Nice to see you catching grayling on the Ayr. I recognised where you were by the bridge, nice bit of water to fish. This season has flown in, trout fishing almost at an end, at least you have the grayling to keep you on river a bit longer, West coast weather permitting.
Hi Dezzy, It's been a long time since we played together when we went to school together, do you still have the bramble worms out the back door, best in Dalmellington..I'm glad you enjoyed the video.. All the very best Davie
@@DavieMcPhail that was at back of my grann and grampa house glad you remembered that 😀 we all got the fishing bug at Sarah hainys bridge a worm or no 0 Mepp. Choice of tackle near 50 year ago 😀
Nice day on the River Ayr, Davie... thank you. A brownie, more than a half dozen grayling I think, and a full limit of leaves. Davie, the "big open cast" you mentioned when fishing the dry with two nymphs... is that a Belgian D cast, or ??? Mike
Hi Mike, I would say it's very much the same as it keeps the flies moving and away from one another so that you don't have the nymphs falling back onto the other flies especially the dry fly so having an open cast with no tight loops when the wind is gusting and blowing all around you... I did catch a few leaves that day though the fish made it worth all the hassle of taking them off every second cast... All the very best Davie
Hi Allen, I'm using a Cadence 9ft 4wt with their reel and line which I can say I love to fish with as you may see in my videos...It certainly suits the way I like to fish and as well the waters in my area..I have attached a link below for you to see.. www.cadencefishing.co.uk/product-category/fly-fishing/single-handed-rods/ All the very best Davie
Hiya Davie, lovely video as always 👍 I’ve noticed on your fishing videos that you mostly fish traditional floating line on your local rivers. Do you ever use euro nymphing set ups as most anglers now do on the Welsh Dee where I fish/live .? Mark, Llangollen 🏴
Hi dongil123, I've not which I know many will think I must be the only one that fly fishes that hasn't seen it, I just never had the chance to but maybe one day..I'm glad you enjoyed the video.. Al the very best Davie
Curious, do you have to pay to fish the River Ayr? My time in Scotland found me stunned at the costs and limitations to water access and use. What a shame for a country that has had so much to do with the invention and advancements of flyfishing to be so punitive toward the sport. My Gillie told me that the solitude of a "beat" justifies the cost. Your thoughts? Nice video though.
Very relaxing and enjoyable video. Always eager for a new post from you. Please keep them coming.
Thanks Davie, another great video and brilliant to see you back on the Ayr!
Cheers, Murray
What a treat! Having breakfast watching you on the river. If you can't be there this is the next best thing! ❤😊
Красивая река, красавица рыба , класс! Места шикарные. Благодарю, Дэви, за интересную прогулку по реке, нахлыст это круто! Супер!🤝🇰🇿
Beautiful scenery with a variety of riffles and runs on this part of the Ayr
Every day is good day if you spend it fishing, thanks Davie

I love fishing my local stillwaters but I’m a river guy at heart need to move up to Scotland where the rivers are better looked after.

Is worm /shrimp or spinning allowed on that river ?
