Although I am not a quilter, your video was very helpful and informative with regards to understanding the bias, cross and lengthwise grains. Thank you for your detailed explanation that was clear and concise. BTW, loved your wit and sense of humor.
You. Are. Brilliant. Thank you so much for sorting out the questions I had. Wonderful. I think I've cut all my pieces badly, now I have to go and check the grain.
I have learned more from you in those short few mins about material than I have in my life time. Thanks so much for posting this very useful video and I wish you were my next door neighbor, Love your enthusiasm, its makes a person want to hear and see more videos from you. Happy Sewing!!
You are awesome and fun to watch! You have taught this new quilter a lot in 10 minutes. A lot more than other RUclips tutorial hosts and books over the past several months! Thanks. :)

I've been quilting for a few years now and liked this video. I'm organizing scraps and want to cut 2.5 in. squares and wanted to understand grain better as well as bias.
Wow, this is one cool lady, I subscribed to the channel right away! I have fun watching your videos--I love your straightforward & humorous approach to sewing, it makes it seem much less daunting :D
I am getting back into sewing after a long break. Makes me miss having my Mom to talk to. Glad I found you. About to jump into a bias cut blouse -- making my own pattern. Wish me luck. Not a good sign that my first question is -- what is the bias!
i liked how you briefly explained everything well and i wish you were my teacher. its sort of a challenge to do classes online i rather go to regular school for sewing.
I I have been sewing for years. Your description of the grains was very helpful. I was wondering if it would matter how I laid out a placemat pattern on a one way design fabric. It seems like I can lay it out by creating a new line on the pattern as long as it is the same distance from the salvage. One fabric is plain, but I want to lay it out the same way so when the placemat is washed it will not "curl on the top or bottom of the placemat like the store bought placemats I have that I have washed. Thank you.
I learned some years back that cutting your ruffles on the cross grain (if you don't use the bias) is another option. Using the long grain for ruffles does not give a good ruffle.
U are so adorable :) haha the kid w/ too much energy comment (as my son attempts to climb all over me n get into my sewing things xD I was like yep, so true)
Hi it's a lovely Advice please help me I make a long dress and I want all the way in to floor it is when is made without washing it but after washing it and I ware and the garment gets so tight and the length of the dress gets really sort please tell me the problem
