Hi there! Thanks for sharing your procedure. I have ST1000LM024 PN: HN-M101MBB/JP3. I have not a clean room as laminar flow... Is there a way I can sent to You for data recovery? At wich cost? I'm living in Argentina.
You should replaced the faulty heads not the disk. Unless you removed disk and boards together, but this is more works and risk. Remember donor hdd must same ; model/type, product lot ((or closer), firmware. Good luck
Problem ringan : 1. Kabel usb /kabel data rusak >> ganti. 2. Konektor usb pada pcb hardisk rusak >> ganti. 3. Pin konektor usb pada pcb hardisk kurang solder >> solder ulang. Problem berat : 1.
Hello. I did everything the same way as in the video. But when the hard disk is turned on, the heads come to the disks and come back and so several times and the spindle stops. The terminal displays a message - LED 110A. Can you tell me what it might be? Is it possible, for example, to turn off the heads through the terminal and do many things like through a utility? Can you tell me where you can download a service utility for such a hard drive?
These few thing need to concerned : 1. Platter must turn CCW, otherwise will damage the heads. 2. Turnd platter and pull head assembly extremely gently. To much force will damage both platter and heads. 3. Make sure you are working in clean room environment. 4. Please take note, you required to more practice in hdd that no data on it. Practice in hdd that having important data it may be lead to permanently lost data. 5. I am proffesional data recovery, so software and hadware that I am using is PC3000 and MRT. It may to expensive for personal user.
Hello man! I have a Seagate 1TB Backupplus Slim ST1000LM024, I need to swap the Head with another HDD, can I use one that is: HDD P/N: HN-M101MBB/EX2 and mines is HN-M101MBB/AV2 (same as the one you use in the video) ? Or you recommend me to use the Samsung Momentus HN-M101MBB/AV2, since it has the same HDD number of mines, but considering that has different name.
Hi. Check on label hdd. You have to concern to : same P/N , same firmware, and get as close as possible to date of manufacturing and at least first 4 digit of S/N is same. Void these concern will lead you failled to get back your data. That information from my experiences many years in data recovery.
@@akanghadibatam7285 Thanks man. When you talk about S/N and HDD P/N are the number that are INSIDE the disk (in the white paper/sticker), not in the OUTSIDE (in this video, the black plastic case). Right?
Thanks. It has been hard to find one because my model is 2013, I found one with another name, Is not exactly the same as mine, but S/N has the first 4 numbers/letters same, Model and HDD P/N are the same, the year is 2012. Do you think it could probably work? I am contacting the seller to confirm the info.
There is a tons possibilities. But mainly ; do it in a clean room, turn the disk ccw, move the hdd heads gently (too much forced, game over), never touch the hdd disk, after all is done you have to use hdd recovery software, I tested using R-Studio. Please take note Even though the hardware is done pretty well, it is not automatically hdd back to normal, you should have to use recovery data software as mentioned above.
@@akanghadibatam7285 Thanks I will try use R-Studio. Basically Folders can not be opened by clicking a mouse, I had to check them via terminal. Check if files are still there, and they are. I tried to cp from broken disk to somewhere else by the cmd but it won't work. (`Resources are busy` or smth like that). Maybe it's because disk format is NTFS but I tried to use NTFS for Mac to handle this but it didn't change a thing. Btw, I can not do anything on Windows. Only using Mac I have some possibilities like listing files etc. Using Windows it's just notOpenable at all. I don't know how it would work with Linux (probably best system to check with in that scenario?).
Hello, I have similar model of hard disk with me, ST1000LM024(Samsung Momentus HN-M101MBB/AV1) , I have removed all the screws but iam not able to remove the top cover, it seems very tight, how to remove it. Can you please comment on this query?
@@mcwaterson Yes i have removed it, still after removing it, am not able to remove the lid, in fact i have removed all the screws, 7 screws in total. The lid seems very tight. Other than 7 screws any other lock there?

Vineeshraj K R So there are 3 each side so 6 in total plus the one under the label, I just unscrewed that one until it sort of clicks then if you get a small flat head screw driver under the corners at one end of it and you should be able to pop it off. Just be gentle while you do it. Make sure there are no labels or anything around the edge of the metal holding it on still. 👍🏻
It worked
Hint, if no "clean" room - use a large clean unused plastic bag to work in with your hands....

Just wondered what type of cable that was that you pick up at 1:43? The one you plug into drive... I can't find anything like it online...

It is "pentalobe screws" , use pantalobe screw driver size T1.2
Theres a screw under the label on the top you have to feel around for it, its a torx screw.
