茨城県日立市出身。9歳の時、佐々木光儀師の元で津軽三味線を習い始め、2000年に津軽三味線全国大会のA級女性部門へ初挑戦し、17歳で最年少チャンピオンとなる。東京芸術大学音楽学部邦楽科に在学中の2004年、アルバム「月のうさぎ」でメジャーデビュー、以後、都内のライブハウスを中心にバンド編成による演奏活動をスタート。活動は多岐に渡り皇居内桃華楽堂での御前演奏や、カンヌ国際広告祭をはじめ、北米（カナダ・アメリカ）、南米（チリ・アルゼンチン・ブラジル・ペルー）、アジア（中国・マレーシア・ブルネイ）、北欧（ノルウェー・フィンランド）、南欧（イタリア）、西欧（ベルギー・フランス・ルクセンブルク・ドイツ・オランダ）、東欧（マケドニア・コソボ・グルジア・アゼルバイジャン）、中東（パキスタン）など国際交流基金や在日本大使館主催のコンサート、企業招聘にて演奏を行う。近年「Xperia」TVCMに起用されるなどメディアでも度々取り上げられ、幅広い音楽活動を展開する女流津軽三味線奏者として最も注目される中、2014年「CoLoRful」、2017年に3rdアルバム「Hello,World.」をキングレコードよりリリース。

Chie Hanawa（Tsugaru Shamisen）
Born in Ibaraki, Japan, Chie Hanawa started studying Tsugaru Shamisen at the age of 9 under Mr. Mitsuyoshi Sasaki, where Hiromitsu Agatsuma, the famous Tsugaru Shamisen artist, studied. In 2000, she attended the competition of female level A group among Tsugaru Shamisen national competition for the first time. When she was 17 years old, she became the youngest winner at that time.
She made her major debut from NIPPON COLUMBIA with the release of the album “Tsuki No Usagi” in 2004 while she was at Tokyo University of the Arts. Since then, she started performing with her band at live music clubs in Tokyo. In 2014, her 10th anniversary album “CoLoRful” was released from King Records.
Besides her solo activities, she formed a unit “hanamas” with the violinist Natsumi Okimasu and another Japanese instrumental unit “fuga” that performs music by female artists with a bamboo flute and Tsugaru Shamisen. Her performing activities widely range from the performance at the Imperial Palace to the appearance at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, and she has also performed in North and South America, Asia, Eastern Europe, Middle Eastern countries invited by The Japan Foundation and at events organized by Japanese Embassies, Consulates or companies. In recent years, she has often appeared in media such as TV commercial of Xperia and been received well in Japanese pop music field. As a young Tsugaru Shamisen artist, she continues to expand her field drawing attention from us.
