This is the best version of this I’ve ever heard, not just because of her amazing voice, but because of her interpretation. I love that it’s more mature, almost like they are already in a relationship that’s getting serious instead of a crazy girl meeting someone for the first time (if that makes sense). There’s just more emotion and playfulness behind the comedy
I think this version has the most heart. The performance is so honest and innocent, the Jewishness is funny but it's not the butt of the joke. I love it so much
Can't get enough of this amazing performance. She is a true talent having made such genuine choices vocally and theatrically. Grateful to be able to experience via RUclips.
I hate comparing performances, but I just love and prefer Alysha’s confidence and playfulness, then her trying to convince the person toward the end. The emotions throughout the song are just on point!
I'm annoyed at these comments. Liking an artist's performance but still comparing them to another artist who you think did it better without giving any actual constructive criticism. Stop that shit right now. If you think they can improve tell them what to improve, don't be like " did it better :/" and then be done with it. Annoyances aside, the performance was great. Your take on the song is a lot more relaxed than what I've seen before and unlike with other people it doesn't come across lackluster.
Lucifag I'm a bit annoyed as well and I understand where you're coming from, but Barrett's performance could just be their cup of tea, and not this, while still seeing how great this would be for anyone else
to be fair, Barrett Wilbert Weed for me captures the essence of the song more with her facial expressions, the lyrics for me scream desperation/infatuation/childhood crush, rather than love at first sight, and barrett's exquisitely happy face make her seem deludedly happy and fit perfectly my interpretation of the song. On the other hand, I enjoy Alisha Umpress's vocals more :) I love how clear and beautiful her voice rings.
I totally agree. It can be really annoying when people say that sort of stuff like nah shit it’s not gonna sound the same, if your disappointed she don’t sound more like Barrett go watch Barrett.
Her voice is gorgeous. Her take on it is more flirtatious compared to Wilbert's more awkward take which I prefer but that's just a personal preference Though I do wish she didn't pull some of the words so much like her stretch on 'mother'. Again just a personal preference. It doesn't take away from her performance and her voice is still AMAZING
This is better than Barrett's for one reason: SHE FREAKING PRONOUNCES KVETCH RIGHT it annoys me so much that in every song people act like it's two syllables. I complain about this almost daily. Thank you.
Can some lovely helpful person tell me if this is in G major coz all the karaoke versions are way too high and I don’t like how they sounddddd thank you
I love her voice. Beautiful! Wonderful! But I don’t feel her love of the person she’s singing to and she doesn’t portray the importance behind switching religions for love. But once again props to the B-E-A-UTIFUL voice!
I think it's the vulnerability that Barrett brings. Alysha is a more skilled singer, but she sings this song with a load of confidence. Barrett brings this lovely note of desperation like she's genuinely begging. Which you like better is probably dependent on how you like to see the song approached--a confident proposal or a longing plea.
Ok. Stop. I love Barretts too, but this isn't Barretts video. Stop comparing them and appreciate this video. Person who responded, thank you for highlighting both singers skills in a mature way, that's great. But if all your gonna say is that she "isn't as good" then don't say anything
Barett sure killed this, but so did Alysha!
Naïli Cheballah Agreed but Barret had a special awkwardness to it that made me enjoy
I love how she says “I’m joking.” Arrrrgh this is so good

She is so freaking talented it almost unfair. She's got an amazing range and THOSE RIFFS!! I strive to have a tenth of her talent.
Love how no one laughs at the part about the Torah and cover to cover
OMG, I didn't even catch that! I should have known, though.
Tucker Harris I dont get it? I missing something arent i?😂
The Torah doesn't have a cover, it is a scroll or a possibly a set of them.... IDK i'll have to ask one of my Jewish friends
Correct. A scroll, so two spools, no "cover."
nicksurfs1 a scroll
I love that full, naturally ringing voice
she just has a really nice voice. sits well in my ears. i could imagine her releasing audio books, she just has that voice quality.
Gorgeous and I love when she used the "accent" but I LOVED Barret's key and awkwardness and overall performance.
Signaco Scuba She said she liked them both though. . .
Haley Franke Same...I love how each performer gives their own flare to such a lovely and funny song!
I'm strangely in love with her lil riff at 3:50. Such a talented and funny performer.
I saw her on Broadway a year or two ago! She is the hopeless romantic cab driver in On The Town!
Ashley Overstreet loved that show 😍
As a convert myself, this is incredible!
She looks so much like Rachel McAdams.. it's insane!
Can't get enough of this amazing performance. She is a true talent having made such genuine choices vocally and theatrically. Grateful to be able to experience via RUclips.
Hahaha oh my god it's like the female's response to JRB's Shiksa Goddess!!! So, so great!! :D
Katie Horner YES
The rocking at the end is absolutely priceless!!!
bonbonquest funny how I read it just as she did that lol
This is my favorite cover of this song like brooooo
Marcia Hunt Sameeee
I’ve listened to several versions of this song and her voice is definitely the prettiest I’ve heard. Well done!
I hate comparing performances, but I just love and prefer Alysha’s confidence and playfulness, then her trying to convince the person toward the end. The emotions throughout the song are just on point!
Yo WTF I've watched this a million times and just noticed shes wearing a hat
kingikiller I really like this comment
yea same :P , well obviously we were just stunned by her talent and beauty :D
i dated a Jewish kid and this is so accurate. Love it!
Was it nice? I'm Jewish as well
Truly an amazing voice.

I prefer the Kate Smith version.

"But i wont SAY goodbye" 😍

Her voice is AMAZING
I watch this at least a couple of times a day!
This is a riot!
I just watched The Last Five Years, and this song made me so sad.
Holy shit her range!
Did anyone else hear the New York accent on 1:33? No... just me?
Abigail Whittall I hear it now
I heard clearly! And thought the same thing!
i hear it
Great voice! So funny!
She’s so talented oh my god
Lovely, thanks
This is great!
I love Barret's faux-unintentional awkwardness more though
Apsolutly fantastic!
Amazing
Beautiful! And funny!!
Ok In all the versions I’ve watched lyrics have changed slightly.
This is just adorable!!
3:49 is absolutely lush
Wait I love it in this key
I love everything about this !!
I love this ❤️
Great job! Brava!
Delivery is just spot on!
i love her!
love this!
This song is my life
*PERFECT SONG FOR KYMAN*
This is better than Barrett's for one reason: SHE FREAKING PRONOUNCES KVETCH RIGHT
it annoys me so much that in every song people act like it's two syllables. I complain about this almost daily. Thank you.
+Becca Moses she did it in two syllables like barrett so idk what you're on about
i think Barrett did it on purpose because the character isn't jewish
Barret did that on purpose
LOVE this! (But some of my aunts, well, maybe they wouldn't!)
Anyone have any idea where I can backing track for this?
U might love our MT comedy song, "It's All About Me"
I love her
this is basically a great romatic comedy plot condensed into 4:18
I just noticed that I was singing this in front of my boyfriend and he is Jewish
So much better
She looks abit like Regina George forgot the actresses name
Rachel mcaddams TRUE
Does anyone know what key she is singing this in?
Diana Carey F#
Is there a karaoke version of this version?
What key is it in?
i honestly need the lyrics for this
what key is this in?
does anybody have the full lyrics to this song for free
Can some lovely helpful person tell me if this is in G major coz all the karaoke versions are way too high and I don’t like how they sounddddd thank you
It's actually G-flat, about a half step down from G.
I personally love her version better than Barrets.
Does anyone know what key this is in? It sounds lower than most of the versions I've heard
Natalie Thompson the original is in the Key of A I think she moved it down to the key of F#
SOS, what key is this in?!
Jordyn Kraffert F#
It's not bad, but I really like Barret Wilbert Weed's version better.
Is anyone able to identify the key ...?
F#
what key?!?!
F#
Better sound. She is OK by moi!
She has little changes in the lyrics, though she dropped the horxus joke, so that's too
I love her voice. Beautiful! Wonderful! But I don’t feel her love of the person she’s singing to and she doesn’t portray the importance behind switching religions for love. But once again props to the B-E-A-UTIFUL voice!
From what musical is this song?
It's actually not from a musical at all. However, if you like this, I recommend the last five years ☺️ xxעומר ז

Awesome but I def love Barrett's better

That's a fabulous way to put it! Totally agreed!

Mensch means man
Dhsg Hbbgh no it doesn't. It means "good person" or "saint" or something like that in Yiddish
Means good respectful boy
It means person of Integrity or honor.
triggered
Trisha paytas who
everyone spelled barrett wrong lmao
You've had too many bagels.
She looks so much like Rachel McAdams.. it's insane!
Doesn't she though? I also thought she kind of looked like a cross between her and Hayley Atwell.
From the side she kinda reminds me of Hayley Atwell
She looks like scarjo!!
Does anyone know what key she's singing in ?
