The Canadian central bank can simply print the money... It doesn't cost them anything (its mostly electronic nowadays).

I am not impressed. They should of had a universal basic income program. My son has had their hours reduced to 15-20 hours, now earning less than 2K a month and unable to meet his financial commitments. So now there are some people who were earning less than him before COVID who are now eligible for the 2Kmth and now earning more than him a month. Something needs to be done and offer a top up to the 2K as this is totally unfair. My other son who is a student is also now unable to work now for tuition. Another day and yet no answers for so many. As many have pointed out, there are so many categories that are still not covered:
    1. Seniors (perhaps they had family members helping them financially or in other ways that have now had to stop because of lost jobs, quarantine etc.)
    2. Disabilities (people that have short or long term disabilities that have been or always been out of work)
    3. Temporarily unemployed (people that had not worked in 2019 due to injuries or other circumstances that had planned to start working again summer of 2020)
    4. Dependents (Households that have dependents that don't qualify for cerb or E.I.)
There are just too many categories to list them all. In my opinion, they should just convert it into a U.B.I. system. EVERYONE is being told to stay home and yet not everyone is making enough money to continue staying home.

Why has no one asked about how they are helping people on fixed incomes, that are on long term disability, that are not seniors? Every day JT says the students need this and that. Well I have been on a fixed income for 12 years. I live in Toronto, alone.
I don’t qualify for any of the benefits that he has announced. Not even the tax credit refund, cause I have to pay taxes every year.

How about in Alberta. Do the health care aides need to work only in one nursing home to prevent cross contamination? How about those who need to work more because income is not enough to pay bills? Do care aides qualified to ask financial assistance from the government? Working part time while receiving financial assistance from the government? Is EI applicable in this case?

If you lost your job and are on disability you can apply for CERB AND RECEIVE BOTH. Apparently BC residents that lost jobs are also getting a 1 time payment of $1000. All this was told to me by a Ministry of BC worker, over the phone, yesterday. So those are the facts hopefully i wasn't misled. If all this is true we need understand how helpful The Gov is making it for us to stay home. even just for a few weeks. I may even get to keep my job with this New Business Subsidy. But some are facing problem from the owners and co-tenant as the students want to vacate the accommodation due to some personal problems/issues but the agreement of one year so they cannot vacate the accommodation on giving month notice. The owner asked them to pay extra rent of six/four month excluding one month advance already with the owner or continue for one year as intimated by the co-tenant . But this is an mental harassment to the students and the parents who are far far from them. At this time of epidemic situation and financial crises the students are not as much fund to pay extra rent of six/five or four months as asking by the owner to leave the accommodation. In this epidemic situation govt. has to make liberal rules for tenants. Need help where can parent contact .

SOLUTION: Those employees who make less then $2000, should be financially aided by the government to reach the $2000 monthly rate.
To those who are working and that make more then $2000, should be taxed at 0.6 to 0.8 instead of taxing them 0.13.

If you are making money then you should be fine. I have an issue with the banks still gouging people. If someone looses their job, they can defer their mortgage which is going to be due for payment within a few months. I mean i work in IT and if i loose my job its not gonna be that straightforward to find a job like that in the economy. So the house that i am living in becomes unsustainable and then bank takes it away.
Mortgage payments should be cancelled not just deferred. Grow a pair Trudeau and Ford and tell the banks not ask them to give relief to their customers.

everyone has forgotten the vulnerable people on ODSP. increasing payments for these folks so they can pay for food delivery to reduce the risk of going shopping in person. Many people have no one to help them get groceries. also those with mental health issues on top of that who are having anxiety and or panic attacks at having to go out and risk increasing mental health hospital visits as poeple break under the pressure. many who would normally go seek help will not do so out of fear which will lead to further break down and risk to the general public as well. a small example is the guy who got run over because he was trying to enforce social distancing, the guy who hit him just snapped, plain and simple. This was obviously a mental health issue. Also Onatio Works barely gives people enough to pay their rent let alone food. Healthy eating on OW is an oxymoron. Food banks don't help as you can only access them once a month and the aamount of food giv3n is only enough for a couple of days. many of these folks for all the above groups would go to church soup kitchens to get meals daily and many of those are no longer open and if they are many will not go as they are afraid of catching the virus as social distancing is impossible at a soup kitchen. This a failure of the government and also by the media as they are not even raising the questions that need to be raised, both at the provincial as well as federal government.

In the future I would like to see a universal income. A universal income means nobody goes without and we won't have to see people beg for money in the streets. Once the system gets back up and running I really do think a universal income to help out the people that need it would be a good thing to look at. It would cut down on crime and homelessness ect and the money would be spent and boost the economy as well. Think of it as a stimulus package.

Chief, Toke A Bowl some people got paid both.. EI and then CERB..
OTTAWA - The government has a warning for those who unduly apply for both Employment Insurance and the new Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB): we will find you, and we will recoup the money.
“We don’t think there is intent to fraud the system in most cases, but there will be some who will try to take advantage of it. We will know who got too much money, and we will go and ask for that money back at some point. It’s very highly likely that we will find them,” explained Janick Cormier, Director of Communications for the Minister of National Revenue, Diane Lebouthillier.

Journalists and people who keep asking the government to give $2000 to all Canadians are not understanding the situation. Not all Canadians have lost their jobs. Besides the essential workers, there are also workers who are able to work from home. It would be more complicated to give everyone $2000 and retroactively ask it back during next year's tax season once the pandemic is over.
