    Hi Ranzee, I agree we don't need upgrade yet there is no benefit to do so and the software manufacturers will eventually catch up. I am sticking with Mojave which I only went to about 3 moths ago so no rush.

      I'm still on High Sierra :) mainly because I'm worried the 2012 mac mini hardware wont support Mojave ... Yep no rush!

    What is REALLY important is that if you DO take that leap to upgrade to Catalina or do any OS jump up... be absolutely sure you have a FULLY FUNCTIONAL BOOTABLE BACKUP of your system drive (like made with SuperDuper). This will cost you almost nothing but could be your best investment. Then you always can decide to jump back easily in case something does not work after all.
    In fact you can even have 2 OS systems and just work with both for the heck of it and do a part of your stuff in new shiny Catalina and keep doing all your other work in Mojave.
    Had to add this to you already great post here, @ranzee (thumb up)

    I wish I would have seen this and cautioned the auto update on my brand new 2019 Mac Book Pro. I use Xcode and my three projects stopped working immediately after the update to MacOS 10.15. Right before the MacOS update, I was using Xcode 11 and am now on Xcode 11.1. I've tried a lot of the suggestions regarding deleting Derived Data, providing application full access to folders, and confirming that they were 64 bit compatible. Side note: I am able to open all three projects just fine on my older Mac Book Air (MacOS 10.14.6 & Xcode 11)

      ranzee UPDATE... It appears that the problem is in how Xcode uses Reference folders. I have been able to confirm that in Xcode 11.1 with MacOS 10.14.6, you can copy an html resource folder and it’s contents with no issues. There are tons of RUclips videos doing this for web apps using Webviews. In MacOS 10.15, I was able to find out that I can work around by copying an empty folder and then copying in the files. There may be an issue with folder naming as well. The old folder was called “projectName.hyperesources”. On my new system, I had to create a new folder minus the “.hyperesources”. I believe this is why the project crashes when opened on the new machine. If I remove the folder on the older machine and then open the project on the new machine, it opens just fine. 🤔🤔🤪🤪

    If you have a large music library, stay away! When it split my media up between music to the Music app, video to TV app and audiobooks to Books app, the later two were fine but boy did it screw up my music library! Missing album artwork, and syncing with my iphone was hell, causing the Music app on the desktop to create something like 50 ghost/empty playlists!! Thank goodness I kept a perfect Mojave clone of my computer and was able to to go back(after a day of pain wiping and reinstall) to my previous setup. For all the headaches iTunes may have, it at least worked without screwing up my music collection and 10 years of curated playlists and albums!

    DO NOT UPGRADE TO IOS CATALINA!!!!!!!!
    there is a significant bug in the new OS or Filmic pro app that prevents you from transferring more than one file at a time. This has been frustrating to many of us who have upgraded to Catalina, and we're hopeful that Apple and Filmic pro will issue an update to resolve this bug soon.
    Please, no finger-pointing...
    Just fix it!!!

    I'm adding my name to the DO NOT UPDATE YET list. It took hours to update and when it did there it locked me out of my Apple ID-I had to reset it-contact Apple and then I got Apps showing up in my list that indicating needing updating that Apple no longer supports or I never used. I can watch only watch Videos in Twitter and RUclips-but video playbacks won't play in my favorite browser OPERA> I've searched things for hours and opened up a help question in Opera Forums and no help. I'm not a programmer-I just want to have things work something I paid a lot of money for. I've contacted Geek Squad and they can't even remote in for assistance since the Catalina Upgrade. I wish I would have read the warnings before I did this.

    Too many bugs and no support for 32bit software caused a lot of problems with printer/scanner drivers and older software. Do not upgrade until new drivers come out and Apple patches Catalina (the quality of MacOS has gone downhill the last years - that's evident from the 2.5GB regular patches...)

    • @ranzee
      @ranzee  5 лет назад +1

      Ableton 9 wont work - as mentioned in my video. Apparently you can downgrade your Mac. I haven't personally done this, but there's a few websites that offer instructions on how to do it (like this one: www.macworld.co.uk/how-to/mac-software/downgrade-macos-3581872/). I would caution that anything like this should be backed up prior. Hopefully you also backed up your system prior to updating to Catalina. If you did, you could just simply restore your backup and it will have the previous Mac OS. I'm not responsible for anything that happens for your mac, so take this advice as general in nature and seek the services of an IT professional if you aren't sure/confident on these matters. Good luck!

    computers for years, this is the worst OS update i have ever seen. I use my mac laptop for business such as video editing, DJing and for my flight simulator, etc; everything worked flawlessly ...AFTER that stupid update to Catalina ......my computer is extremely slow, it constantly freezes, my iTunes no longer works so therefore i lost my libraries in my dj program, my video editing applications and all its plugins no longer work, my flight simulator constantly crashes. I am so upset, why did they have to make such a drastic change? Apple should have gradually fazed out each apps by making the OS 64 bit with 32 bit support ....then gradually inform users when they will stop supporting 32 bit apps, hence giving app developers enough time to update their apps so this transition process to the new update would be easier. I AM TRYING SO HARD NOT TO SAY "apple sucks" ......BUT THEY ARE REALY PISSING M OFF!!! I am unable to restore my mac because my time machine backup drive crashed and could not be recovered, I AM SO UPSET!!
