She must not have as refined a palate as other people. I only say this because she mentioned knowing it was hers because of the other person's reaction.
I noticed that, too! She thought she just guessed it bc of that other girl's reaction, but she didn't realize she guessed bc it spoke of who her Mom is as a person. She saw her Mom in the food through someone's experience. That's honestly so powerful!
@Joe Landry Seems to me you've just had really bad kimchi. Also, kimchi is extremely healthy for you and has tons of health benefits. I'd take kimchi any day over stuff like broccoli and bittermelon.
Enzo Sison I couldn’t believe it either when we all got it right! But it makes sense though! We grew up with our moms cooking. So amazing we got it right :)

Awww this is cute 😊 Nothing can replace mom's cooking. Even if there is 'better', you still can't help but love the distinct flavour and love your mom's food has.
I don't think it's necessarily that at all. Asian parents expect certain things out of their children - getting good grades, finding a good spouse, graduating from an Ivy League university, etc. It just seems to me that she decided to do what she wanted instead of doing what her mom (parents) wanted, which most likely has disappointed her mom many times.
@@muhammadwalid8440 Maybe you've just had bad kimchi (maybe just overly fermented ones). I prefer the fresher ones which don't really have as bad an odor than super fermented kimchi. Durian is just a whole nother level of smells.
you are so right! different families have their own recipes .... and if it doesn't taste like your mom cooked, doesn't mean its bad. i don't have my mom since i were 25 and i really miss her cooking.
Aww the fact they all could tell the difference between their moms food is so interesting and they probably have a good connection with their parents🥰😊
My parents' kimchi taste changes every year, depending on the crop quality of the year, the availability of certain ingredients that year, the brand of pepper flakes used... there's no way I'd be able to tell it apart from other kimchi.

dunno why this suddenly came up on my feed, but just in case anyone is curious, the kimchi taste differs quite a lot depending on the region in Korea. Some parts use different ingredients such as oysters, or pears, etc. The strength of the seasoning is different as well. my mom's family comes from the southernmost part of korea, and my dad's family came down from the most northernparts of the korean peninsula during the war, so my 2 grandmother's kimchis tasted drastically different.
@@HottChoc619 think of it as spicy pickle with extra healthy stuff. It's spicy, sour, savory and has hint of sweetness. I like it when it's little fermented.
