Many people consider the ‘90s to be Mercedes’ finest decade, and there are many models to support that argument. However, that incredibly smooth and silky 5.4-litre V8 made its way into the early ’00s SL55 AMG. The luxury convertible was designed to eat its way across the European countryside with minimal effort and the ability to waft past any dawdling drivers. It has one of the sweetest engine notes of any Mercedes regardless of era. For those of you in your 30s and above, it may be a slight dagger to your heart to start considering this a classic, but unfortunately time waits for no-one.
