Lives up to its name as a SYF set piece. Testing all types of articulation, dynamics and phrasing. Gotta be tough for secondary school students but will be rewarding at the end.
Got one personal suggestion: I'm thinking the SAF Band can create an album of all the SYF Set Pieces over the years and create CD/Stream for everyone to enjoy and listen Best include personal stories from players (and the composers) behind the pieces as well
Not necessarily. As seen from the 2023 SYF, the Set Piece for secondary schools was "Tanah Di Bawah Angin" and the Set Piece for Junior Colleges / Institutions was "Kinderszenen".
@@NILx3 Apparently it is the case! my conductor (who's also in a JC band or is the conductor in a JC band) is actually learning this piece with them! (it was painful apparently)
Kinda disappointed. I thought snare was going to be as loud or even louder as the snare in the recording everyone listened to when this video wasn’t posted yet.

Wow, what a coincidence! 😄 All the very best!!
This is the same SYF set piece for secondary schools from many years ago - 2009! Does that mean the JC bands will be performing Overture No. 2?
Not necessarily. As seen from the 2023 SYF, the Set Piece for secondary schools was "Tanah Di Bawah Angin" and the Set Piece for Junior Colleges / Institutions was "Kinderszenen".
yes
@@NILx3it’s confirmed that JCs are playing overture no.2 already

Snare drum sounds disappointing to me
Timpani was much louder than the weird snare drum.
I agree. Snare was kinda softer than expected
