Blood bowl was mentioned in my video "10 games I have played way too often" because i have hundreds of plays of earlier versions. From a grognard perspective, this edition looks really solid. A couple of small mechanical changes but i like most of them. Some new teams, which is cool, but no sign of Norse, Amazon and a few others which is less good. I think if you are a veteran, its a set worth checking out. And if you are new, well, its a very solid starter set. (Some assembly required though)
@@3MBG I once had consecutive quadruple double skulls at the semi-finals of a tournament. Never have I ever raged so much at dice. Even if that wasn't enough, every kick-off event was 100% against me.
Oh dear, i feel this, i feel this so much. Nothing is more demoralizing than double skulls rerolled to double skills, having it back to back is unreal.
More dice involved than I thought. Never managed to play but always been interested. Those figurine assembly instructions looked far more intense than Ikea furniture instructions!
Before investing, I'd really recommend checking out the video games - Blood Bowl 1 and 2, which seem to depict the gameplay pretty acurately, allow you to create your own teams and test dozens of strategies without investing in actual figures
This is one of those games that need to be played hundred of times to get it. It very strategy heavy, not for casual play. Which is a no no for my group unfortunately 😞
Been really looking forward to this review. I just started playing the computer game of this. Been pretty fun so far. Wouldn't mind painting up a team of snotlings and halflings just for kicks as I love the models.
I was onboard for 2nd ed, so 1991 or so. And yes, great game that i've played a lot but really shines in a league and i just dont have time now for that :(
I enjoyed the online version for a couple of games. Sadly the community and community rules were too strict for casuals to join. Exactly what they want, but sad for me
I've wanted this since first edition came out. Bought the second last year. I don't think it's that hard to get into and so far I've enjoyed casual play with my young kids, no league games yet as they like to play different games rather than focus for a few months. My only gripe is that I wish it was better supported in terms of cards and elite player figures.
Yeah, probably for the best. Games workshop/Warhammer games are just as much about the model part of the hobby as they are the game. If you don't want to put models together, very much not for you.

Those teams were released as pdf by GW.
Oh cool, that's excellent to know.
Always wanted this and I finally gave it to myself. What a fun, awesomely addictive medium. It just works on so many levels
Blood Bowl in one sentence: 1/36 odds seem like a rare occurance - it isn't.
Praise nuffle then curse nuffle, for nuffle is the most fickle of gods

Nuffle giveth, and Nuffle taketh away.
...Mostly taketh away...

Thanks for explaining Blood Bowl. Wow! Monster Mash meets football.

Great point. I play those a lot more these days than the physical version and a real life league just isn't a go for me at the moment
There's actually Blood Bowl III incoming. I do own the earlier versions, they are amazing. Although a bit pricey when you get all the DLC races etc.
I'd argue it doesn't. Nothing could replicate the feeling of rolling your own dice.

Great video. Thank you.

Can those two be mixed together on a team?
I suck so bad at Blood Bowl. It's probably the most rage inducing game I play but I love it.
I've won multiple leagues, and its still the most rage inducing game i've played :) Skill and experience never changes that fact
I started playing Blood Bowl in 1994.
It is without question still my favorite game!
Great overview!

Received a box with Amazons today. So looking forward playing with my team.
Hope you ordered it on Amazon
A game i’ve shown some interest in of late but players are sparsely available to me atm, hopefully I’ll get the chance to try it soon.
We enjoy Blood Bowl but prefer Blitz Bowl. Our favorite fantasy-based football-like board game, however, is Slaughterball.

I have heard horror stories about some leagues, gate keeping, house rules to favour people and other nonsense.
Blood for my bowls alllllllllllllll day babyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
I had that version of the game with the Astrogranite pitch. Sold it and al of the add-ons. Bought another last edition and played ina league.
As long as you drink beer and don't take it too seriously... It's a great bit of fun.

That last bit is frequently true for GW titles.
My issue is that I never played or follow american football. I play and watch soccer and rugby but american football is something totally new
The worst part of blood bowl is how bullshit they are when they release new teams. It's so hard and so expensive to get all the rules
I'm so out of the loop with GW release stuff, what's the deal?
Ngā mihi for the te reo greeting
$200 for a starter kit thats not even assembled out of the box….. Just gonna stick with the video games….
