      another idea you could melt the perler beads with the iron and then quickly plop the plastic sheet you made into a bowel. Use that as a catch all or you can glue together 2 and make a 3-d charm or Christmas ornament?

      Karen Kavett I'm only 1 minute in ..... pony beads do melt ... you have to do in the oven ... if you have cupcake/ muffin tins ... pie tins ( if you want a big shape ) OR tin cookie cutters in shapes..... and what ever design you want
      Put the oven on 400% & 15 to 20 mins ( I THINK ??? ) .... watch the RUclips ch. "WhatsUpMoms" she makes a video on it

    I did pony beads in a metal cookie cutter in the oven with my daughter & she gave them out for Christmas. We did beads that we're mostly see through colors & some had glitter so they could be suncatchers. As long as you pop them out of the cookie cutter & make a hole the SECOND you take them out they work great & are super cute! You also can't get them wrong-my daughter is 4 and has Cerebral Palsy so it was a lot of her just dumping the beads & they still looked great!

    Keep chopsticks or unsharpened pencils handy when using your heat gun. They work great to hold your melty stuff in place. You can donate all of your remaining beads to a school. Lots of teachers and after-school art programs love bead donations. Thanks for sharing!

    What about trying to draw a shape onto the parchment paper before ironing the beads down? Trace the pattern on both sides of the paper, and then cut through both after melting?

  • @CherishedPlaytime
    @CherishedPlaytime 5 лет назад +1

    We still have a ton of pony beads too.
    Also, the texture of the ironed perler beads depends on how long you iron each side. I’ve done it and had it end up with tiny holes like your pony bead version.

    I don't know what kind of moulds yours are, but there are silicone moulds meant for baking on the oven. Maybe the mould idea would work better with those?

    If you want to use the heat gun you have to use the mini Perler Beads & you should makes sure that you have paper on both sides. If you want to melt the beads into a shape using perler beads you stick it into the oven. Just like you can makes enamel dots using perler beads and your oven. Plus you save so much money when melting the beads instead of buying a package of enamel dots from a craft store.

    I saw on Pinterest that you can melt a e perler bead into a circle. You need to put a perler bead straight up and hold the iron over it until it melts. I hope that I have given you an idea 💡💕🤞🏻

  • @GNO90z
    @GNO90z 7 лет назад

    You can put either one of the beads in the cookie cutter on a cookie sheet and putting it In the want oven. And to cut just heat up a knife and the same for a needle to pool a hole :)

    How about trying these beads in a silicone mould rather than a plastic mould? I love that you do these interesting experiments, and thanks to this one I now know that I won't be doing this. But I really like your kind of enquiring mind and watching what you do in these vids. Thanks.

  • @Ali626AMM

    Once you get your shape close to how you want it couldn't you reheat it to shape it better? Like the initial got all twisted when you cut it, but if you held the iron above it for a minute to reheat it would it lay back down flat? You could also try tin snips for cutting the plastic and heating the piercing tool to make the hole. Using the cookie cutter as a cookie cutter has already been suggested. I saw a warning once that these need to be well ventilated if melted in the oven. Hopefully this helps someone trying this. I gave all mine to my nieces or I'd try it myself. You tried a lot of things to make it work. Good job.
