How can you tell how fast you need to be going for these jumps? the fear kinda gets to me on these jumps and I always end up slowing down too much. But I have no idea how much speed is too much that I fly too far and tumble to my death
Keep in mind while watching this that a true beginner (not a Swiss guy who grew up skiing and is no stranger to jumping his snowboard) will feel very weird in the air even on the smallest jumps. Your body has a natural tendency to flail for balance which usually ends in a wipeout.

Love that you use beginners to train. Makes the teaching very relatable. Also the warmup was helpful too for someone my age (45). Subscriber from Canada.
As a 62 year old who grew up riding skateboards, then dirt bikes, and skiing, I can appreciate the flow and mechanics of doing these tricks. I never was great at doing tricks on skis, although I was good at basic jumping. We didn’t have terrain parks to learn on, so we learned on what ever random jump presented itself. My best trick was a simple helicopter, although I could do a fairly decent back scratcher. (You young folks are probably going: WTF?) I haven’t skied in thirty years but I’m gonna be going this winter. I’m looking forward to the terrain park so I can dial in some 360s.
After watching allot of tutorials , ive started jumping , and in one month i have achieved , 180 , safety grab, shifty , almost 360 , box slide , shift on box slide (sometimes a double) , and almost a butter! Thanks allot , i will be learning mute grab now. Btw im only 16 :D.
Thank you so much for the video, great as alway. I wish I could ski now but it’s is summer for me so I’m gonna have to come back to your videos at the start of my winter so i can learn heaps in one go
Thank you for the video, I’ve been skiing for 5 seasons now and I’m still not good at jumps so this video will hopefully make me better so when I ski with friends I can show off
I am currently in Laxx and i want to learn som tricks. But after I saw how bad it looks when I jump i started to work just on a good pop. This video helped me a lot. Tanks. (sorry for my bad englisch)
this beats the hell out of snowboard pro camp, awesome videos man. I showed my GF the one geared toward total beginners, it helped calm her nerves the night before her first day on the slopes with me.
Amazing, I am following all your videos to improve my jumps / freestyle skiing and feel like i've progressed so much already !!! Keep up the good work !!!
now i just wanna go ski more... i ski every year and i watch these videos because if i cant ski i can watch it on yt and it only makes me want to ski more
Great video, with a good break-down of the progression. As a more-than-decent-skier-who's-always-been-afraid-of-lifting-off I will try some of it, if only timing the pop properly. thank you so much :)
My natural instinct would be to crouch further to get a good pop. I would like to hear your reasoning to avoid this so we're not just following unsubstantiated directions, but actually learning the philosophy behind it. Great videos though! Thank you for taking the time to teach.
I would like to know the reasoning behind this also. If you watch pros like Henrik and Woodsy they are crouched very low, their hands often well below their knees.
I apologize. I replayed and caught your reasoning this time and that you stated "It could make you a little back-seated". Makes sense, and I believe that happens to me. Thanks for the tip.
This is exactly where I'm at right now so this video was perfect. Realizing I'm mostly only bringing one foot up for my grabs. Something to work on next time! 👍
Hey this is perfect. I just started skiing a month ago, but thankfully I got a season pass so I've gone about 10 times. I've gotten to almost 80km/h (77.6) and feel like I have really good dexterity skiing now, so I think I am going to try hitting the harder stuff, perfect timing! I just tried my first 2 jumps on Friday and actually made my first one ever, it was off of a proper jump too. 2nd jump I probably flew 6 meters and could have landed it, but my arms were too far back. Thanks for all the videos. :D They have helped me progress a lot faster than I would have otherwise.
Hi Stompit! Great video, I've seen you many times on videos but this was the best one. I was in the "Fridge" at Hemel Hempstead today and they have a bit of a "roller" in there. When ever I ski it though I always seem to absorb it rather than get air. But now I know what to do, thanks to you, and your concise and clear video. Now where are my boots?
Kinda learning myself through trial and error, had a pretty big error last week hahahah hit a couple jumps and landed them no problem, decided to up my speed and get a little more pop, with the extra hangtime my skiis pointed towards the ground and they caught and I face planted pretty hard. Luckily had my helmet on

Very nice all the best
Stomp It Tutorials Dude I used lots of your ski hacks from a different video. They really work, even in Canada! Thanks dude!

Any tips on keeping balance and control in the air?
Same, would love some tips on how to prevent this.
Yeah I’ve been skiing for a couple years and wanna start doing my fun things. I need tips because I’ve done them but I never look cool lol
Yeah i flail in the air this morning on the park. Massive wipeout
Guys watch the actual video. Said keep legs straight to not be tail heavy, and arms forward for balance. smh
9:07 that carved 180 was so clean!
Buler Edits bro ur right
Dude in the background went so hard for so little recognition 😂
yeah I saw it too. Took all my attention
It was poetic. Author-unknown.
More of this guy? Would be sweet to follow his progression
I will tell him to keep snowboarding so we got something to work on for next season :P

That isnt Even hard to do. You just have to do a normal jump and than you spin a little bit
Insanely talented student, huge respect for this mad lad!
Yes, he was almost too talented. I hoped to show some struggles but I hope it was inspiring anyway to see what you can do if your sporty and unafraid.
4:22 wth is the guy on the skilift doing
Thats good workout i do that sometimes to warm up :D
Looks like he's holding a handle tow for little kids.
Aéro position to go faster duhh
It's a tow. It's that low.
If you don't know...
The "beginner" that is Swiss and grew up skiing... Riiiight
Well, without knowing how to ski (well) you shouldn't learn jumping on skies lol.

Beginner in park is essentially what he was implying

Yeah Jen’s has a great RUclips persona and has a very soothing, teacher-like voice. Definitely one of the best channels out there.

The moustache is looking good 👌
Thanks for noticing, Im working hard on maintaining it ;)

Yeah, and these European guys are thinking about Bali when it’s cold there. Just the way the mind is.
Head East over to the Alps! Or NZ, I live in Queensland but still ski lol.
