1 grease your goose neck ball 2 get your trailer wiring off your tailgate. DOT friction point. 3 never put your breakaway trailer cable on the same location as your safety chains. 4 STAY out od North Carolina. They don't like non CDL hotshots. They say any combination over 10,001 requires a CDL. 5 make sure your tag registration is set up to 26K. If not big over weight DOT fine. 6 carry 2 spares for trailer, wheel bearing sets, 1 leaf spring. 1 oil/grease hub cap. 6 make this hotshot thing temporary. These trucks are not meant to last over the road constantly hauling. 7 good luck, your gonna need it fella..
If you're planning on doing this I would suggest at lease removing tour rear seat and build a bed back there. There are videos showing how to do it. If its raised off the floor you will have storage under your bed.
Gotcha. keep in mind you need good rest when you're on the road. There have been some folks cut a piece of plywood to set on the seat but wider with a couple of legs to support it then a piece of memory foam. You wouldn't have to attach it and it could be removed easily when you're home.
Also dont forget when getting loaded, any platform the freight is on isnt included in the weight of the freight. 12 years in trucking and about to start running hotshot myself on the next couple of weeks myself.
I’m dropping another video this week coming up on tips and important things people need to know before getting in. Hopefully that video will bring more clarity
Great video. Just a tip, I have never heard anyone call the Department of Transportation..."Dot" , like a woman's name. It is always pronounced as three separate letters. D O T Then again you may be setting a new trend. Keep up the good work.
Aye homie, just my understanding. Your truck gvwr is 10,000 and trailer is rated for 14,000=24,000-16,060=7,940lbs. You're trailer gvwr should be rated for 16,000lbs. That you give you 2000lbs more to put on the deck. I hope this gives you a better understanding. Good luck
1st my young brother its a cat scale not a real weight stationm, when I started many moons ago they cost 5,50 or 7,50 and a dollar for rerweighting the truck.i got 209 years out here, get your CDL license to save you some trouble
Interesting I was driving a semi one time coming out of Houston. I went thru the scale and they made me pull over and adjust my fifth wheel to distribute the weight so my drive axles wouldn’t be over weight. I no your non Cdl but I thought you also have to be under the max axle weight as well.
Confused beyond belief. All these guys running non CDL and having trailer’s over 10k gvwr. Everything I researched saying you must have a CDL for over10k even if your under 26k overall. What am I missing?

👌🏾luck is unnecessary
Nice setup 👌🏾
You can’t find good workers like those kids in these days 😂
😂😂
Love the breakdown of everything. I have a better understanding now
No problem

Yeah sounds like a good idea but I still use my rear seats for my kids.

Look at that teamwork ❤
Finally another hotshot channel. All the others stop posting for some reason. Let’s go! I really enjoy the day to day life of hotshot channels.
Thank you. Dropping another video soon
Good to find another @Mr.AlexKogan and @ChantsDailyHustle post most weeks. Another is blue sky hotshot just not sure of his RUclips handle ATM.
Definitely made that easy to understand. Appreciate it
Were are you from I'm non CDL I'm Fayetteville NC
Nice setup sir.
Thank you
I'm going to start calling you,Mr aftermarket man, good video
😂😂

Congratulation to you on starting your hotshot journey
Great break down man I’ve been debating so much on getting into the business

Thank you……Lol, not sure how else to say DOT then saying DOT. I guessing I need to pause after every letter
FYI your breakaway system has to be connected to a different point than your chains, that is a violation
Thank you! I corrected later on in the video
It is connected to the tie down in the bed not the chain

Make sense! Thank you for the clarity
Please check those aftermarket parts weight. You don't want to exceed your gvwr on the truck.
Yeah that’s why I went and got weighed to make sure I don’t go over weight
1st my young brother its a cat scale not a real weight stationm, when I started many moons ago they cost 5,50 or 7,50 and a dollar for rerweighting the truck.i got 209 years out here, get your CDL license to save you some trouble
I pray that I stay healthy and strong to live as long as you
Nice. Hey broo with how many miles did you bought your 2015 truck?
I bought with 170k
Do you have air bags in the rear or spri gs
I do have air bags in the truck but the trailer is not air ride
The payloads capacity 9,940,lbs too small. There any possibility for you to get 12,500 lbs payload capacity
I believe I can add 2,000 lbs on my trailer axles to carry more weight
😂😂😂😂
But trucks gvwr is 10000 and you already at 5060 + 5180=10240 how that work
The gvwr is not the weight of the truck
You also have to go by the GVAR also right?
No sir, only the GVWR
Interesting I was driving a semi one time coming out of Houston. I went thru the scale and they made me pull over and adjust my fifth wheel to distribute the weight so my drive axles wouldn’t be over weight. I no your non Cdl but I thought you also have to be under the max axle weight as well.
@@roshondatorrancehoye4785 yeah I haven’t had any problems so far as far GVAR. I try to carry less weight as possible
Are you limited to what type of loads
Nope, just have to make sure on the dimensions and weight of the loads.
@@corntv1107 gotcha. Planning on getting your CDL? Hopefully you can do a video breaking down getting loads, dispatcher or load boards.
@@unscripted_journey I do plan on getting my cdl. I will definitely do a video of dispatching and finding loads
@@corntv1107 thanks. Keep it up. I’m on starting process of my own. Also a video on starting your hotshot business would be great
@@unscripted_journey Definitely will! I got you. I will give a in depth overview of how to start and things to look out for
Confused beyond belief. All these guys running non CDL and having trailer’s over 10k gvwr. Everything I researched saying you must have a CDL for over10k even if your under 26k overall. What am I missing?
It’s truck and trailer GVWR over 26,000 lbs requires CDL. If you are under 26,000 lbds GVWR than you are not required CDL
You have to look carefully at the fmcsa wording, you need a cdl when you are over 26,000lbs AND carrying a trailer over 10k lbs
