On this day in 1972, HBO (then Home Box Office), made history as the first premium channel. Three years later, they boldly embarked on a new programming path and released cable TV's first hour-long comedy special, An Evening With Robert Klein. Robert Klein’s observational humor influenced a generation of comedians including Jerry Seinfeld, Jay Leno, Billy Crystal, and more. Filmed at Haverford College in Pennsylvania in 1975, An Evening With Robert Klein launched HBO's comedy boom and helped pave the way for a world of uncensored comedy specials.

He's an awesome stand-up comic!
His concept of "scaries" ("boo-wee-ah-woo" background music for life's weird moments), was, and still is, brilliant.
IMO, "boo-wee-ah-woo" should be the soundtrack music of our era.
