@@OSSOYT yup. My wife bought me one of those ecospheres and that's how I got into them. I was guided through everything when I set up my 10g for them. They've been in my 10g for almost a year and are happy little buggers

Great vid Mark. I just started a filterless colony in a three gallon jar in my classroom. So far mine seem to be doing well. Good luck to both of us! Cheers, Chris
I have mine in 3l tank. No filter. Lot of makroalgae. Lava rocks are Best natural filter,. Too much water changes slows breeding. Best food is smallest tetra fish food. They love it.
how did you get so much groth of algae ? I st up a nano tank (30L) with a mangrove in it and even put a bit fertilizer in it and have no algae growth, the mangrove can´t be succing up that much :D please help :D

I did but I no longer buy from him, he sent me a faulty heater and refuses to even answer any email from me, I have not even made a video about it or anything shit talking him, he just refuses to talk to me. the algae was cheato algae, this tank is so frustrating, the shrimp are not dead but they dont do much ever, could explain why they live for nearly 20 years hahahaha
@@MarksShrimpTanks I have also heard that about him and I have been debating with my self about buying from him, but he has some interesting shrimp and snails that are not available in Denmark.

You made mention of how Not to add the salt into the water w/o the shrimp, but what will you do to properly add salt back into the tank after a water change when there are shrimp in the tank?
Can anyone tell me the make / brand / where to buy powerhead filter(s) with slide on/off sponge as shown in the video, please. I've tried various air pump / sponge filter set-ups and also different internal filters and my next 'project' was going to be trying to cobble together something that combines the best of both, ie. the large surface / grazing area of a sponge filter (unlike the usual tiny sponge block in a box of an internal filter), but without the noise of an air pump, however if there's an existing design already available?
Great video, thanks again. One thing I was expecting you would do was testing (with refractometer) the water in which the shrimp came in. Unless I missed it, it is something I would do for these kind of shrimps.
could have drilled the rock and used PVC to hold the hardscape together, also could have used bigger rocks that way :D Also where do I get a power head that can hook up to a sponge filter like that?

I've been intentionally avoiding getting some of these for so long, I guess this is a sign to change that

This is so pretty!! I absolutely love how algae looks growing on rocks! So natural looking!
It doesnt look like this anymore it has way more coral, lava rock and cheato algae added to the tank and about a thousand opae Ula :)
by the way the idea for its first look was great but opae grow slow so It took almost a year for me to start seeing them.

Great tank how do you clean the lava rocks & do shrimps need the lava rocks & is that aquarium salt.
I washed mine under the tap and yes that was aquarium salt its called instant ocean.
The shrimps doesn’t necessarily need lava rocks but they do came from volcanic rock pools (in their natural habitat)

Hey Mark. Any specific kind of lava or just the kind for the grill?
grill stuff is what I used, rinsed it off
@@MarksShrimpTanks Ok thanks..
Hi mark
What did you use to create algae in the aquarium?(caridina shrimp tank)
Nothing at all, I do notice tanks with a lot of general harness grow more green algae on the glass than lower ph tanks.
Thanks brother 🙏👍

Add rocks to bucket. Fill bucket with water. Empty water into another bucket. Measure difference to get volume
