This was written by North Point Inside Out band. The drummer in this video, from that band, is the main inspiration behind this song. Walking through a graveyard he saw on a tombstone "Death was arrested"

Death was arrested and new life began for me at Westville Correctional Facility in Indiana. I was walking in death before incarceration but in due time Jesus revealed new life to me while my body was locked up. Thank You Lord Jesus for new life which for me was 20 plus years ago
