Tony Hawk has had the biggest impact on skating as anyone. He's been nothing but a professional for the past 40 years. Alway's 100 percent a great face for the sport. His video game actually changed skating with kids being able to visualize things in a virtual space that they could then go try for real. And if people think he's alway's had millions of dollars and has alway's been on top, think again. He went through hard times in the 90's getting Birdhouse off the ground and would do demos for nearly nothing to small crowds in the lean times. Whatever Tony has currently, he has worked his ass off to get. Great episode Nine Club.
I really hope the channel grows, 9 club is a feat for skateboarding, and entertainment in general. We all love what you guys are doing, thank you for putting in so much hard work.
facts!! I stopped skating ages ago but still love the sport, or art I should say.. 9 club+skatline keep me in the loop of whats happening these days. big up the 9 club!! one love yall
Not only was Tony hawk the most influential skater to me as a kid but the Tony hawk foundation built my hometown park here in Medford Oregon which continued my interest in skateboarding. So much love and respect for that guy man. Cheers.
Session should make this a thing. I think session will be better than skate 4 will be if it becomes a thing. Ea will destroy skate I think.. Sucks that blackbox isn't around anymore. They had plans for skate 4 and 5 too!
As a long time skater, surfer, snowboarder and windsurfer, I've got huge respect for Tony; not especially for his amazing skating, but for what he's done for the sport overall. This shows what can happen when parents get behind there kids 100%.
Happy 100 boys. Thanks for the hours of listening and viewing pleasure. You have no idea how many tough days your interviews have got me through. Keep up the good work. ✌
I love how Tony hawk is soo down to earth and super chill. He is skateboarding's saviour and most influential rider ever, no question. Without him we wouldn't be here today
He gave his life to skateboarding through sheer hard work. He never gave up on skating when the jocks were spinning him around in the air and calling him skater fag. Never gave up when skateboarding tanked, and to the contrary started Birdhouse . Never gave up when Duane Peters and others would spit on him while he would be doing his run. Never gave up when they hammered him with accusations of Nepotism because his dad Frank helped organize the events. He NEVER gave up on skateboarding and skaters should genuflect when meeting Birdman cuz that dude literally gambled his life on this thing we enjoy
Tony Hawk is such a humble guy! He has made such an impact on skateboarding and helping bridge the gap between skaters and the public. We are so lucky to have him
The Huck jam was so nuts. I went as a kid and I had all black fallen shoes. We were in the front and all the dudes would give us high fives after there runs and sigh stuff. So I had everyone sigh my shoes and when Tony came up he didn't wanna sign the black shoes because he couldn't see the other signatures so he took a paper out of his pocket that was sweaty as hell and signed it for me. I still have the paper and it has the layout for the ramps on what parts of the paper are still readable. One of my prised possessions for sure.
Same for me! Funny story..I didn’t wash my hands for a few days because I could smell the leather from high fives with the BMX and dirt bike guys. Crazy memories
What a legend! The best thing about Tony is he's still 100% skateboarder through and through like the rest of us even though he's super famous and super rich. Congrats on 100 dudes!
Funny story: time stamp 46:00 That park that sued tony was Airborn Skate Park in MI they sued us as well for stealing their "business dress code" and tried to put us out of business before we even opened. It cost us $20,000. We opened our doors needless to say they closed 3 years after we opened and we are still here.
THPS got me into skating in 1999. 19 years later still doing it. I feel there's a large portion of skaters aged ~25-35 who can relate, especially ones who grew up somewhere with no to little scene. Congrats to the Nine Club to getting to 100. Get Crob on Howard Stern!
I remember going to a birdhouse Demo in the early 90s and the whole team was sessioning and I tapped on his back I had to reach very high as I was 13 or 14 with butterflies in my stomach and he turned around and was so nice I dorkly asked for his autograph he said sure and signed my scratch paper I immediately ran outside and was ecstatic and couldn’t believe it. Thank you Tony
I discovered this show about two weeks ago, so far I have binged like 10 episodes, and it made me pick up my good ol deck back up and been skating daily for a week straight and have never felt better.
i was at the huckjam in toronto, and i saw tony lend the 900, and when the crowd went nuts and everybody was yelling and screaming and cheering, that was the single most happiest/ hyped ive ever been in my life. that was the sickest day
chuck mcnair I saw him land it in Columbus OH at the huckjam. His first 900 and the release of THPS were right when I started skating, so that holds a crazy nostalgic place in my heart...seeing him stick it in real life was pretty impactful.
i love the idea that tony wants to change material of a skateboard because of the price and the longevity. Being raised in a lower income family really made it hard to get new decks. Like always this was a amazing and informal episode!!
This was such a joy to watch. Tony Hawk gets the recognition he deserves but I still think he deserves more credit than he gets. He changed my life and lifestyle from when I was a child and I can’t thank him enough for doing the things he did. I literally grew up with his video games and they saved my life in those cold NYC winter months when that was the closest I could get to skating, not to mention the music he brought us. I became a bassist because of hearing Primus in THPS 1!!! Thank you Tony, thank you Nine Club, thank you skateboarding. Can’t wait for episode 900 when he returns!
The guy every random person knows when they hear about skateboarding is when we think about an amazing pin up for us. He’s a great guy and great skater, we are pretty damn lucky to have him on the scene being a good rolemodel.
This episode made me look T hawk i a diff light. Never knew how much he contributed from building parks to pushing skateboarding. What a legend. GOAT!!! Thank you nine club
You’re telling me.. I met Christian Hosoi and barely spoke to him. I did give him a mean handshake and popped his hand, was hella scared when I felt that 🤣
@@6ohflip i met Christian at agenda super cool humble dude. But yea i know the feeling lol wanted to meet him for years then didnt know what to say lol
Thank you and congratulations on 100 insane episodes!! This 100th episode couldn’t have been any better, so perfect dudes. So stoked to see what TNC has in store for the future. Keep these hilarious names for Kelly in the credits coming, please!
Coming back to the video that started me on my Nine Club journey. Thank you Tony for the linkup and thank you to Chris, Rog and Kelly for reminding us of, and reintroducing us to such a wide variety of skaters and filmmakers, with so many great stories and personalities in each video, they are all a pleasure to watch, listen to and learn from, with more than a few laughs along the way! 👍👍 Top Notch

Tyler Durden this might sound like a stupid question but does skatelite get more slippery with age and use? Ive never skated on it, just masonite and plywood.
You know how masonite starts out almost feeling soft to the touch with a kind of fuzz that gets worn down quickly? I think just after years of use the skatelite surface gets kind of polished smoother and smoother, kind of burnished. Plus all of the built up and worked in dust, urethane, plastic from kneepads, etc. It's a more solid surface than masonite is from the start and much more durable, so it probably continually gets harder and slicker over time. But I've never skated on any as old as what's on Tony's ramp.
Happy 100 As an old guy growing up and skating in the earlier days watching the progression has been great.Being able to relate to how skating was not cool but how it was such a small community, more than just freinds ..family..
So, I'm really late to the game with this podcast but wow! I love this. These interviews put a smile on my face. Thank you for The Nine Club. Keep up the awesome work. God bless you guys.

if skate 4 ever becomes a thing, Chris should be the right hand man/narrator like how Reda was in 2.
its being developed as skate "session" or something
Edward Duclos it’s not the same company it’s completely separate
And have nine club segments where they talk about you as you progress through the story lol
Session should make this a thing. I think session will be better than skate 4 will be if it becomes a thing. Ea will destroy skate I think.. Sucks that blackbox isn't around anymore. They had plans for skate 4 and 5 too!
genshin you beat the game and get a podcast on the nine club 😂😂 btw I don't think skate 4 is ever going to happen.

DGK DETROIT Damn right!
Definitely not jamie thomas lmao
DGK Detroit Michigan where you all be skating at
Same here the knowledge he has and great questions and is a great interviewer!
damn right
Tony hawk is such a legend and still so humble, amazing
The only thing better than having Tony Hawk as a guest on your 100th episode was the switch flip switch manny in the background
I saw Tony do the 900 on the Boom Boom Huck Jam when I was a kid 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Absolute fire.
Those Bagel Bites on the shelf, I definitely remember the commercial from when I was a little kid!
