Diamond of the Year 2023 - Nadia Nickels | Challenge Cancer

Where there is a woman, there is magic and this is precisely what the Diamond of the Year Award celebrates. Every year at the Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend Gala Dinner, this award is presented to a woman of our community who consistently goes above and beyond to support Challenge. It is awarded to a woman who embodies the essence of what it means to be a Challenge person.
With so many amazing women in our community, the selection process is never easy and there is always more than one worthy candidate.
The 2023 recipient is an outstanding contributor to the organisation, volunteering on a regular basis, making a huge impact behind the scenes and also directly with families.
Her own personal journey with a child diagnosed with cancer has provided her with an understanding and insight which she now passes on to other families, in her role as a volunteer. For many years, this woman has been a reliable and friendly face at the Challenge office, offering assistance in any capacity she can.
She is incredibly humble. She doesn’t boast about her accomplishments, instead, she quietly goes about her life, doing great work and treating everyone with respect and kindness.
She is generous and selfless, freely sharing her time, resources, and energy. She doesn’t do this for recognition or reward, but simply because she believes in helping others.
A person who is both humble and generous is someone who truly understands the importance of empathy, compassion, and community. This is exactly what the Diamond of the Year Award is all about.
