- Learn How to tie a cowboy's lasso or lariat loop in this easy to follow tutorial. A strong enough knot to take down a cow. The lasso, often used in a rodeo is made by using a honda knot, which utilizes two overhand knots.

Lots of loop knots to choose from here: ruclips.net/p/PLc7bqVSkVAp5I06yqemSNMdFu5Q70X5R6
Awesome now ima use it on my self 😆
so essentially you could tie a bowline then put the excess rope through to achieve the same effect, it's effectively the same as a snare
Thats what I was thinking lol
@@stevensaunders36 this guy has never cowboyed a day in his life, we dont tie a keeper knot on the end after the over hand knot. just stick it though the right side of the over hand and pull tight
@@tugjones5187 but why wouldn't you want to put a stopper knot
@@schmecklin377 tie the same knot he did, but I slip it over a truck ball and tie off to a post amd pull it tight, the knot itself pulls tight enough that the tail wont pull out, most guys melt the rope a little to tidy it up
To the original poster, I also thought a simple bowline would work at first, but then I took a closer inspection. The loop part here naturally sits at a 90 degree angle to the standing end. That lets the lasso open up to a circle, instead of a collapsed teardrop shape.
I need to practice this before I venture out in the woods...
LENNY!!
Lol
*LENNAY!*
Ynnel?
*YENNEL*
Haha found ya lenny
that's for a left hander, for a right hander tie the first over handed knot with the first bite going under not over the standing end.
this is important due to the way the loop presents when it is thrown. ie. whether it opens properly or not.
This is a legit question but how does that change anything ?
@@elgrandefleau7359bro that’s that the fuck I’m wondering 🤣
It’s useful for my ceiling and me😋
Just want you to know you created a monster. Everyone is getting lassoed 😈

Quarantine squad where you at?
Lasso:
This is a word that was used in the early days of cattle ranching,
but fell out of favor fairly early on. Unlike many cowboy words that
originated from Spanish descent, this one came from the Portuguese word,
“laco,” meaning “to snare.” With the exception of a few California
stockmen who continued to use it, the word “lasso” was replaced with
“rope” within a few short years of its introduction around the late
1800s to early 1900s. This fact makes the popularity of “lasso” among
city slickers, especially journalists, in this day and age even more
baffling. Bottom line, a rope is a rope.
+Robert Metheney I call it a lariat.
To rope a steer you use a lariat. Tie the SOB down with a rope.
dont try to understand 'em just rope, throw, and brand 'em
by lasso or by lariat
I think it’ was a word that English speakers couldn’t pronounce .. they would hear Spanish Vaqueros say “ La Soga “ and they would say “ lasso “ or “ La Riata “ and they would call it lariat.. it’s like baseball home run .. you will hear people say honron.. but La Soga means the rope in Spanish
That’s an awesome nugget of history! I didn’t know that lasso referred to the rope it’s self. I thought lasso meant specifically the loop you make with it.
Thank you.this helped 🐠
Thanks. Good display of the knot.
Thanks bro you are a life saver

I want you to know you are our savior, we lassoed a full bottle of jack that accidently fell in the lake out of an ice fishing hole, with a camera because of this video
Now please explain how can i tie this up to my fan
thanks dude!!
Испанское лассо вяжется в *другой* последовательности:
а) стопор, с тугой обтяжкой его на конце;
б) очко - в ту же(!) сторону;
в) завязка очка продавливается сквозь него надавливанием больших пальцев на стопор:
только в этом случае очко становится перпендикулярно скользящей в нем верёвке.
The Spanish lasso is tied in a *different* sequence:
a) the stopper, with a tight fit at the end;
b) the point - in the same direction;
с) the tie of the point is pushed through it by pressing the thumbs on the stopper:
only in this case the point becomes perpendicular to the rope sliding in it.
I’ve been trying for an hour and it didn’t work now my hand hurt
You lost me at centimeters Partner 🤠
Every time I try to swing the big rope hole just goes really small
The Honda Knot is an adjustable (friction) loop. It's not shown in the video but you can pull on the knot right in the end, to tighten the small loop as tight as you need to and it will grip the large loop so it won't collapse.
Vic Sosa c sub
tell me about toyota knot
You hold the loop also

Wouldn't it be better to use better knots instead of overhands? Like bowline and double overhand or figure 8 as stopper
Possibly. There are different knots for different purposes, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. The advantage of the overhand is that it reduces bulk compared to other stoppers. Whilst superb under constant tension, the bowline tends to come undone under dynamic conditions etc.
+rinrts - Two overhand knots - done correctly - makes the 'lovers knot' - the strongest of them all .
BRAIDERMAN Isn't the lover's knot supposed to be a bend knot? why would you use it here? You don't need to tie two ropes together.
+rinrts - The 'Lover's knot' that I am familiar with can be used to tie the loop, and it will not come undone. but this vid shows that there are a range of 'lovers knots' not well published in the literature.
i see
Yay now I can drag someone around from the back of my horse
this aint no noose but it will do the job
Why not use a running bowline? It's much stronger
I can finally meet my dead uncle for the first time
Did I use a lasso to catch a horse? (my horse doesn't like me)
So the white cowboys use a Dutch or Yosemite bowline, and the Mexican cowboys use the elegant Honda knot.
Is your refrigerator running? Not anymore
But wouldn’t that end be loose? I didn’t try it make it but I’m just wondering
This worked so well ! Thx
How do you toss a lasso?
Thanks bro
Great! Now I just gotta figure out how to attach this to the ceiling
Yea ikr🥲😔

Thx now i too can catch myself a child
@White Soul catch any yet?
What kind of rope is that
Basically tie the hangmans noose and put the rope in loop
That's no hangman's noose. This is a Hangman's noose; ruclips.net/video/ac-LiXq4QeE/видео.html
how are you supposed to throw it without loosening
i saw a video . a man stranded in the middle of gushing water on top of a waterfall, people gave him a rope. . when the man tried to tie himself he slipped , fall and died... knots like this would be very usefull someday.
Time to tie my refrigerator
thx😉
Should of done this with my snapped rope rather than buying a new one
