  • Started off early leaving the shelter before 7am, slept wonderful! A lot of downhill to a road crossing in Hampton Tennessee where I saw a sign for black bear resort and cafe, so I walked .4 miles down the road and made it at 10:30 for last call for breakfast, got the big pancake platter and finished it in 5 minutes, the chef said only 1 other person has finished it. Then I went to the country store and bought a pint of ice cream and root beer and downed that too haha. Hiker hunger is real, I’m a garbage disposal! Bought some snacks and then Linda drove me back the .4 to the trailhead. The terrain was so amazing today, fluffy, rock outcroppings everywhere and Laurel Falls was INCREDIBLE! Much that be best waterfall on the AT. Trecked on to Watauga Lake where the boots off hostile called my name. Stopped to sign the log book, met some great folks, ate a Totinos pizza, another pint of ice cream, hot pocket, bbq sandwich, and a lil Debbie’s cookies and cream snack. Headed out at 5:30 for 9 more miles of uphill. Lake and dam were gorgeous! Wanna come back here for sure. Kept looking for a great sunset spot but trees were towering over the ridgeline :( found a great spot to setup for a beautiful sunrise tomorrow! Cheeehooooo!
