Normally the internet is very cruel when it comes to downfalls, and the trolls are absolutely insufferable too. But Tony built up such a loyal fan-base over the years with his performances and win streak that even when he had one of the worst (and saddest) falls from grace in MMA history, they never abandoned him. Normally when a legend goes out like that, they tend to fade into obscurity. Not Tony though.

It’s a job that I happen to like to watch for free. That’s all. With that being said I liked him when he was in his prime. But he didn’t evolve and let’s face it you can’t go toe to toe like him for that many years taking all those dome shots and expect to be as good as he once was. He didn’t evolve and was reckless plus fought some of the best. Now he’s done. That’s what happens when you lose. No need to hate on the guy or kick him when he’s down. All fighters have an expiration date just as anyone else does doing any other job physical eventually it gives. Too many shots to the head can cause a fighter to stay one dimensional often reverting to older stuff and unable to learn new. On top of that coordination reaction time and balance all go over time. Tbi sucks. Look at bros ears and he stands and bangs. Think about that for a min. Anyone with common sense can see he’s done but you got to respect the fact he lost 8 times in a row before saying screw it. That takes heart he’s a tough mf and it’s hard not to respect that.

I can see why Tony didn't want to "let go" and walk away. He put in a 12 win streak and never got to fight for real gold due to politics and dirty business. Conor, Khabib, RDA, even Eddie. All four of these guys were champs and Tony beat one of those guys. Not once was he given a shot. Yes, I'm aware of the injuries and pullouts, but even before the cord, even before the third attempt to book the Khabib fight, Tony should have fought for a title. Anderson Silva fought for a title back then after one fight. Chandler fought for a title after one fight.
Once you understand what I said above, you can sort of understand why his interviews after the Justin fight felt so...depressing. He talked about suing the UFC, but he didn't. You can hear the depression in his voice too.
I hope the UFC is happy. Years bleeding for the company and the most they could do for him is two interim shots. That's crazy.

When these fighters who gave everything for something they love go away and you know he will never be the same. Thats when i wonder about this sport.
I love it but is it worth destroying someone's family for?

Tony the type of guy to retire when he's on top of the bottom
Seriously though, the man was a LEGEND and it was very sad to see the decline of his performances lately.

Looking back compared any fight after it or even the 2 before it the chandler fight tony looked great. Phenomenal shape & looked locked in & had a real team behind him. Was winning that fight then decided to start round 2 going backward when he was winning going forwards then ate a kick. So sad. After that he hasnt reacted to shots well. Especially noticeable in the diaz fight he constantly turns away. So uncharacteristic of tony. That KO killed his willingness to walk forward & take shots. He already was out of his prime by then but that KO was then end of tony..😭
