Plastic pan is probably so much easier to install in bulk in a place like a hotel. I envy the ease but I really think it looks cheesy and like it will not go the distance.
You will be surprised how popular fibreglass shower pans will become in the USA especially when the quality and color and types of shower pans increase. In Europe and UK these shower pans are more common and have been for over 70 years when done well they are excellent the importance with those types of shower pans the importance is to ensure the transitions to walls level floors and drainage is done well. Of course most bathrooms are not the same and indeed if following plumbing code with appropriate distances between toilets and showers these fibreglass shower pans are not an option on reality.
the thing about those comercial jobs in nobody is going to want to spend 2-3 even four days tileing a single bathroom to get thing as near perfect as possible. the contractor is going to want to see them get in there and tile out at least couple a rooms a day, get the entire floor done slop down some grout and gtfo as fast a possible so the next trade can come in an do the same thing. And as a result of the hurry up this should have been done yesterday the overall quality of the workmanship goes down. what you pay for a night there is probably about what was charged in labour to tile one of those rooms.

Running bond is usually 1/2 ... Stack bond is full tile...
Right... I call it stacked but others will call it running bond...half is just "half stagger"
