Six slandering Jiraiya. But Jiraiya's story is one with which many men can relate. So many men have died with multiple, serious regrets. It's a moving tale. And the most important part is that he never gave uo, and he instilled valuable lessons that inspired his pupil to save the world.

In defence of Guy, it’s his attitude, values and relationships with Kakashi and Lee that makes him so great to me. Moments like him being willing to die alongside Lee if the surgery went wrong, him challenging Kakashi to a race when the village was destroyed, boosting everyones moral and showing how much he cares for Kakashi, as he now thinks they won’t be able to do such things with Kakashi being Hokage, have always stuck out to me. I don’t care how strong he is, but that man does everything for the people he cares about. He’s honest, dependable and hard working and I love him for it

If this is true than it goes to show kishimoto had no clue what he was doing with the series and just kinda got lucky with all his brilliant assistant that made the series what it is today. Like bro look at samurai 8 that manga didn't even last for more than a year. Kishimoto is a fraud cause if you gave oda or kubo a chance to write another manga series. I'm sure they would do so and not get cancelled after the 9th chapter. 😂😂😂😂😂 Kishimoto didn't write Naruto his assintans did.

Now I can, because Lee and the chunin exams were SO popular, understand why one would think that the overarching theme of the series is "Hard work trumping talent" instead of "Overcoming hatred." Unless you believe that there can be multiple overarching themes to a series instead of one, I'll compare and contrast the two with every arc, starting with:
    1. The prologue - We see Naruto's position within the village and how he's treated with loathing and isolation. I believe his interaction with Mizuki and Iruka is a perfect example of one overcoming hatred against him to see the good in Naruto, while the other falls deeper into it to the point that they take drastic action(like trying to use and kill him).
Overcoming talent wasn't even a point here, as Naruto learned the shadow clone jutsu fairly quickly(and couldnt learn the clone jutsu because his chakra control was shit due to his large amounts of chakra)
    2. The Land of Waves - Haku grew up in a situation similar to Naruto, being hated for the power he possessed. Instead of choosing the path of vengeance, Haku fought because he loved Zabuza, and paired with Zabuza's final actions, Naruto became inspired to model his ninja way after them.
Haku set the precedent of introducing characters that would reflect Naruto himself, not based on talent but instead on how far into hatred they had fallen. There is a reason why Haku, who didn't fall to hatred, was such an inspiration to Naruto.
Now, I'll talk about the theme of overcoming talent. There isn't one. Naruto uses the 9 Tails power(which many of you believe goes against the theme of the Chuunin exams) by this point to take down a genius, not his own power
    3. The Chunin Exams- The main theme of the Chunin exams is overcoming talent with hard work, but overcoming hatred is also present here. Gaara is a representation of what Naruto could have been if he fell into the cycle, and Naruto began to fear him after that because of the similarities the two share. I believe that it was this arc that Naruto also expressed the hatred HE used to have for the village in the past(something we later figure out he still has with the waterfall of truth).
On top of that, the MAIN point of this arc was to present a psuedo war between the nations using the Genin to show off their future military power. If this doesnt foster hatred(and a long list of other fucked up shit), I dont know what else does
    4. Sand Invasion arc(do people consider this a separate arc to the Chuunin exams?) - Much of the same thing with the parallels between Naruto and Gaara, but with the addition of Naruto using the 9 Tails power to summon Gamabunta to fight Shukaku. I don't believe hard work trumping talent was really reinforced here
    5. Tsunade arc - Naruto learned the Rasengan WAY faster than the Toad Sage Jiraiya(could he be a genius?). He worked hard just to fail but succeeded in the end due to thinking outside of the box.
Meanwhile, Orochimaru felt hatred towards the Leaf and wanted to heal his hands to continue his path of destruction, yet was taken down with the help of Tsunade, who overcame her hatred via loss of her loved ones due to Naruto simply being there for her in her time of need
    6. Sasuke retrieval arc - Naruto had two main fights, one with Kimimaru and one with Sasuke. For both fights, he used the 9 Tails to try and gain the upper hand(though Lee came in to represent hard work and got bodied until Gaara showed up, so there you go, I guess).
The main point of the arc was a parallel between Naruto and Sasuke, as the latter is falling into hatred for his vengeance
Now, many believe that hatred only rose to prominence as the main theme in Shippuden, spitting on everything that OG Naruto set up regarding overcoming talent with hardwork, but that is not the case.
I could go over the shippuden arcs like I did here with the OG arcs, but seeing as overcoming talent with hard work is RARELY seen there in comparison to hatred, which is much more pronounced at that point, I'm simply going to move on.

I can think of one thing about Shisui that makes him so loved by the fanbase. There are a lot of characters in Naruto that are older brother/friend/mentor figures for another character. And we all know how much we love Itachi. And Shisui was shown as an older brother character for Itachi at the very beginning of Itachi's way as ninja. In a way I think Shisui being there for Itachi, helping him, guiding him kind of the same way Itachi did later on for Sasuke when Sasuke was still a kid, this is what makes Shisui so loved. Some of the love Itachi gets is also transferred to Shisui for that. I agree that he is not that important for story, didn't get any character development or anything. It's more like respect and love for helping Itachi than anything else.
And I disagree about Jiraiya, but that's probably more of my subjective love for him. He is a great character.

True, throughout the time we got to watch him, we got the impression of a kind, caring yet powerful pacifist. He was the template and rolemodel for Itachi as well as his initial motivation. Upon being ridiculously fast and being the owner of one of the coolest sharingan ability, its no wonder in my mind why people like him. He's like Kira from Bluelock, a waste of character design. Gone before we could really see them do anything besides die (metaphorically for Kira) to motivate a more impactful character. Power scalers do be wiling tho. Koto is powerful but not that powerful.

I think this is true for most long running epic fantasy style series in general, even the most famous novels like Wheel of Time, Shannara and Riftwar for example are extremely famous and highly praised even though they get heavily criticized for being filled with terrible slogs and disappointing moments. I think the series still did plenty of things well such as certain themes of empathy and hatred, we still had great characters like Sasuke, Kakashi, Obito, Nagato, Itachi, the Chunin Exams, Sasuke Retrieval, and Pain’s Assault are all top shonen arcs imo, the art is great, but it also did some things wrong, like… aliens? In a series… about ninja? HUH?!
Madara was done dirty at the end, certain characters are just forgotten and completely sidelined, the intriguing power system kinda just throws its rules out by the end, the writing can be inconsistent at times, and a few other things. Naruto is heavily underated on the female character cast.
Not only throughout the story you have women on the same level as great men, like Sakura and Chiyo winning against an Akatsuki member, but during the first phase of the fight against Madara, it's two men and two women, the kages, the ones to fight them and lose together.
When people say Naruto doesn't have good female characters, they don't even know what a good female character is. They have a heavy ideological feminist bias, because women in this story kick a$$ and are crucial parts of the story in various moments.
Again, when they say Naruto doesn't have good female characters, they don't mean that, what they're really saying is that they wanted Sakura on the same level as Naruto and Sasuke, or more accurate, they wanted Sakura to be the real protagonist, as most recent American productions have done, where the male protagonist is a nobody compared to the bada$$ female secondary character.

A lot of women in naruto are diluted in the background and don’t really have anything special about them. The very few that do are usually outshined by there male counterparts. I feel like Sakura gets way too much hate from some people, and not enough from others, instead of there being a middle-ground. Personally, I think that she has some absolutely incredible moments of character writing. Note that I say "moments though". Here are what I think are the moments that made her great, and horrible, arc by arc:
*-The Land of Waves:* I initially found her insanely annoying due to her insane crush, but learned to like her through the shared respect that was gained between her and the bridgebuilder in the first arc.
*-The Chunnin Exams and Sasuke Retrieval Mission:* She had a great scene where she cut off her hair, as a way to cement her progress towards independence. Her fight against Ino, and it's way of conveying their relationship, and how we pettily throw away the things we love due to our immaturity. And how even if they still immaturely crush on Sasuke to a crazy extent, they now realize how it also stupidly blinded them from their own friendship. What broke the nail in the coffin for her, about how immature the reality of her obsession was, ended up being Sasuke leaving and shutting her selfish ideals down
*-Shippuden until post Pain Arc:* She actually truly became a character that was independent and finally understood the value in team 7 as a whole, and not just sasuke. She learned that she had been focusing too hard on what she couldn't do, rather then realizing her strengths in knowledge, medicine, and still a certain level of combat (though i completely disagree with sasori vs Sakura being #1, even if i enjoyed it).
*-The Kage Summit:* Now here is the bad part. Here is where i believe she got screwed over. She told Naruto, that she loved him. Her intention in trying to stop him from worrying about sasuke, was kind, but it was written so horribly, that it made the smartest team member seem like an absolute buffoon. She was made to somehow think that she could not only make Naruto give up on Sasuke, but also that she could kill him, and she went about doing so in the most disrespectful way she could have ever done.
*-4th Ninja War:* She managed to greatly help with the medical efforts, and even strategizing. She even eventually surpassed her own master and became the most proficient medical ninja. I too was sour faced at her remark of catching up to Naruto and Sasuke. Though I very much think that an aspect people fail to remember is that her conversation was all about how the 3 of them had surpassed their "masters", and have each become strong in their own ways. She was not referring to physical strength, but rather self accomplishment. After helping Naruto, Sasuke, and Obito deal with Kaguya, she learned to respect Sasuke as his own person, and accept him as his true self, and not some edgy cute kid.
*-Boruto, and Sasuke Retsuden:* She is back with all the good (plus more) and none of the bad.
*In conclusion* , I find that a lot of her story was actually great, and I loved it. But I absolutely understand the hate she gets for how sometimes Kishimoto just pretends that she never developed, and makes her into that same immature young girl who just can't see past her own selfish points of view. I really hope that it was just a miscommunication, and that Kishimoto just failed to put his thoughts into words correctly. But looking beyond that, I do feel like she is very underrated for the aspects of her that were done right, instead of ignoring the bad, or the good.

I think that Sakura would have been a much more favored character if 2 scenes were changed: Her confession to Naruto and her confrontation with Sasuke.
If, instead of confessing, she told Naruto the truth, then the audience might have gotten to see two diametrically opposed viewpoints on the life and judgment of a cherished one turned criminal. It would be interesting to see the two go back and forth on what mattered instead of the bullshit that didn't.
Her confrontation with Sasuke, however, needs a bit of preparation. First, don't have Sakura knock out her teammates. Second, have all of team Taka appear AFTER Danzo is defeated. Third, have the two ragtag teams fight.
If everything goes well, then Sakura will fight Karin to show the audience how their love for Sasuke set them on radically different paths. "Im a ninja before im a girl in love!". Sakura could even unleash her diamond seal to take down Jugo(who beat Kiba) and fight Sasuke(who beat Lee), though Sasuke would need to get amped so that he doesnt get bodied(like the full body Susano'o, which would line up with Madara who could do the same thing with his MS). By the end, we could still have a Team 7 reunion(plus Sai who is fighting Suigetsu somewhere).
Cuz, in my opinion, these two events assassinated her character HORRIBLY!

It's easily in my top 10 but not in my top 3 or even top 5. I don't think it's overrated or underrated. It's exactly where it needs to be for the majority of the community, it's just up to the individual where it is for themselves. Most One Piece fans think it's dogwater Trash and most diehard Naruto fans think it's the best work of art that's ever touched paper.
But most people recognize it as great. Part of the big 3. Clown on it a little for the 48% filler but still recognize that it deserved the majority of the praise it gets.
It definitely deserves criticism for the bad ending with Kaguya, Kishitmotos inability to write compelling female characters, how he made a cast too big for himself to ever write all of them to the potential they initially had (rock Lee especially) and how everything Boiled down to everything being focused around the Uchiha.
There's a lot more problems I could mention but after everything's set and done, most people overlook the problems for what the story does right. Even though it's only #7 in my top 10, I still think that Naruto has some of the best villains of any series I've ever read or watched. I agree that Sasuke is the best character. Extremely downplayed in the manga community, often for really petty reasons, without bothering to understand what the character is about. It's impressive how realistic he acts as a survivor of massacre and torture, how wracked he is by the survivor's guilt that leads him on the path on self-destruction. How he both adores and despises his tormentor brother, how he strikes back against those who wish to control his choices (from team 7 to Orochimaru, Itachi and Obito). How he desperately rages against the society that ruined his clan.
My only major problem is that he doesn't really fit in the shonen genre, at least not one as idealistic as Naruto, where talk no jutsu solves all problems. He could've easily been a great seinan protagonist with some tweaks here and there, especially the ending.

Naruto has to beat a villains ass just for them to listen to him talk in the first place, and even then he only talks to people that can be reasoned with.
The whole point of "talk no jutsu" is that Naruto is trying to rise above hatred by understanding his opponent and hopefully dragging them out of the mental mess they are in by getting them to change their views.
For the themes of the series, these fit. And every one of them are pretty philosophical to boot. Naruto is more of a story about "one"s mentality", and talking gets to the core of ir.

Let's talk about Lee, though my first post should be enough to know where he stands in relation to both Naruto and the story, so I'll leave it with this: While it is true that Naruto never had to train as hard as Lee PHYSICALLY, that was never the point(once again, he has the 9 Tails to make things easier on that front). While Lee has to struggle with the physical, Naruto has to struggle with the mental aspects of his character, to not fall into the cycle that is the main theme of the show, hatred(of course there will be physical aspects, its shounen. But a story following the mental aspects of a character can be just as inspiring).
Honestly, with how Lee(Hardwork) lost his fight against Gaara(Talent), it seems to me that the theme of the chunin exams isnt "Hard work trumps talent", but instead can be interpreted as "Hardwork(Lee) MAY be able to trump talent(Gaara), but talented hardworkers(Naruto) trumps all." A very real indication of the real world.

Meanwhile the main character is literal magic wizard ninja royalty who has received every blessing imaginable from the Gods.
In a good story, that guy would be the villain.

In my opinion Sasuke is both overhated and overated, Part 1 sasuke was a masterpiece and all the haters completely misunderstand his character, Hebi sasuke the timeskip sasuke up till itachi fight is also a perfect successor to part 1 sasuke, everything about him was beautiful from character design, combat style, writing and especially the dull and cold Demeanor because it showed how much the isolation with orochimaru and kabuto changed him yet he still kept his morals, but as soon as the convoluted itachi retcon backstory took place sasukes character writing and design was tarnished and only went downhill from there, to me Part 1 to Hebi sasuke is the best character in the series but i think the change in sasukes writing up till the end of Shippuden and potentially boruto make his character drop all the way to B+, that's how bad the changes are imo, his character never made sense and was only a worse version of the previously shown sasuke in the series, he had some funny moments like walking on the limping danzo or the laugh but that's pretty much it, after the war ends and sasukes on his shadow hokage journey that version of sasuke has some of the qualities of hebi sasuke from the early Shippuden series and it's no coicidence that hes super likable, but yes because of how good and missunderstood part 1 sasuke is with the emo hate and edgylord term spammers, i say hes overhated, but with the other side that people say sasuke was perfect all the way through naruto and actually love taka and war arc sasuke or boruto I see him as super overated, sasukw had a peak in the end of the itachi fight and to me only dropped from there and kinda climbed slightly back up with the shadow hokage arc but then dropped down in boruto, and I won't rant on each scenario and example on bad writing moments from Sasuke after the truth about itachi because i have in other videos, but yea that's all I'll say on sasukes character, but this brings up itachi, the most overated character in anime, I've seen some people cry when itachi died in the sasuke fight and that was before the retcon backstory so i find it odd that people sympathize with a pyschopath, he was a decent antagonist in part 1 and set up sasukes motivation and amazing character, was fine in early Shippuden but the retcon backstory makes itachis character look really stupid and goes against his big brain worship that the characters have for him and also take away the weight of his fight vs sasuke, the whole idea that he planned it out is stupid I do still think sasuke suprised him alot but the idea that itachi held back is dumb, itachi also torturing a 7year old sasuke was clear pyschopath behavior and made 0 sense to be retconned, killing innocent kids and moms even sasukes mom but leaving Sasuke Alive made no sense, if u wanna keep you sasuke alive keep the mom alive to, why kill the mom, also why not tell sasuke the truth and have sasuke and his mom live in a different village, also why kill the clan that was only discriminated because obito used the ninetails on the leaf, it just made itachis character look stupid especially with the fact danzo swiped shisuis eye and that whole thing made shisui look pathetic, even tho itachi worshipping the leaf was horrible character writing the fact that after he did it and what he did to sasuke and then instead of kishimoto keeping the pyschopath storyline retcon it and made itachi this genuinely stupid character who thought it was a good idea to almost kill sasuke twice and then rig the fight against him so he can be a "hero" made 0 sense, and what makes it worse is somehow the naruto fanbase actually worships this cringy retconned version of the character, the whole war arc moment of itachi apologizing was him apolozing for his horrible writing it was in our face but somehow the community cries at that moment, again even if we ignore taka sasukes horrible writing and itachis, why would sasukw wanna destroy the leaf thaf itachi killed the clan for and on top of that not target the elders and I wont even talk about sasukes cheesy dialogue in the war arc, the hokage bit or sasukes revolution bs, I wouldn't mind the horrible retcon if it just ruined itachi but it had to ruin sasuke

The alatski as a whole are overated each of them, hidan is probably universally disliked hes a trash character so i won't talk about him, kakazu had such interesting elements about him but died to the worst team and also kakashi in a 2v1, like what was that fight it made kakazu look like shlt, how u gonna take that long in the fight and then have narutos come out of nowhere an hour later with a 10hr charge jutsu and thats how he dies, zetsu is trash tbh, kisame was a decent character but wasn't utilized well, diedara died by basically being a crybaby the fact he killed himself even tho sasuke just wanted itachi made no sense, Deidara hates itachi yet wasn't telling sasuke where he was? I love the Deidara fight because i love sasuke and that was sasukes best fight but that fight also made Deidara look like an idiot, konan waa fodder for her to not destory the rinnegan and get no diffed by jiraya in his encounter, like her whole character was being nagatos puppet, pretty lame if u ask me, pain himself had incredible feats and amazing logic but for him to just regress and listen to narutos cheesy "talk no jutsu" and also revive the people he killed was horrible writing, not only did they miss the opportunity to make naruto an anti hero and have an arc dedicated to his own dark path similar to sasuke, they revived the people that added tension to the arc to begin with, kakashis death was iconic and for him to just be revived made his death pointless and his fight vs pain borderline unrewatchable, but yea pains another overated character for a villian to reset what he did makes his impact almost meaningless, itachi i already explained why hes the most overrated character in anime, obito to me was more interesting as masked tobi always thought his unmasked look was super ugly, his writing was decent i guess, but again his unmasked design looked way too ugly and always distracted me and i didn't like his personality especially paried up with madara, i always didn't like him after the reveal personally and hes def not the best villian especially with the fact hes the antagonist of the worst arc in the series, his fight vs kakashi is supremely overated, Sakura gets the hate she deserves if not more, somehow just somehow she has a mob of blind defenders which is insane but i wont talk about her too much as shes universally hated, if theres any akatski member I didn't say i probably dont like them anyway, as for naruto I mentioned above how he didn't have a dark path arc and i always hated that, his character in part 1 naruto was amazing and for him to not come to terms with the fact he lost sasuke in shippuden pissed me off, instead of naruto accepting sasuke is gone he still stuck up on sasuke and ruins his development, his 3 year timeskip he basically learned nothing, his character design is worse imo other than the sage mode outfit, again narutos character coulda been so much better, with the evil path idea, better training and better writing, hes trash in shippuden and the only highlight is the amazing 4tails and up imo, kuruma carries naruto is basically what im saying in shippuden , while in part 1 i liked narutos character and kuruma was a cool powerup, kakashis character now, how does his guy have 1000 jutsu but only have 4, how does he have a doujin addiction but still stays single, why does he neglect sasuke so much but help shikamaru with revenge, why does he let Naruto and sasuke live alone in part 1 even tho hes aware of it, why does he teach sakura nothing, he was a horrible sensei, hes got some positives to him and i love his character but as a sensei he cringes me alot, to me gaaras character design was much better in part 1 and his writing too, his character is decent in shippuden but i hate his design, but overall hes solid, again i always prefered sasuke to have different writing after tobi told the truth and really wished at thag point he talked with Gaara as gaara cameover the hatred but it is what it is, the kage summit confrontation was super cringe and was not as good as the chunin exams one, rock lee was Amazing in part 1 but they shoulda kept him crippled after the kimmimaru fight amd that explains his characters lack of screentime in shippuden, they also shoulda had neji and choji and kibas character die in the sound 4 fights, whats the point of letting them all live but ignoring them on Shippuden, and how does each sound 4 get no kill literally unrealistic, i always preffered if Tayuya and sakon escaped, again im not a fan of romance plotlines but if u were gonna introduce an orochimaru hideout red head love interest for sasukw why make karin when it coulda just been tayuya , especially with how shes the one to push sasuke along with sakon to join orochimaru, they also had better powers than jugo and karin, to me karins character either shoulda just stayed as a security guard or not existed, and jugo shoulda been a temporary character as for Suigestsu he's awesome and should have had more interesting writing, i always liked his powers and personality, orochimaru was peak in part 1 and for him to just get absorbed and then tell itachi his plan to absorb sasuke was super stupid, i love hebi sasuke and his snake powers, but why would orochimaru tell itachi his plans and die after his reveal that was so anticlimactic and annoyed me, also Shippuden although it sucks second half of pain arc and beyond, why not kill off kabuto amd make orochimaru the ultimate villian, kabuto was super cringe and orochimarus character in shippuden was underwhelming, i dont wanna keep ranting its a waste of time but i would give og naruto a 9.5 and Shippuden a 7 at best, Shippuden had some highs but alot of lows, only reason why its a 7 is because again it had some decent highs but also alot of interesting characters and designs but horrible execution, but of course the casuals will say its better than og naruto and worship Shippuden..

He has been transformed into a horrible father with him going off to train the bland main character that is apparently more important than his own fricking daughter. Sasuke was beaten into submission and basically brainwashed, he should not feel comfortable living in Konoha, the place that destroyed everything he loved. Sasuke was supposed to represent a change in the system because he witnessed the darker side. Sarada was reduced to a love interest with her personality now centered entirely surrounding Boruto to the detriment of her own character. Sasuke should have just faked his death using one of the Zetsu clones maybe and lived elsewhere far from the Five Great Nations and the pro-status quo Naruto, who didn't change anything, especially now that everything is crumbling because of the loss of his main source of power and aliens in this Android Saga wannabe sequel.

Neji, whose main theme is "succumbing to fate"(or "overcoming fate" if you want to be charitable, but i'm not dying on THAT hill), talks about destiny and how everyone has a predetermined fate. Naruto disagrees with this and explains that destiny shouldn't be used as a crutch to be a jerk, like Neji is when attempting to murder Hinata or talking down to Naruto himself.
So was Neji right? Everyone seems to think so, but why? Is it because Naruto is the child of prophecy? Well, it was stated that the child of prophecy would either bring peace to the world OR destroy it. I find this interesting because it takes the age-old formula of a character fulfilling one goal, one destiny, and flips it on its head by placing a 50% chance in Naruto actually becoming the villain. The simple fact that Naruto has both agency and a choice in the outcome already puts Neji's values on shaky ground(though Neji was right about his own destiny to die for the main branch unless you want to be charitable, but again, im not dying on that hill).
BUT! You still disagree with me. Why? Because Naruto is the reincarnation of Ashura? Well, that's funny because, as Ashura's reincarnation, Naruto is destined to meet and battle with Indra's reincarnation, Sasuke. Now Ashura did hope that a future incarnation of himself could resolve things peacefully, but his intention doesn't matter as his actions contributed to a cycle that the Sage of Six Paths feared would continue when Sasuke wanted to have his final battle with Naruto.
DESTINY ITSELF, the concept Neji spoke about, ordained that Naruto(as Ashura's reincarnation) would do battle with Sasuke(Indra's reincarnation), and continue the cycle of hatred. This path where the two could potentially kill each other might have very well been the catalyst that pushed Naruto to fulfill the evil side of his prophecy in destroying the world(among other things), made even more evident with the treatment he received growing up as a Jinchuriki(that made him hate the world back for a time), and the antagonist that reflected his character(challenging his views, and in some cases, trying to make Naruto fall as low as they did).

In my opinion the problem with Itachi isn’t that he’s over/underrated/a bad character, but he has legions of fans that wank him off and excuse all of his actions despite the fact that he’s legit a psychopath and on the same side as Danzo who everybody can evaluate with less bias as a villain.
Powerscaling I think alive Itachi is underrated. I would actually argue that Sasuke is the most important character of Naruto and by extension Itachi too though since Itachi’s like single handedly responsible for the trajectory of Sasuke in the story.

Itachi did not FULLY trust Danzo though but that does not change the fact that he literally was operating not just with Danzo but the leaf elders as a whole and followed their agendas. Did the truth about the Uchiha massacre just fly over your head?

Good take for the most part and if we were put in Itachi’s shoes we most likely wouldn’t make the same choice to destroy our family and clan. However as a fan of Itachi even after acknowledging that, we still love him as a character. As a big brother myself I also admire the willingness to protect his brother although his methods were very toxic and could back fire at all time. However in this situation it worked out and he’s looked at as a genius because it did…. Kinda lol 😂. Sasuke definitely didn’t play the role after his death like Itachi thought so that’s unfortunate. However Sasuke did grow to a power that allowed him to assist in saving the world and continue to help save the world along side Naruto. So ya Itachi in the story played a necessary antagonist with overall good intentions. His, drip, Justus, and moments is also is why he’s wildly loved. Number 2 favorite behind Naruto and I don’t agree Itachi was on the same side as Danzo but their common goals did align unfortunately. Danzo is still trash though and Itachi is loved. It is what it is.

The Konoha 12 was PRESENT for every major arc, just not UTILIZED as well as they could have been.
So lets add this single thing before I go into how I would rewrite them:
Kara having the 'Outers' is interesting, so lets do something similar with the Akatsuki and give them the 'Mercenaries'. They wear black cloaks with only a single red cloud on their back.
      ______________________________
      1. Kazekage Rescue arc- Team Guy was in the arc but didn't do much. Let's change that.
A portion of The Mercenaries attack the Hidden Sand Village to cover Sasori and Deidara's escape. Neji, Lee, and the rest of the Sand ninja confront them head-on. Temari takes over a commanding position over her fellow ninja to fight this threat, while Neji and Lee take on the two strongest foes in the Mercenaries there(they are both A-rank ninja).
Neji fights a user of the explosion release(I believe that release is canon), pitting his ultimate defense against this guy's ultimate offensive close combat syle. It is later revealed that this guy can cause a delayed explosion to happen to whatever he touched before, giving him the advantage. Things get especially bad when an entire street is primed to blow, but Neji counters with an air palm that dessimates the chakra in the area while simultaneously defeating his enemy.
Lee fights a guy that uses the first 5 breathes of the 7 heavenly breathes(non canon? But I like it, so lets bring it over). Lee could only use the first 3 gates pre timeskip (1st gate- Hidden Lotus, 2nd gate- Rejuvenation, 3rd gate- Red Skin), so he learned another 3 after the timeskip ended(I did this because only learning 1 gate in 2 years was awful). The enemy uses the heavenly breathes to strengthen ninjutsu instead of taijutsu(kinda wanna see what that would look like) to further emphasize that taijutsu can be equal to ninjutsu as long as one trains hard enough. Lee uses the 4th gate to activate the Reverse Lotus, 5th gate for the green chakra hue, and ends the battle using the Morning Peacock in his 6th gate.
The sand Village has trouble protecting its citizens until a recovering Kankoro shows up, controlling his puppets to play support at a safe distance. I'm gonna increase the range of his chakra strings to encompass the whole village.
The group attempting to rescue Gaara is intercepted by Itachi and Kisame(the real ones), sent by Pain to help Deidara and Sasori, as all Akatsuki members are weakened after siphoning Gaara's chakra. Kakashi and Guy stay back to stall these two.
Kakashi notices that when chakra goes into one of Itachi's eyes, the Tsukiyomi is activated. Kakashi resist this now that he is using the Mangekyo as well. Kakashi also notices that the Amaterasu is activated when chakra goes into Itachi's other eye, he counters this with Kamui. By the end of their fight, Itachi's chakra turns red as he prepares to use his Susano'o, but leaves when he hears that Sasori died.
Guy immediately goes 6th gate, showing us what Lee would look like if he maximized his potential. Kisame fights with Samehada fully awakened. The fight ends when Kisame begins to transform, and we see Guy call out the 7th Gate, but neither happens as news of Sasori's death reaches them.
Sakura and Chiyo vs Sasori is great. No changes needed.
Naruto fights Deidara with... Tenten?! Yes. Her throwing weapons would be a great counter to Deidara's bombs. Im also going to give her a great sword with seals at the bottom that allows it to fly(in principle, it works like Gaara's magnet release that allows him to fly in much the same way), because im drawing a comparsion between Tenten and famouse martial artist in chinese novels that travel on flying swords. Her greatsword also has a seal on the bottom of its pommel that shoots flames so that she can gain momentum. Naruto follows the two from below, hopping from one tree to another. When Tenten pins Deidara down from time to time, Naruto uses the 9 Tails chakra(he can control up to three tails) for a massive leap to deal massive damage via the Rasengan Series. This includes: The Rasengan(doesnt need clones), the Giant Rasengan(needs 1 clone for more power), the Mini Rasengan(acts as an armor piercer(needs 1 clone for control)), and the Rasenshuriken(needs 2 clones to make). Deidara escapes by substituting himself with a clay clone that takes the full force of the Rasenshuriken.
      2. Orochimaru Hideout arc- plays the same, but the fight against Sasuke is more inline with the storm 2 game since im pushing for a more competent Naruto and Sakura.
      3. Immortal Duo arc- Plays out the same without Naruto showing up to help. Instead, it cuts between the action, and Naruto training to upgrade his Rasenshuriken, finally perfecting the jutsu the 4th Hokage made to counter(what we will know later to be) the Kirin. Choji can use all of his abilities without the Akamichi clan pills(except his butterfly wing mode that doesnt make an appearance here). Ino can form a chakra construct of herself during the mind transfer jutsu that heals others through contact(taking a page from Shinobi Strikers). Ino's base abilities are support based, so im making her a purely long range support type character. Kakashi kills Kakazu in the end with Kamui.
      4. Im taking the liberty of renaming the "Search for Itachi" arc into the "Akatsuki Search and Destroy" arc. This will have Sasuke forming team Hebi and killing Deidara, while the new team 7 pairs up with team 8 to destroy a Mercenary hideout while fighting Obito.
The two teams fights a giant group of Mercenaries, revealing new abilities. Shino fights with two types of bugs, the first are his usual while the second attaches to his body, making a sturdy rhinoceros beetle exoskeleton with fly wings made out of chakra. Hinata can use the 64 palms, palm guard(making it canon) instead of rotation, and air palm. Kiba can fuse with Akamaru to make a giant two-headed wolf(Im making it so that he could only make a giant wolf with one head pre-timeskip). The fight is going well until Obito and Zetsu show up(fresh after Deidara's death).
His intangibility is a bitch, but team 8 was able to find a work around this. Shino would spread his bugs over a wide range, making Obito disappear into his Kamui dimension, Hinata would immediately find his location when he reappears using her Byakugan, and Kiba would hit him with a fang over fang by his two headed wolf form before Obito could gain his bearings. This single attack would cause him to retreat and end the mission.
The arc would end with Sasuke vs Itachi and Jiraiya vs Pain.
      5. The Pain arc would mostly play the same.
ALL of the Konoha 12 that are in the village needs to fight at least 1 of the path of pain. Naruto's new Rasenshuriken that can be thrown can be done in base with 2 clones, but by himself in Sage mode. But the biggest change would be Hinata. When she attempts to save Naruto, she unlocks the Tenseigan, BUT IM GOING TO BE REVAMPING THIS EYE COMPLETELY(I've always hated its abilities)!
As we know, the base sharingan has 3 abilities(time perception, copying abilities, and casting genjustu), while the Mangekyo adds another 3(right eye ability, left eye ability, Susano'o), and the Rinnegan switches out the Sharingan's six abilities for a new six(im not counting Izanami/Izanagi or the seventh path). The Byakugan has 3 abilities(360 vision, x-ray vision, and kaleidoscope vision), so the Tenseigan will add another 3: Night vision, Heat vision, and purple chakra(Hamura's chakra).
Hinata does a better job because of this, but still gets blasted. Pain remarks that the Rinnegan and Tenseigan are the Six Paths version of the Sharingan and Byakugan(the Sharingan is more suited for combat while the Byakugan is more suited for scouting with combat aspects), and the fights carries on as normal.
      6. Kage Summit- Mostly remains the same, but Sasuke takes out Danzo without throwing Karin aside(he still loses his mind though). I made this change so that Sakura, Kiba, Lee, and Sai could fight Karin, Jugo, Sasuke, and Suigetsu. The fight ends when Obito saves Sasuke and the team who are tired from their fights at the Summit when they are about to lose(Naruto and Kakashi can still pop up in the end for a team 7 reunion when Obito attacks Sakura who didnt notice him appear before the retreat, but that's only if you care for that sort of thing).
      7. War arc. Cut down on the flash backs and it fixes half of the issues. Allow Kaguya to appear AFTER team 7 takes down Madara and the other half is fixed(she appears when Madara loses control of the 10 Tailes after his defeat).
I personally, would take away Kakashi's DMS, and instead have all of Konoha 12 appear to fight Kaguya(still 12 because Sai is replacing Neji who died protecting Naruto, and not Hinata).
The rest of the cast gets a new ability(which we see them use during the war) to be on par with Sakura and not slow Naruto and Sasuke down.
Shino fuses his two bug types with the poison bugs Torune had(he took them) into a giant fly exoskeleton he wears called Beelzebub. Hinata fuses her purple chakra with the twin lion fist. Akamaru had a pup before the war arc started, and together with Kiba, the three transorm into a giant three headed dog named Cerberus(one spits flames, another air, and the final lightning to release giant pillars of fire).
Lee gains the 7th Gate. Tenten uses and keeps the Sage's divine tools. Sai can make an army of ink animals.
Shikamaru contorts his shadow into a giant pool of darkness that shoots shadow tendrils and spikes. Choji can use his giant butterfly wing state. And Ino can make 12 chakra avatars of herself during her mind transfer jutsu to heal allies, take over multiple enemy bodies, or a mixture of both.
Having the Konoha 12 take part in the final battle instead of just team 7 would do wonders in closing them off. The final fight, of course, would still be just between Naruto and Sasuke.
