  • Since 2016, Crystal Mason's voter fraud case has exemplified politicized "election integrity" enforcement meant to intimidate voters of color. After years of fighting a charge that was based on a misunderstanding but threatened to send her to prison for years, Mason finally got an acquittal on appeal. Crystal Mason and her attorney Kim T. Cole join Alex Wagner to discuss Mason's ordeal.

Why hasn't Mark Meadows been charged? He registered to vote in NC using a trailer that he NEVER lived in while living in Virginia...now that is something that leaves no doubt whatsoever on intention or "knowledge" of what he was doing.
There are multiple cases of Republicans voting more than once utilizing dead relatives ballots etc., that just seem to slide by without prosecution. We definitely have a 2 tiered justice system skewed towards favoring the rich and well connected.
This is beyond horrendous. Even if she had knowingly done it (which is CLEARLY not the case) 5 years in PRISON??? Yet others who have totally undermined the integrity of our elections and participated in the Jan 6th insurrection are still able to hold and run for political positions??? Those who have pled guilty or been found guilty of their participation in the disruption of the certification of the election have been given probation, fines, or very minimal jail time.
I hope she sues the💩 out of Texas. Another case of Republicans abusing their power to intimidate voters. The workers at the polls did the correct thing issuing a PROVISIONAL ballot that was NOT counted after the determination was made that she was ineligible to vote. That's how the system is supposed to work. She committed no crime, in fact the system worked as it should have. This further undermines peoples confidence in the system.
Good luck to her, I hope she can move past this and rebuild her life.
