My question is, with the materials used in modern racquets , is it safe to keep my racquet in my bag in my car when I’m not playing for awhile? I know that they won’t warp; but, will the strings be compromised ? Living in a climate where the temperature can drop into the teens during the winter I may only play 3 times a week indoors and I keep my bag in the trunk. Thanks
There is so much I am learning about tennis. I never would have guessed it is more intimidating to dress like a babushka with a tennis bag, than it is to dress like Federer with a back pack.
Hi, i just saw a one of your backhand shorts and I want to ask you what do you think about kukushkin backhand, it looks like there is no tip spin at all on it
I use a travel bag that I got at a yard sale for 2$. I would feel much worse if I l had an expensive bag and lost to a player who just carries his racquet in his hand.
Not in agreement making fun of backpacks. Much cheaper and easier for those on a bike to use a backpack to the courts than a big babolat bag they charge tons of $ for and get free advertising. BTW, funny to see many players show up with the most expensive rackets and accessories and tons of stuff, but still play bad tennis.
I also pack a mosquito repellent, a wind-breaker & pants, face mask & hand sanitizer, and mobile phone & wallet. Funny about the backpack... it doesn’t protect the racquet grip from absorbing dirt & dust.
What is wrong with all the people here? Get out and play instead of watching videos then u guys will learn what u need on court. Nicola don't get me wrong here, I really like your videos, so keep it up.
@@warehouse13graphicsolutions I think u got me wrong here. I'm sure you know what you need to bring on court in order play tennis. Nobody needed to tell you to bring a specific item, because you made your own experiences by playing this often. There are so many people these days who gain too much theoretical knowledge, but never actually make their own experiences. They just do thinks, because other people do it too. I hope now you understand what I've meant.
Well, I did learn something from this video and it’s something I’m gonna try... it never occurred to me to eat Dates as an energy source... I’ve been using a lot of energy gels & chews and Dates are healthier and easy to put in my pocket (esp for snowboarding).... My point is - sometimes, a pointless video.may not be that “useless”. And yeah I’m still getting out there and practicing a lot and noticing plenty of improvement! 🤗

I find changes in moisture can affect strings.

My bag:
2 tennis racquets
A lot of water
extra clothes
tennis shoes
flip flops
an extra overgrip
band aids
and a towel
offense taken, i challenge you to a match with my backpack
I love the backpack shade!
grüße aus deutschland! love your channel, helped me out a lot!
Tournament play I bring an extra set of clothes in my bag. As well as another set of clothes in the car. And, another towel.
The cooler the tennis bag, the higher the expectations in your game. Your game has to back up your look otherwise you risk being called a poser.
My backpack and I feel attacked
hi Nik, I can't find the exact hat you're wearing, would you mind posting a direct link to it? :)
Haha, escaped from ugly-shit-weather germany and landed at sunshine-state florida and working now like a mummy :-))) That is a real progress, Nik ;-)
can’t wait to see the aracic premium brand tennis bag, guaranteed to make even bad tennis players look cool
I’m a tourament player and I bring
3 Rackets
Big Water bottle
Gatorade
Wristbands
Headbands
Extra grips
Extra strings
2 or 3 cans balls
Cones
Extra pair of shoes
Do you use a pre-workout drink? I have more energy to run or play that lasts twice long if I have my preworkout drink.

Take your racquets home. Climate can affect both frame and string
Amazing thanks
Hi Nik, have you tried the vapor pro? Any idea if those shoes are any better than the shoes you use currently?
I’ve tried them. They are good but I prefer the vapor X
I can barely afford one racquet lol all I need is a backpack
Now I understand why 12 racket bags are needed LOL
I realized that after about a month with my first tennis bag which was a backpack

the matching socks and shorts tho
should make a video on buying a stringing machine 👀
I didn’t understand what you suggest for eating? Thanks!
Dates
That's what Djokovic eat during the match.
@@IntuitiveTennis Ted Bundy vibes..
Don’t forget to bring a towel !

It's true but if you cycle to the courts the backpack is handy!

I also bike to tennis and I need a backpack for that. I might reconsider if there are tennis bags that are safe for biking?
When it comes to rackets I remember Goran getting disqualified in a match because he broke all 3 of his rackets and could not compete anymore.
next time on court, I'm not even going to bring a backpack. Just a racquet and my jordan 1's. Psych him out
lol'd so hard at your pet peeve
I also pack a mosquito repellent, a wind-breaker & pants, face mask & hand sanitizer, and mobile phone & wallet. Funny about the backpack... it doesn’t protect the racquet grip from absorbing dirt & dust.
I ride my bike to the courts, can I still use my backpack? :)
Coac Nic dissin on tennis backpackers! LOL
I go by bike, how can I carry such a big bag on my bicycle.
Yup, backpack.
