    Isabel Bayrakdarian (official bio)
Isabel Bayrakdarian burst onto the international opera scene after winning first prize in the 2000 Operalia competition founded by Plácido Domingo. Since then she has performed in many of the world's major opera houses and concert halls. She is admired as much for her stunning stage presence as for her exceptional musicality, and she has followed a unique career path completely her own.
In the 2008-2009 season Ms. Bayrakdarian tours with the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra conducted by Anne Manson performing the works of Armenian composer Gomidas Vartabed. The Remembrance Concert Tour , dedicated to victims of all genocide, will be performed with San Francisco Performances, the Philharmonic Society of Orange County, the Vancouver Symphony, at Roy Thomson Hall, with the Boston Celebrity Series, and in a return to Carnegie Halls Zankel Hall. Operatic engagements include debuts at the Teatro del Liceu in the title role of Lincoronazione di Poppea and with Opéra Français de New York performing the title role of Kurt Weills Marie Galante, as well as a return to the Metropolitan Opera as Zerlina in Don Giovanni. Ms. Bayrakdarian also appears in recital with her husband, pianist Serouj Kradjian, in Duluth, Minnesota, Charlottesville, Virginia, and Calgary, Alberta.
Highlights of Ms. Bayrakdarians recent seasons have included performances as Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) at the Metropolitan Opera, Zerlina at the Salzburg Festivals celebration of Mozarts birthday, debuting the role of Mélisande in Pélleas et Mélisande at the Canadian Opera Company, singing title role in The Cunning Little Vixen at the Saito Kinen Festival under the baton of Seiji Ozawa, Le nozze di Figaro at Covent Garden and the Houston Grand Opera and her role debut as Blanche in Robert Carsens production of Poulencs Dialogues of the Carmelites at the Lyric Opera of Chicago. She also participated in the world-premiere of Jake Heggie and Gene Sheers one-act opera To Hell and Back with Broadway legend Patti LuPone and San Franciscos Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra.
Isabel Bayrakdarian sings on the Grammy® award-winning soundtrack of the blockbuster film The Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers, and her voice can also be heard in the multiple award-winning Canadian film Ararat. Ms. Bayrakdarian has been honored with four Juno awards, Canadas highest recording prize, most recently for her CD Mozart arie & duetti with fellow Canadians Russell Braun and Michael Schade. She is the subject of a CBC-TV film entitled A Long Journey Home that documents her first trip to Armenia; on another trip there recently she recorded a disc of songs by the countrys national composer, Gomidas Vartabed (1869-1935), with her husband and the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra which is available on the Nonesuch label. Expanding her vast discography, Ms. Bayrkdarian was a guest soloist with the Canadian band Delerium on their 2007 Grammy® nominated dance remix Angelicus.
Ms. Bayrakdarian has received many grants and other awards in addition to the First Prize in the Operalia: four Juno awards, the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal, the 2005 Virginia Parker Prize from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Leonie Rysanek Award from the George London Foundation, and a Metropolitan Opera National Council Award in 1997.
Born in Lebanon of proud Armenian heritage and now a citizen of Canada, Ms. Bayrakdarian moved with her family to Toronto as a teenager. Her earliest singing experience was at church, which remains along with her family the central focus of her life. She holds an honors degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Toronto.

My grandfather was in the British army in the 1920s which was sent to prevent war between Turkey and Greece. He was shocked to discover the brutality the Armenians suffered at the hands of the Turks. When I was a boy he told me of a photo he saw of a Turkish soldier poudly posing with a small table either side of him, on each of which was the severed head of an Armenian. Unlike Germany, Turkey was never held to account for that genocide. This Heavenly singing shows that no amount of cruelty can extinguish beauty as Lord Jesus Christ showed when he suffered. God bless Armenia and Armenians everywhere. ❤

You forget, Arutyun Gasparyan, that we all put Jesus Christ on the cross. "For of a truth against Thy holy child Jesus, whom Thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, for to do whatsoever Thy hand and Thy counsel determined before to be done" (Acts 4:28).

    • @jefftheworld

Have you even read the bible? The romans put Jesus on the cross, Jesus was reforming Judaism and is considered by many as a Jewish reformist preacher. His teachings have certainly been shared as those of the prophet of Judaic teachings.
This can be debated to some degree, but Jesus certainly wasn't Christian, since he was not a follower of Christ. In fact, were no Christians until *after* the death of Jesus as, until then, he had yet to die to their sins.

    • @pastoransonmaramon
      @pastoransonmaramon 6 лет назад +5

Hi, Arutyun, They did not put our Lord on the Cross. But, He, himself, accepted it as eternally righteous judgement of the Father over the sin of mankind. Jesus, was not killed, but, he accepted the DEATH as a punishment for sin of Adam and Eve, in-order
to justify myself and yourself. Love you dear. God bless you.

I am from Turkey and I am Turk. I am muslim. Yes in the past everyone has been through bad things and behaviors. But at the end I believe that we are all brothers and sister no matter what if we are Greek Armenian or Turk. I love all my brothers and sisters. Love should bring us together. And I am listening to this beautiful Hymn for a long time while I am praying. Isabel’s beautiful voice makes this masterpiece complete. I am praying for everyone and wishing you the life you dream of. With love and respect. 🙏🏽🕯♥️

Thank you, I am Armenian and I have never hated Turks. Have I been angry before? Yes, but never hated. Hating is against the teachings of Jesus so we as Armenians have never hated. All we want is our wounds to heal together with Turks. Because Turks helped a lot of Armenians escape, we have always been brothers. What the leaders did was not what the Turkish people wanted. Even now with the war that erdogan and aliyev did.. i know a lot of Turkish ppl who were against it. Although i have seen many who were happy that Armenians were being murdered, not all of them represent Turks. I pray in the future we again, as brothers can live together. If we look at history, the love has been more years than the "hate" love overcomes hate. I think we as Armenians AND Turks together should starts the healing process. We dont want land, we dont want money, we just want to heal and move foreward. Hope that day will come 💚

@@myname1022 this message made me and my family cry. Thank you so much, to be honest I was afraid to write the things that I have said especially after the war between Azerbaïdjan and Armenia.. Only the supporters of Erdogan have supported the war and it was just terrible. But the people who were against the war are much more than the supporters. Unfortunately our political situation is a mess and every single person in Turkey is suffering and hating it. This political situation is preventing us to heal the wounds and the resentment between us. The anger that Armenians have against us can be right but brothers and sisters can not hate each other.. Hope that day will come and we can live happily in peace together as brothers and sisters as we used to. Sending much love and respect to you and your family. 🙏🏽🌺 🇦🇲🇹🇷

As an Armenian, an Armenian whose heart lies with his people, who has tried to commit his whole life to his people, I feel that we as Armenians has sort of banked our entire existence and the purpose of our existence on Our Lord Jesus Christ. Do I regret this? Certainly Not! Every single ounce, every sound, every structure and every purpose is derived for the genuine love that we, the children of Hayk, have for Our Lord. We have suffered, We will continue to, I do not doubt it but I also do not fear it. I do not fear it because I know, I know that somewhere deep down below that dark chasm that is my flawed humanity, lies a perfect and precious gem shining eternally bright for unto eternity and it burns solely for you My Lord Christ. Forgive us, Love us, teach us and give us purpose, that in this world of so many false hopes we may ALL know that the ONLY path lies within YOU.

Armenia has been where they are for thousands of years. Armenia and her neighbors, such as Greeks, Romans, Caucasians and Iranians all have the long history and sophisticated civilizations - except, unfortunately, Turks.
No one can deny that Turks are considered to be "outsider" in this area. The fact is Turks have been in Canstantinople (called "Istanbul" by Turks in 1930) less than 550 years.
Turks is the primitive Turko-Mongolian tribe originated from today's south Siberia and Mongolia.

Istanbul will be returned to Constantinople, Hagia Sophia will also be returned to the Orthodoxy by the Muslims with an apology soon after the battles for Armageddon begin. There is bad history between the Ottomon Turks, much of which was fed by the forces of the Anti Christ. Soon things will improve. Soon Jesus Christ will return.

    • @tm1rt2vv8i

My reply is 7 years late, but... you are utterly correct. Modern day Turkish people shouldn’t even be referred to as Turkish, as, if they were 100% genetically Turkish, they would look Asian (as you have already express; they originated from Siberia and Mongolia). It is a shame that the native people of modern day Turkey (Assyrians, Armenians, Greeks, Kurds) have been driven out. Sadly, what is left of the past civilisations are lovely Churches that have been abandoned to turn into ruins, and a past history full of pain and sadness that will never be forgotten.

"Sourp, Sourp" is a sacred Armenian hymn dating back to the 5th century, sung during the Divine Liturgy. Rooted in Isaiah 6:3 and Revelation 4:8, it symbolizes heavenly praise. Its melody has evolved, but its spiritual significance remains central to Armenian worship worldwide.

    Hallo, AbBeeii,
