Def got my eye on these as my first purchase of skis about 7 weeks of skiing under my belt using hire skis. As someone who travels by plane to ski resorts and is using either cabs or public transport to get to airports and lives in a city where space is at a premium in the flat, this looks the answer to my problems! I appreciate this video is 2 years old but just come across this concept and this video has possibly sealed the deal!
Good to see that independent reviews are starting to come out about the Voyagers and that things are looking good with them. Considering replacing my Elan Amphibios with a set of these in a few year's time when hopefully Elan has seen these as a success and the price comes down a bit, as will be nice not to have to buy a long-bodied car, purely to be able to transport my skis in their flight bag! My worry is that with the price being high for an upper intermediate/advanced ski, they won't sell well and will get discontinued.
Well said Andy! If I was a skier instead of a boarder and was looking for new skies, based on Your review I would definately concider these Voyagers! 🤙🏼
Great review Andy so thanks for putting that one out. In fact, one of the most comprehensive reviews of any ski I have seen anywhere. I wonder what the long term reliability of mechanical joints will be a after it has been skied a number of weeks. But I suppose the binding locking mechanism is no different to what happens on some touring bindings so perhaps they have done their home-work. Keep up the great work matey and sending the nice views from Zell/Kaprun. The closest we are getting at the moment.
Thanks for the comments Steven, From what I understand the mechanical joints have been modified slightly from the one the military us. That one was tested to failure as a military kit needs to work. The binding is a typical alpine plate binding although can rotate at one end and it has the additional on ski interface. It all seemed pretty robust to me but that said so did every pair of my Atomics I have had the last 9 years but they have all split under the foot at some point of another one pair within 7 days most within a few months of us. Granted Atomic replace them every time with no fuse.
I don't think we have said that in the review or that it says it on Elans web site that you can carry on. What we have said is you can check in as normal baggage. So you do not have to spend time going to drop off oversize baggage or wait for your skis to come out after your other bags. As you know skis always seem to come out last.
@@SnowCampsEurope Ok got you, great video mate. Is the base a typical polyethlene and would you need to do anything different with servicing given its foldable?
@@BramskiVlogs The guys from Elan tell me the base has been tested by Wintersteiger and can be serviced like another ski. When waxing I think you will get a build-up of wax in the hinge if this was an issue I would just use a liquid wax.
If you travel a lot would you consider a folding ski?

Great video pal…spotted them in the ski shop a couple of weeks ago and was curious about the performance. You answered the obvious questions 👍
I am in China, I do need plane travel everytime to ski. I feel it is perfect to me as you said. Thanks.

If I could afford them think I would certainly buy them, think I'm a good intermediate, should be been skiing long enough.
I think like every innervation in the ski industry Patricia we will see the price come down as demand for the product grows and they can mass produce.
Great demonstration, not too technical and easily understood. Skis look the real deal too expensive for me but look ideal for plane travel
Thanks for your feed back
Is it a definite you would be able to take them as hand luggage on the plane? If so that's a brilliant piece of innovation.
