I love your Titanic mentions Misty. My 2x great grandfather had booked passage for the entire family to come to Canada. He wrapped up his business and sold their household belongings faster than he had anticipated and cancelled their Titanic bookings 3 weeks before sailing for another ship. Apparently the daughters were livid as they were so excited about getting to sail on Titanic. They would have been below deck as they sure were not wealthy. My great gram met my great gramp on the trip over. I'm glad you and Mark are safe and sound. My mom had been stuck In Port Colborne, Ontario due to Lake effect snow on the north shore of Lake Erie. The same system effecting Buffalo, NY. Take care.
Here in California the uglier the weather is you know the thrift stores are going to be busy. Where I live there's flea markets pretty much every single day so always something going on. People who close for a little snow or rain make me laugh.
After living in Fairbanks, Alaska for 15 years I’ll be happy to never see snow again. We grew up in the Midwest, too and drove in all kinds of weather including white out blizzards. At least you have leftover pizza!
@@ThrifterJunkerVintageHunter I should have noted my observation was intended to be a compliment. Just remember not to overload the car with mineral specimens.

Thank you so much for taking us on your travels .I live in the UK and have zero chance of getting to the USA so loving seeing so many places with you and Mark. My goodness you two have the patience of saints ,that would of been driving me nuts everything closed that way. Us Brits are always moaning how this country closes down at the first sign of snow but then I guess everywhere else does too. But then we don't know what the weather maybe like for the workers to travel there and not everyone is confident driving in it either ,and who doesn't like a day off on a cold day ☺
I am sorry the weather for your trip is so yucky. I live on Lake Erie in PA, nasty weather here. Wind chill is -8° and snow. Everything is still open though, we are all used to it. When I lived in Southern New Mexico and it snowed everything shut down! Hope you get a break in the weather soon.
Sevierville is quite a destination for antiques. I went there last year. I found the prices quite high...it's a tourist place. It's still fun to look. I'm glad you found a few places to shop.

Tourist towns ...prices are for the millions of visitors that want a REALsouveiner and experience from the Smokys . The temp drops so quickly in those mountains . The roads are curvey goat paths , it can get scary fast with ice. Hope you enjoy your visit finding some attractions to visit .
Glad you finally found a place to eat! Loved the video, just had to giggle everytime the gps told you your route may be affected by the winter storm. Appreciate you so much, always look forward to your adventures AND showing people you can still have a good time even if things don’t do as planned.
Sevierville has awesome antique places, we hit quite a few when we stayed in Gatlinburg. There are quite a few places heading into Gatlinburg. Hope you have/had a blast.
Just wanted to let you know that I enjoyed this video. I could see myself having my husband drive me to these thrift stores and antique malls only to find them closed. I would be so disappointed and frustrated but you had a great attitude and sense of humor, lol. The restaurant looked good, glad you found somewhere to eat. Hopefully, the weather improves!
You need to understand that most employees live outside of these towns and the snow was worse and the back roads were too dangerous to drive on. Live 15 miles from Gatlinburg and we had 12 inches of snow!
This was so much fun to watch. Went on trip to Florida once only stayed three days due to hurricane and everything was closed. We didn’t know it was coming. This winter storm was really kind of bad because it affected so many states. I did have a good laugh when a cousin told me they were freezing because temp was in the forties. We have had highs of 4 degrees for three days in row now and the snow has frozen into mounds of ice. The passenger side of my car is frozen shut and I can’t put my car windows down because they are frozen too. Will be going out to garage tomorrow with a hairdryer to try to melt the ice. Like I said I really enjoyed your road trip!
I'm sorry you missed seeing some of the malls you had planned for. That's just the way it is in the south (I'm Alabama). The main roads may be fine, but not the miles of county/country roads that the employees have to drive to get into work. They seem to err on the safe side. We've been shut down since Tuesday. Looking forward to your next stops.
I live about 4 hours south of Gatlinburg and our roads are frozen solid sheet of ice, schools are out until at least Thursday and may not even open then. The south shuts down over ice and snow 😊
I am soooooooooooo loving this Vlog. I really enjoy the hell out of you normally but this is really fun. Tell Mark he was born to be a 🌟 🌟 🌟. Travel more❤
Misty, minimum wage in Tennessee is $7.25 an hour and living in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge is expensive. Most restaurant employees probably live a good distance from work where housing is affordable so bad roads can present a real problem.
I go to Pigeon Forge / Sevierville every September and love the antique malls in the area. With the high prices, its hard to find deals if you're a reseller like me but still fun to look. Also, I am in West Tennessee (originally from ILL) and we got 4 inch's of snow that has shut school down for the entire week.
Girl, you had me laughing, and you brought back memories( Or a nightmare) My husband and I took a trip years ago and we had car troubles. It was like a Friday night could not find a place to take our car. When we did they could not fix it until Monday. When they went to fix it they didn't have the part. Had to wait for that. And that whole weekend was a disaster. The town like closed down even traffic lights blinked after 8pm. And the town was like eerie. We were talking about it the other day but couldn't remember where it was . Bingo it was in Tennessee! Be safe and try and make the best of it!
Mark was so chill lol. I would have been a tad frustrated with what seemed like EVERYTHING closed.Loved coming along on your trip and seeing it as you went without taking those closed places out Misty!
Restaurants are probably closed so the workers can get home safely before the inclement weather arrives. Some of them might commute. Fun Vlog, as always! Life happens!
For everyone poking fun at us for closing things.....the first Goodwill you stopped at was in my little town of Seymour. No we don't get snow alot, and alost of us live on backroads, and hills...the snow yesterday was really bad in spotty areas....the places in Gatlinburg have to think of, if they want to put their workers in jeapordy travling the back shaded roads to get there, so they close. Seymour, after you came through, got about 7" of snow....we don't have snowplows in Seymour, so we've all been hunkered down at our houses. In Knoxville, after you left, they got 10" of snow. That is ALOT of snow for Knoxville. Cars were off the road everywhere. They closed the airport it got so bad last night. The interstate coming into Knoxville became backed up with people trapped on it.. Until you try driving up an icy East TN Mountain in the bad weather, with or without a 4 wheel drive, don't poke fun at us...We aren't the North, we're the south. I'd love to have known you were driving by my house because I could have told you my favorite thrift shops and antique shops !
I 100% appreciate the business that thought about the safety of their employees and patrons. Knoxville was BAD. Gatlinburg only got rain up until Tuesday morning. It's the same for northern IN vs southern IN. Not as many plows and curvy roads and hills.
@@ThrifterJunkerVintageHunter There are some really good shops, antique malls, etec., over on highway 66 where you were, I hope they're open for you before you leave. I'm also the one who emailed you with 200 sets of salt and pepper shakers LOL, but we were, and are, snowed in, here in Seymour.
I’m in Georgia. We close the state if there are flurries in the air, plus clean out the grocery stores of bread and milk. Re - pool. We don’t tarp over our pools in the south, we also don’t swim in them! Ours is at 47*, but after leaves fall, we uncover and just wait for warm weather.
I grew up in Western New York and now I live in Southern Kentucky. Every time it snows down here the whole town closes and me an my husband always crack up.
I am going through this same system as I live just below Chattanooga. I couldn't get my car doors open to go to the post office today, there was actually icicles on the roof. (I grew up outside of Buffalo, so I know it doesn't seem like much) I have learned living around here though why things shut down so much, is that a lot of people in the counties live up on the mountains & some in the same county can live in the valley. The higher elevation is always worse of course & they might get a lot more ice/snow than down below. So the people that work in those tourist places would never be safe enough to make it home. All the thrift stores were closed yesterday & today & I have an antique booth & found out they were closed yesterday. But it will be in the single digits tonight, so everything that thawed can re-freeze. I'm sure you know all that living in Ohio. I really hope you found some things to do though! Be safe!! My GPS told me the same thing, but I was laughing so hard at you saying "I know" lol
Sorry that just about everything was closed, seems like everyone was getting hit with this weather . We’re getting more snow early Friday morning mama not happy about it. That pizza looked so delicious. Hope you guys had a better day. Thank you for sharing ❤

Gosh, we had way more snow near Chattanooga and most places were open. I guess because it is a tourist area and they are in between seasons, if they decide to close they just do it. Hope it's better today!

I have lived in Tn for years and the rain turns to ice. Then thaws and turns to ice over and over. Snow ok ice not ok. Most people live in rural ares and commute. Plus lots of things are seasonal in Gatlinburg area. We don't live far away and are iced in. Just thought I would explain our thinking. We think like southerners. Lol
Sorry for your luck w holiday and weather closures. Visited TN couple yrs ago. Beautiful area! Didn't make it to Rocky Top but wish we had. Maybe next time! Safe travels. Very cold here in central Illinois. Schools closed. Roads slick. Dangerous temps.1 16 24
Yeah.... We don't do winter weather well in the South. Here in Alabama we got sheets of ice and are stuck at home. I'm impressed that you were able to go up the mountain to Gatlinburg, but looks like you came in through Sevierville which is easier. I'm interested to see what today was like for y'all. Be safe!!
Well that was no fun considering you went to shop and buy for resale. At least you got to get away for a while, and you are driving a safe car. Hope you get back safe and if you do have to stay I hope you can find somewhere to eat.
Glad you two found an open restaurant to eat at, I tell ya' if that was inclement weather, they certainly wouldn't know what to do up in northern Michigan! Right now, I have about 24" of snow and we still go out in it like usual. Take Care!

Misty I am from Mass. When we lived in MD, the first sign of a snowflake everything shut down. My mom would go anywhere and people thought she was nuts. We could drive in it and we were used to it. Watch out for others. Have fun..Heidi
I live in Okc. Have been house bound for days due to weather. Snow and several days below freezing. It doesn’t happen here that much but it can be annoying. My car is front wheel drive and my driveway is on a slope. Sun finally melted the snow even when only 17 degrees. Stay safe. I am enjoying tour trip.
I live in TN. I work in Nashville and live in Sparta about 2 hours south. We got unusually amount of snow and way below average temps and we are not use to that. When it snows in TN we shut down. I am sorry it happen on the week you came to TN. I hope you come back when the weather is better.

You are a hoot, Misty! "We know," is on loop regarding the inclement weather! I really am enjoying this trip. I'm now a new subscriber.❤
Knoxville here. We got ten inches of snow & expect to be -3 tonight . Nothing will be open until spring.
Knoxville got hit hard!!!
I’m such a Mom! When you finally found a place to eat I thought, thank goodness they’ll have leftovers if everything closes the next day!😂
You are too funny. I wish I had your energy.
Lol
"We Know".... funny talking to GPS.
A lot of the antique places around me were closed Monday for the MLK holiday. Maybe it was a combination of the holiday and the weather?
Sorry for your luck w holiday and weather closures. Visited TN couple yrs ago. Beautiful area! Didn't make it to Rocky Top but wish we had. Maybe next time! Safe travels. Very cold here in central Illinois. Schools closed. Roads slick. Dangerous temps.1 16 24
I'm from Livingston, TN. When I go home to visit I go to the shops on the square and they are so expensive.
I look for Ravensburger jigsaw puzzles at thrift stores. They are great puzzles to work on.
You are in a tourist area. That is why the prices are so high. I am with you, I prefer a fast nickle rather than a slow dime.
Hope you get back safe and if you do have to stay I hope you can find somewhere to eat.
thanks for bringing us along with you. I hope that you find lots of good stuff!
Yes! In the south we shut down if it snows!!😂
Misty, I can relate to you about the weather as I live in the cold north called Canada. Snow is snow, lol. Hopefully it will get better soon
Oh misty you made me laugh so much, telling the sat nav you know😂 I felt your frustration at all being shut xx
Glad you two found an open restaurant to eat at, I tell ya' if that was inclement weather, they certainly wouldn't know what to do up in northern Michigan! Right now, I have about 24" of snow and we still go out in it like usual. Take Care!
I moved to TN ten years ago from up north. TN shuts down for any snow flurries. It still makes me laugh. That antique store was really expensive 🌻✨️
Being in South Texas we would be house bound if it was snowing here. We don’t do snow at all! Lol. And it has just been cold here and it’s awful!
I always enjoy your sound effects! They make me giggle, your channel is so fun!
Glad you like them!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I love the Apple Barn too...those apple fritters....Yum!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
We have 9 inches here near Pigeon Forge about an hour away. . Give it a day things should be back to normal❤
A lot of places may have been closed for the holiday on the 15th. And some may have closed preemptively due to the forecast.
Boy Tennessee is getting tgese storms very badly my sister in law and her daughter lives down there ,why can't you look them up to see if there close the thrift stores and good wills ,glad you found one open good will,I have that egg tuper ware container I use it all the time ,that pool might be a heated pool ,
Misty I am from Mass. When we lived in MD, the first sign of a snowflake everything shut down. My mom would go anywhere and people thought she was nuts. We could drive in it and we were used to it. Watch out for others. Have fun..Heidi
You had me laughing all the way!!!!
Hey. I go there when I visit my daughter. Sorry you missed it. It’s a nice place.
I live in TN. I work in Nashville and live in Sparta about 2 hours south. We got unusually amount of snow and way below average temps and we are not use to that. When it snows in TN we shut down. I am sorry it happen on the week you came to TN. I hope you come back when the weather is better.
Doyle girl here it is totally different isn’t it. We also worry about our workers getting home and ice on the roads
@@sharibaker7056 I say that I live in Sparta but I am Doyle (on Disneyland) small world.
I really appreciate the fact that the business do care for their employees safety!
I BET YOU FLIPPED YOUR LID A FEW EDITS AROUND AND THIS WAS STILL FUN TO WATCH. THANKS !!!!
