Not only that. But the dude hit absolute rock bottom, where most people woulda given up. But he fought back, battled addiction, and completely turned his life around.
That letter he wrote is brilliant. I have a ton of respect for him. I am glad he has learned, as a 30 year Charger fan I hated him back in the day. But he is a human being. And deserves some empathy and understanding, like we all do. Respect.
I wasn't really a hater, just thought of him as one of those guy's that never seems to learn just because he had been in so much trouble recently, but man he really seems to have turned things around. It's really cool to see him where he is today. It's really, really awesome it makes me happy to see. I have a huge amount of respect for him owning up to everything and trying to prevent it from happening to others, nothing but respect for Ryan.
I love Leaf's interview! He definitely has a future in the media. He is also a very inspiring person, and you have to really respect the changes he has made in his life, as well as how far he has come.
Wow... one of the best interviews I've ever seen. This guy has come a long way from all the negativity that surrounded him in the early to mid 2000's. To be able to be THAT sincere and open about what happened back in 98', just everything in general both football and life, was really impressive to see. Good for you man, keep up the great work!
I'm remember Leaf at his worst. It's great to see him at his best. What an unbelievable change! I hope he stays healthy and continues to help others who need him.
I like Ryan Leaf. I really hope this is a genuine and long lasting turn for him and not one of those moments that we've all had with addicts where they seem fine but you later figure out "oh yeah, he was thinking about his next fix during that awesome talk we had". Really rooting for Ryan though! He seems to be doing quite well these days
You guys like this guy because he had time to grow so before you tear down an athlete, musician, the president ...... just know they can always turn it around
I really want to like Ryan Leaf, and I want to believe he's changed. But you'll forgive me if I need a little more time. Some of the negative things he's done will always linger, no matter what.
You have to hand it to this guy. He lived it, owned it, and took responsibility. I'm happy for him.
Not only that. But the dude hit absolute rock bottom, where most people woulda given up. But he fought back, battled addiction, and completely turned his life around.
I'm proud of Ryan Leaf - he's matured so much and is totally honest about himself and his past.

Great Interview! Happy to hear and see that Ryan Leaf is doing well for himself!
I went from hating this guy to really liking him.

I wouldn't say I ever hated him. I'd say I went from making fun of him to really liking him.

I love this guy so much. As the son of addicts, to see him succeed in recovery gives me so much hope.

A Real Man can reflect on past mistakes and own them and talk about it.
Just saw his E60 story. Very well done and eye opening.

Seems like he's still doing well! I like this dude alot actually.
This draft analysis is so interesting to listen to in 2021
blown away - not sure he'll ever stay sober, but his story is so important.
Luv leaf!
The underrated portion of this video is how Ryan Leaf's Paulie impression is spot on.
Must've missed that part, where was it?
You guys like this guy because he had time to grow so before you tear down an athlete, musician, the president ...... just know they can always turn it around
You good ppl Ryan
Seriously people forget how talented this guy was. If he wasn't so immature he could have been one of the greats
Media ate him up... he was a bust in their terms, but come on great college player and person in spite of what the media says.
Seeing this in hindsight the Mahomes talk is funny.
He could play. he just was not built for pressures of the nfl
He is still better than capernick.
I really want to like Ryan Leaf, and I want to believe he's changed. But you'll forgive me if I need a little more time. Some of the negative things he's done will always linger, no matter what.
Mitch Trubisky was a huge bust for the Bears
I went from hating this guy to still hating this loser. Huge gigantic bust. Hey Ryan, can you come and talk to these QBs and show them how NOT to be?
