I bought one of these (for aQ-S1). The adapter would not turn all the way to the locked position in the camera body. But it turned out there was just a simple issue to solve. It turns out that the Quick Dial on the Q-S1 sticks out far enough to block one of the adapter thumb screws. This happened on three different S1s, so is definitely a "feature" of that model. It also happened two original Q bodies. The solution was simple--leave the thumb screw off until after fully locking the adapter onto the camera body. Two Q10s and two Q7s had no such problem; the Quick Dial appears to be a little flatter design on those two models. My apologies to RAF. The adapter just needs a cautionary note about working with the Q-S1 and the original Q.
Im sorry to hear your having an issue with it. Im not sure why it is causing your screen to go black because it is a passive adapter without any electronic connections 🤔 Did you specifically ask RAF for a replacement? I and several of my friends have worked with him for years and never had an issue with him offering to send a replacement if something was defective.
@@GuardianFilmworks Fits perfectly--Q, Q10, Q7, Q-S1--all of them. Just remember to remove the one thumb screw until the adapter is locked on with the Q and Q-S1. Then it works like a charm!
I am so happy to hear it all worked out for you. Sounds like RAF might need to make mention of this on his website so orhers dont run into the same issue.
Ask your tech if he can do the same for Canon XL lens to the Q - Would be fantastic to be able to use the XL1 manual zoom on a Q. For that matter, he might want to make a ring that swaps out the C/Y mount on Metabones products, to replace with a K mount ring.
Tested... Viltrox Nikon F ( 105 ED F1.4 ) to Micro 4/3 on PENTAX Q... works terrible.... a lot of spherical aberration....almost unusable.... but may try a F2.8 apochromatic lens... thanks for share
Some Micro 4/3 lenses are focus by wire so I expect these dont work. I think the aperture control is also by wire so does it only work wide open? I like using my old Pentax 110 system manual lenses on my Q with an adapter. The only pain is shutter control is done using discs to stop down.
This adapter would be for any all manual lenses even lenses made by other companies. Most Lumix and Panasonic are electronic and would not work with this adapter.
Unfortunately it wouod be physically impossible to make a M4/3 to EF adapter because of the flange distance between the two. M4/3 has a 19.25mm flange distance and EF has a 44mm flange distance. That would mean that the M4/3 lens or adapter would have to sit inside the body of the Canon camera ☹
@@GuardianFilmworks Who talked about using a Canon camera 😂. let me explain better, it would be possible to make an adapter capable of using lenses with M43 attack on an eos adapter and speedbooster mounted on a pocket 4k. Sorry for my poor english :/
@@Emix90210 it would still be impossible because of the flange distance between each mount type trying to be mixed together. If you tried you would only be able to get a very blurry out of focus image.
@@Emix90210 Duclos lenses does sell replacement mounts for the Meike conema lenses. As far as I know they only sell Sony E and Fuji X replacement mounts for the Meike cinema lenses.
It would be fun to adapt lenses of other systems. However the size advantage will be gone. In a world camera is getting smaller and phone is getting better at photography. Adapting large lens simply defeat the purpose of a small camera. The act of adapting is fun though, but greatly reduce usability and portability of a small camera system and not necessarily produce better IQ at all.

Now all is well. Though I'm still curious why the LCD went dark when the thumb screw was blocked. Mystery of physics, I guess.

Thanks for share... it is a good time for Q owners because are coming very fast lenses for M4/3
Now you can use some of the Voitlanders, 7Artisans or Kamlan super fast lenses on your Pentax Q 😊
Fantastic Paul !
That definitely extends possibilities
Being able to use a speedbooster even allows for easier nighttime photography
Raf is epically awesome!

I can certainly ask him. Im sure it would all depend on flange distance between the two.
Wow! This is awesome! I just got my q and I want to try this out. My original 02 lense is noisy so I would be happy to try something new.
M4/3 to Nikon 1 would be great too.
That would make for a good pair.

If you really want to go low light, get a Metabones Devil's Speed Booster. With an f/1.2 Nikon lens you can get down to f/0.666
I wonder what would happen if you could use a similar type of speedbooster but with the Canon 55mm f/0.95 dream lens 🤔
Hi Charles... have you tested the Metabones 0.666 devil booster ?
I have been looking for a Sony E-mount to Q adapter.
An E to Q adapter would be harder, maybe not impossible, to make since the flange differences are much closer.
