In the early 1970s I started an apprenticeship as a saddle maker, harness maker and strapper at the time a lot of sewing was by hand but occasionally we used the big old Pearson Lock stick machine. I do not recall the model number but do recall it had an enormous hand wheel around 18 inches across and was mounted an a heavy but still ornate tredle frame. You started the sewing on a set of traces with the hand wheel but then just used the tredle to sew and had both hands to guide the work and it was effortless. All the best.

Writers Ink I. Bought this machine a year ago, others I looked at had the treadle base and were on offer at £2000 to 2500 on eBay uk, have a look. As there was no treadle base I paid a lot less.
manuel nunez I get May needles from Aaron Martin ... www.aaronmartin.com. They are a Canadian company and stock some spares for the Pearson No 6' The needles I get are No. 23 and 25 they cost around £3 each. They are the only place you can get the needles as far as I know. Check their web page and you,ll find the info there and how to order. Be careful about the quantity you order I found it a bit confusing, I think ... 1... Means a packet of 10 needles. Best of luck
Nice machine. Looks effortless.

Yes there is a definite, though not huge, market for classic machines like these. Do you know exactly what machines you have? Where are they located?
