You guys always drop a song when I most need it. I relapsed super hard the other night, and almost ended it all. It was the worst I've ever been. I've just been discharged from the hospital last night, and I couldn't even bring myself to face my parents when I got home. I LOVE YOUR SONGS, CITIZEN SOLDIER ❤ How ironic: when I first saw the title "Save me from my angels" I was so confused. Even though I'm not a religious person, I always viewed angels as a positive symbol. Only when I heard the latter part: "Don't let me fall asleep, these guardians have teeth!" I realized those aren't really angels in any positive meaning. So sorry for everyone who can relate to this song, but I'm so glad if it actually help ya'll. Stay strong, everyone 🫶🫶
I think I get the meaning of the song. I could be wrong but this can be looked at as two ways(or three if you consider the possibility of both being the case) 1) This could be about a complex relationship with God about why he's letting bad things happen to good people and the feeling of leaning on a higher power for solace and only finding hardship and struggle. 2) This is a nod to how there are some people who are supposed to be there for you in your life to uplift you and compliment you, but are actually the root of the problems your dealing with. It could range from a teacher/ counselor who is supposed to guide you, but is actually quite manipulative. A bf/gf who smiles in your face and says they love you, only to rip the breaks off your car later and cheat being with someone else while also still being with you (a side piece essentially), or even your parents/legal guardian who are supposed to take care of you, but aren't really doing a good job to say the least. What everyone in these scenarios all have in common is that these "angels"(or people who are supposed to be there for you) is actually what the band said in the song....."Wolves in sheep's clothing". Again I could be wrong, but that's what I think the band is trying to say here

I once had a teacher in primary school - I always went to her when I had a problem with being cruely made fun of by my peers (especially the class president), but she always took their side and made ME reconcile with them. I was always the one more weird, silly, diffrent, weaker. It took me years to realize that my "favorite" teacher was a fake manipulator, just like every other teacher in this school. I'm doing so much better now, finished highschool with solid grades & left toxic people behind.

A great song of what happens when we submit to something to try and hide a deeper pain, even if it means losing control of ourselves. I kept myself under my ex’s thumb because I couldn’t bare to be alone anymore, despite having to change myself to suit her needs. But now I know taking the easy route doesn’t make the pain go away, it only makes it worse. Instead, we have to find the cure for our pain within first to know what it is we want and how to heal from it

This song reminds me of the doctors and nurses who "cared for" me while I was in the psych hospital in 2019. Their "help" left me traumatized.
