  • When people study the prophecies about the end times, it can feel confusing. But the best way to approach the Second Coming of Christ is by studying the First coming of Christ. So, what can we learn? And how does it change the way we prepare for His second coming? (Prov. 25:2; Heb 11:6; Mt. 24:36; Acts 1:6-8; Mt. 27

Anchor your life on the Word! Dont anchor it on the news. Pastor Peter is so spot on with this. I killed my TV years ago and I have been seeking nothing but the Lord. Listening to sermons, praying, meditation on His Word.... etc etc. He has blessed me SO MUCH in recent years. Everything is to be found in Him!!

For so many years, I shunned the Lord and Bible. I never had anything good to say about any of it. I felt this way because of so much trauma I had gone through. I felt if there was a God, he wouldn't let this happen. There just is, and there isn't. I felt like churchgoers are trying to cover something up or make up for things they've done. Since then, I've been inlighted in so many ways. I've been studying the Bible for a few years now. I still don't go to church on Sundays. If I could go to Peter Haas church, I would most definitely go.

I find myself landing somewhere in the partial preterism camp.

I always had questions about the translation of “fearing God” because if we are scared into “following Him” instead of truly loving him, how can we make it to heaven? True love is not bred by fear, it’s bred by more love!

I think that's rather nieve that it isn't fear that causes us to question the life after. It is fear that makes us question where are we going. The things that cause us to seek God are all the thing we suffer and are fearing. Jesus spoke more about hell and the coming life than anything else. That fear causes us to question and the gift of eternal life does the rest. This is silly.

Thx for your thoughts Carol. If it encourages you, I'm not saying that "fear doesn't cause us to question" rather, it's not the preferred motivator of God, as "perfect love casts out fear." And thus, when Christians attempt to use fear, we end up misrepresenting God (who IS love, and in whom there is no fear). "Grace teaches us to say 'no' to ungodliness in this present age" (Titus 2), not fear. Think of it like this... if I held a gun to someone, I can motivate them to do a great number of things... but, would I represent God well? Probably not. SURELY, you're not suggesting that we manipulate people with motivators that fall short of the list of "Wisdom from heaven" (James 3:17). Right?
