Hey Mike, thanks for all the info on this Amazon product! My question is: has the titanium color faded over the past 2 years? It seems lighter in this video vs the original post. Obviously this could just be the lighting as well. Thanks for any help!
They have these for sale on Amazon for $470 now, do you know what color yours is? I want the Titanium Grey but if yours is that color maybe ill paint it. Would you still recommend in 2024 or spend $200-300 more for Thule?
I did a full unboxing of this in the previous video with some details. If you want to paint it like your car, you should get the titanium color like mine. Otherwise, it is a rough, pebbled texture that does not match with most cars. Mine still works, but I damaged it and the top coat is coming off now. I've since got a new car, and moved to Thule out of convenience of switching locks to one key system. go.mikemu.com/thuleroof
Could I bother you to measure how long the slots are that the clamps pass through? I can't find the information anywhere else and complaints in the Amazon reviews only reveal so much detail. It's been so tricky finding a roof box for my little '90s car, and this is one of only a couple that wouldn't look too long or tall on top of it. But of course my factory cross bars are a massive 4.5" wide (I did find that those clamps allow up to 3.35"), so I'd have to swap the clamps for U-bolts to make it work. I just want to make sure the slots are long enough before spending the money.
There is a differently branded box which looks like it is made by the same factory and sold under the name of Galaxy Auto. These come in 3 sizes. Their listed locations show one in Canada and one in USA. I saw it in person yesterday and will get one the smallest one for my Honda Fit this week. Only difference seems to be it has a textured surface of light grey/dark grey instead of gloss on Mike’s.
This thing is a piece of junk. Super flimsy and poorly made. Second time using it and the hinges already came off. Don't waste your time. It's nothing but a headache

Thanks for the review, I was looking at a used one and this answers my questions!

Find a resource for spare parts? I’ll be looking for spare hinges, rubber, locks, etc.. to just have on hand.
Thanks for the update, super encouraging! I see you’ve got a wind deflector, how does it help?
Hi Greg. It does not help with the roof box. I use it for other things, like roof baskets.

Hi Mike, where did you buy it? is that the original color?
Amazon. Linked in description. Yes it was the original color choice at the time.

@@MikeMu Thank you so much! I haven't pulled the trigger on a roof box yet, but this one's still a top choice.
Can I use this on factory/standard cross bar?
That’s how I use it. Just note the limitations of the crossbars and load limits and be careful not to exceed.
Is this one size?
Yes.
@@MikeMu awesome. I got a 2016 Crosstrek
