This was the show opener, and this as you are aware was Floor’s first tour as the vocalist for Nightwish. Still…note the roar of approving cheers when she walks out on the stage, before she’s even sung a note. Floor’s first band, After Forever, shared a lot of the same fans as Nightwish, and had toured Europe opening for Nightwish. When Tarja was dismissed, Floor was one of the people a lot of fans were hoping would replace her. Obviously that didn’t happen then. Floor’s second band reVamp was also very active on the European festival circuit, so most Nightwish fans knew Floor before she finally did join the band in 2012, and were excited about her taking over the mic.
Amazing show opener. That's why Floor has such a dramatic entrance and the crowd is going nuts. As others have said this was Floor's coming out party for Nightwishes's European fans. She had joined the band about 10 months earlier in the middle of their North and South American tour and had only done a few small European shows before this show.
Now that's how you open up a show
What still blows my mind is that none of these songs up until then were written for Floor at this point in time -- although, one could argue they always were.
What an opener, what an entrance by the new vocalist! Floor owning the stage from the very beginning!
This concert is the perfect storm of absolute FIRE performances from every member of the band, awesome lighting and stage production, filming and world class recording/mixing/editing and a great audience! NW was (and still is) at the top of their game! Enjoyed your reaction as usual guys.

That showopener was Floors "baptism of fire" to the big European nightwish fanbase, there were some shows on the continent before Wacken but only for a 3 to 5k audiance. She was superb. She not only took the spectators in the palm of her hand from this first song on, she closed her hand and she never opened it untill after the end of the show closer " Last ride of the day".
As others have said this was the opening number at the time. An opener on later tours has been Shudder Before the Beautiful. If you watch that one from Wembley I think you will enjoy, and get the same sense of having the audience in the palm of their hand from the start.
Great recommendation. Especially as Wolfman loves his keyboards!

The instrumental in the set was The Last of the Wilds (song #9 of 15). That allowed Floor time for an outfit change.
This was Nightwish Wacken 2013 show opener, if you decide to do the Wacken concert on a livestream you will be listening to this song for the second time, but just like fine aged wine Nightwish gets better each time you listen to them. It may be your second listen but I think it’s my 5,999 time I’ve view the Wacken concert so please make it a even 6,000! This old Metal rock head and a fan for well over 22 years of Nightwish my mantra for listening to Nightwish is; “MY FAVORITE NIGHTWISH SONG IS ALWAYS THE LAST SONG I’VE LISTENED TO!” Rock On Stay Safe!🙏🐶🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
When the first track of the gig is able to execute with this high quality infront of the massive audience it must have brought such an energizing relief. Especially to Floor who performed for the biggest audience by far in her career. Most definitely the loads were heaviest on her shoulders, like on other band member's too since this was their first time as a headliner at Wacken Open Air... The biggest Metal festival on the wörld. After realizing with all their senses : "DÄÄÄMMM this goes pretty freakin well".... Rest of the show became legendary by Nightwish for all of us who likes excellent live performances.

The sound Tech was amazing at the Wacken Concert ,The band was tight, And Floor was still new to the Band as it was her first official concert as a New Member to Nightwish. Previously she helped Nightwish with there Tour of America while Annette was unwell. Learn the setlist in 48 Hours ( Great we Doco from Nightwish ). Another enjoyable watch with you guys just keep it comin' much enjoyed Thank you.
The mood before the concert was somehow different at that time. Nobody really knew Floor yet, but as soon as she entered the stage she had the whole crowd immediately firmly under control and the enthusiasm knew no bounds anymore... It was a magical night!
They did know her…her first band After Forever had a lot of the same fans as Nightwish and had toured Europe opening for a Nightwish, not to mention her second band reVamp was very active on the European festival circuit. She was not unknown to most fans at that time, and they knew she’d be great.
@@Zozo-K- That may have been true for the older ones, but for many of us teenagers it was the first concert ever and we had no idea who Floor was.
Can we talk about the beauty of the lyrics, for a non native English speaker Tuomas has an incredible grasp of the language

Another great show opener, from both Wembley and Tampere is Shudder Before the Beautiful...if you haven't already...its equally powerful and wonderful!
The Wacken 2013 show is available on blu ray as Showtime/Storytime...its a masterpiece of live recording and performance!

Now the dark chest of wonders does or did exist, we have told you of Tuomas' view that he is a man with a boy's heart and boy or inferences thereto are Tuomas speaking of himself and he writes a lot from experiences.
He has said the Dark Chest he found as a very small boy in his grandparents attic, it was filled with toys and books that took his imagination on a very exciting ride to imaginary places.
So if we dig into the lyrics for example. . . . . . . ."Once there was a child's dream,
One night the clock struck twelve
The window open wide
Once there was a child's heart
The age I learned to fly
And took a step outside
And:
Once I knew all the tales, It's time to turn back time"
Especially; "One with a pure heart, once so long ago", Tuomas the small boy, and Floor always sings "one with a pure heart" in a very high head voice as you might expect from an excited child.
It's always worth digging into Tuomas' lyrics if possible, he wastes nothing in the music or lyrics, it's all there for a reason.
Ya know, at the very start of this DVD show, before Dark Chest Of Wonders even starts, I really like the opening scenes of the crowd and the written narrative along with the extended musical note underlying it. it totally sets the mood for what is about to come. I'd like to see reactions to what's seen before the concert begins. It's really cool!
A couple of other notes....
Commenters have mentioned that Floor was their most recent singer at the time of this show (August 2013). She had, however, been performing with the band since the previous October. I saw what was to be (and unknown to most everyone at the time) Annette's final show with the band (Salt Lake City) and two days later saw Floor's first show (Seattle). I was stationed near Seattle (in the Army) at the time and made the road trip to SLC and was able to see both shows. I related that story to Floor during a meet & greet when I saw them in St. Pete, FL. She smiled the whole time! Kamelot was opening for them on that 2012 US tour and I'm a big fan of theirs as well.

Nightwish , Ladies and Gentlemen !!! They have opened the Valhalla gates , and now the Valkyrie Goddess walks among us 🤘🤩🤘!!!
This is one of three great openings from them ("Dark Chest Of Wonders", "Shudder Before The Beautiful" and now "Music" intro followed by "Noise" ).
This was Floor’s coming out party at Wacken with Nightwish.
At this point Floor had been with Nightwish for 10 months. Most fans had not seen her yet with Nihgtwish. And Wacken was the biggest concert for Nightwish, they were the headliner, the last performer right after Alice Cooper. Nightwish ended the concert around midnight.
I'm sure the word was out about Floor beeing perfect for Nightwish. There were/are lots of fan recorded videos on YT from the early Nightwish with Floor concerts starting from the beginning of October 2012 when Floor joined Nightwish. Needless to say, she won them over immediately, capturing their souls from the getgo and not letting go for 15 songs. The whole show is fantastic.

If you ever question which version if a live Nightwish song to react to, Wacken 2013 should be a default if it was played there as a starting point. You can't go wrong with any song from this concert.
Except for I Want My Tears Back. The Wacken performance is great, but the Buenos Aires version is special.
Yes, this was the show opener at Wacken 2013. After watching tens of openings
in my long life this NW opening is among one of the best ever, if not the best one.
There have been from Rolling Stones to ACDC and Metallica etc. but I prefer this

Floor was not there at start as it was the first number, and the first time most of these 82,000 properly would see her. So a good entrance required.
And Boy, was this a good entrance!

To be picky, this is Tuomas' band not Floor's as such.
By the way, the other 3 big concerts are just as good: Tampere 2015, Wembley 2015 and Buenos Aires 2018 (every bit the equal of Wacken 2013)

Floor was still a temp singer here. They didn't bring in in full time in 2015. She said this was her first time walking out to 82,000 people. Does she look nervous?
Just a little at first! Then she just takes over!
Just sad, as American you would never see such an Show of Them, as they only play small to medium Venues in your Area(till now). What to say else what isnt said, she blew us all out of the boots( had no wearable socks left for this Day anyway) i saw some insecurity as she walks in, but i cant find it in the vid, is somewhat darkened then i remember it.

Personally love 2k13 but some Songs in the 2k18 wacken Set are just better. You dont see many recaps of that bcs of the almost instant blocking if someone release it. just give it an watch not for recap, if you want an other Perspective.
