The issue with adding new challenges to the game (in the overworld) is you need to make them accessible to players of many different skill and equipment levels. To add truly difficult challenges for fully geared out players, you either need to make something that nullifies the purpose of good gear like the deep dark or add it in further sections of the game like the nether. I feel that if they were to do anything with the Trial Key it would not be to unlock a special door. Players would just mine around the door and if Mojang really wants players to be rewarded for exploring an avoidable obstacle separating you between you and a special reward is probably something they would avoid. Maybe they could have a special chest that you can't open normally but that you can use Trial Keys to unlock it and it'll open up spewing a random assortment of treasure before closing and locking again, awaiting the next key.
Personally I think they should make it so you get Mining fatigue once you enter the trial chambers. So those players with pickaxes dont just break through it all (if the key is for a door).
This almost feels like the solution to the upgrade players wanted to the strongholds. It's a new challenge with tons of rooms and rewards of different lvls. I really love this building so far.
20:30 I think there should be a small room behind it, but in it is a special type of chest, that works like a shulker box, where if broken, it drops itself with everything in it, but the contents of the chest can only be obtained if you give it a trial key, which comes in a slot, and to avoid using this as another version of a shulker box, once you feed the chest a key, the contents will now spill out when the chest is broken, like a regular chest.
Steve is here to pitch random Minecraft ideas 1. New shields. Basically the same as the normal one, but not crafted with the more rare ores and rather more unusual materials like a glass shield or copper shield. Perhaps they could be given special functions. 2. New Enchantment. My idea is called Belt l, which all it does would give you an extra hot bar slot. This would be applied to the leggings hence the name “belt.” 3. New food item. Ever since my brother pointed out how Minecraft cake looks like inflated pizza, and I looked at the rectangular shield, I thought perhaps pizza could be in Minecraft and you could use shields as pizza platters. And my last piece of advice: Let your impulsive and intrusive thoughts win.
Just an fyi, what you said was trial room 1 is actually a different room entirely and is in all trial chambers as the grand hall (or something along those lines) and each hall can generate completely randomly in diferent sizes and amounts of spawners (sometimes it can have no spawners what so ever)
100% my favorite structure in the game! I just love the idea of an enormous Dungeon, kinda reminds me a lot of The Aether II: Genesis of the Void (that's 100% Kingbdogz wanting to add his mod to the game bit by bit 😂) A giant dungeon with so many challenges, new features and secrets... I actually plan to find one of these in a server, break the spawners (i know it will take a lot of time, but do it) and use as a military base of some sorts, full of chests and armor, gotta go battle mode! 😅
They might add a way to disable the spawners without needing to destroy them. Not so much because of the breaking time, 75 seconds isn't all that bad (you don't even need to use a pickaxe, it takes the same amount of time to break by hand) but it feels a shame to destroy blocks that can't be replaced. Even if finding another trial chambers isn't hard. Probably just me being overly sentimental, lol
@@alliinase9076 I don't blame you, a block that gives you rewards every 30 minutes being broken permanently is a sad thing, but, for me, for a good reason

Imo it be fun to have some puzzles in these chambers that lead to chests or more trial chamber that would make it just the best version of it self i think lol
I had a great room suggestion basically a long parkour course over water the water is one block high when you fall you can climb back up the ladder there are 2 traps in the water between each jump that are just above the waters height facing up they shoot fire up from the ground that can damage you for 2 hearts plus a flying bubble shooter which just shoots bubbles at you they have 4 hearts of hp and there bubble shots do some knockback but only do 1 heart of damage.
Hot take: the Copper Grate should work as a transparent, selectively permeable block that allows liquids and other non-solids to flow through (like water or wind blasts), but not solid objects (arrows, mobs, etc)
That would be amazing! Alternatively, it could allow projectiles, silverfish, slimes and endermites to pass through, but nothing else. It would be weird, but maybe easier to program and thus somewhat likely? Or, I mean, there's always the 100% possibility that these things basically become "Copper Glass Block" and we all get disappointed and mad.
Looking at the key, i quickly thinking about the portal in a ancient city, maybe its for activate the portal mojang leaves us a mystic key, im exited to see what it is for. great video
1 big problem I have is how many ender pearls you can find in the chambers! Like I love the fact you can get Ender pearls relatively easily, but like… I got 5 pearls from half of one trial chamber
I'm looking forward to the coming "Surviving 100 days in a trial chamber" videos. 😂 Also I LOVE the new copper doors! Finally a door you don't need buttons or a pressure plate to open that isn't wood so zombies can't break it down.
The only problem with the door being the entrance and needing the Trial Key is that the key is found inside of the dungeon itself... So, it's almost like you gotta enter your house, but the house is locked and the key is on the inside. Get it? Unless you can get the keys within Ancient Cities, Common Dungeons and Abandoned Mineshafts... Whicy isn't actually a bad idea!
Toycat wasn't saying that door at the end would be the entrance to the trial chambers. He was saying it would be the entrance to a vault of some kind _within_ the trial chambers. Needing the key to get inside the trial chambers to begin with contradicts everything we've been shown so far. So they will likely be used for something within a room of the structure that we haven't been shown yet. Whether that be unlocking a new kind of locked chest, or activating something greater... we'll have to wait and see
My guess is that there will be some kind of block or vender that takes the keys and pops out/offers good loot. Disappointingly simple, I know, but that’s probably going to be the case.
Found a trial chamber that goes all the way down to bedrock. Haven't figured out the "proper" way to enter yet, but I did discover the copper blocks inside are all waxed. Right clicked on a copper block with an ax and got the advancement for scraping wax off a block. Does explain the honeycomb you can find in a chest every so often.
The tree room is the start. Every chamber has one, and it’s the equivalent of the ancient city centerpiece, in the fact that it is what generates first, and then the rest of the structure builds off of it.
There are 30 skeletons total in the “very vertical room” not 15… also, the copper grid pattern is not another variant, it’s going to be another room. I found the same thing at an intersection room which always has a room. There’s also another grid pattern that will be another room in the bottom of the corridor (you passed it in the first corridor you were in) looks like that will become a special room it’s only at the very bottom of a corridor, unlike any other room, and for both the grid patterns, the copper grate pattern can generate several times, meanwhile the one at the bottom of the corridor can only spawn ONCE it seems special
I hope the keys are either something you can trade for rewards or something that can be used to generate more loot inside of maybe a stone chest. Either way I think the purpose behind the key should be 1 key= 1 set of random rewards
If there is gonna be key locked doors. The trial chamber needs to give the player mining fatigue or some way to prevent players breaking blocks until its primary challenge is complete.
If its really a vault area, I think they would first generate a large stone/deepslate cube with just 4 blocks in each corner as a waymarker, then generate the rest of the trial room next to it
it makes me wonder, if they are changing difficulties, would it apply to how many spawners spawn in these rooms to some degree or what options are available in the 3 different categories of trial spawners, or the amount of monsters that can spawn at once from the trial spawners combined 🤔
I got way more than 5 trial keys, also the tree room is called the entry in the data. So it's either the entry to the trial chamber, or maybe an entry into a vault. Considering how many keys I have gotten and what I have seen other people get I think it more likely that they are working on some sort of locked chest.
Hey ibx, in every single chamber that I went to (about 5), there was always a silverfish spawner. So I think that they are, in fact, implemented correctly.
Every chamber (room) in the same structure, right? Trial chambers have categories of spawner (excluding the breeze): melee, small melee and ranged. One mob from each spawner category will be selected to appear throughout the entire trial chambers. So if you found one room with a silverfish spawner (small melee category) then all of the small melee spawners within that structure will be silverfish spawners. So you can't find spider and silverfish spawners in the same trial chambers, for example.
@@alliinase9076 Yes, I am aware. I am just saying that of the trial chambers that I visited, all of them had silverfish spawners, meaning it's not as uncommon as ibx says.
If you kidnap a mob from a trial spawner in a boat, does it stop the spawner from working until it gets killed or does it have a certain range or time limit or something? Also if the new copper stuff gets added to the wax on wax off achievement then taking a bunch of honeycomb with you might make it easy to get.
Considering how every other structure/spawner works in regards to local mob caps, it will likely consider a mob "dead" if it leaves a certain radius. However, due to how easy that would be to cheese after some prep, I wouldn't be surprised if Mojang implements some other behavior.
I actually think the trial key will allow us to reset the trial spawners quicker, but it's just my theory I hope we'll know soon what they are used for :)

Honestly it could be cool if this unlocked some way of getting a bunch of blocks that are meant to safeguard things like a vault is meant to do so you can make actual safe houses for your valuables. Maybe a vault door where it’s tied to a single player or only players with a trial key and blocks that are unbreakable except by the person who places them. That would be beneficial for people who play PVP which isn’t my thing but would help the community. I don’t think Mojang has the brains to do something like that though.
What I want to know is, if they’re wanting to announce things about the update in stages, why announce the biggest thing first? In theory, if they are not announcing the biggest thing first what can be bigger? They said that this update is focusing on combat and exploration. We have the combat from the trial chambers and some exploration. If we are thinking bigger the only things I can think of are, end update(which would not really match with the trial chambers), combat revamp(a good idea), and a new dimension( hinted in the ancient city). What do you guys think about this? It’s probably a big jump, but I’m just thinking about the potential.
You are the Carolus Linnaeus of Minecraft generation. Also is it just me or does the floating platform room look like it would be a great place to have a rave, with some mobs up on the platforms rocking out?
It was challenging but not too hard...And most of all really fun. Lets see what they do with, they can actually keep experimenting and making this better...And everyone wants the key to open the Ancient city portal but i think it realted to the spawner but it would be so cool if its actually reated to Ancient city portals..OH MANNN that will be so fun
I think you missed a secret room, in the official release, there is a secret room with a purple bed when digging into either the walls of the beds in the "bedroom" (I will call it). In the room is a room of dirt, pots, sometimes wool, and a purple bed
Fun fact: all of the trial chambers are randomly generated out of a room that contains "attachments", so I believe mixes of all those variants can be found...
Everyone has been worried about people just breaking through walls to get everywhere, but they kind of fixed that by actively encouraging you to break blocks.
@@MattiAntsuK Copper grates in certain parts of the Trial Chambers indicate that you are supposed to break them and the blocks around them to find the secret little rooms and areas that are around. But trying to dig through walls to get to where you want to go is just going to take longer than walking through the chambers, especially since the chambers are surrounded in Deepslate which will make it take longer to break through. So there’s really no need to add Mining Fatigue. It’ll ruin the parts that are supposed to be broken and anyone trying to bypass the rooms won’t have fun anyway.
The existence of the trial chamber is great synergy with their plans to rework combat, if they took this opportunity to add new weapon options or mechanical changes it would be seamless within the loot table. What is your weapon of choice to fight the trial spawners?
My first trial chamber I went to had the Trial Room Type 3 and the normal Staircase Room, and I think some hallways too. Wait since when is a Baked Potato called a Jacket Potato?
Did anyone else see that there were snowballs in that dispenser? That could possibly mean that the combat snapshot we saw earlier in the year may be coming to 1.21.
I thought that’s what snapshots were for? Implementing features to be added in the next update, one step at a time? And letting the community play test the update as well?
Testing it out today, we found that snowballs hurt the breeze. So it might be a sort of lottery thing where dispensers activated by a breeze can either hurt you, or the mob itself?
my theory is that Mojang asked Valve for advice and now they're giving us keys for free but we can buy crates that can be opened with keys giving us fun cosmetics like hats and clothes or different weapon skins
Whenever I dig under places like glazed rooms or under the pool area, I find diamonds there. I tried this a few times and I found diamonds in most of them. Is this my luck or are there diamonds forming underneath? I am a bedrock player.
It would be hilarious if the reason silverfish spawners are so rare is because they only spawn in a rare kind of chambers where the entire structure is built out of infested tuff bricks
Silverfish spawners are a real thing when i tested out trial chambers for myself the first time I tried my trial chambers had silverfish spawners inside!

This is probably it. Well said.
This is almost exactly like the vault, you predicted it!
Nice u got it right its the VAULT
Personally I think they should make it so you get Mining fatigue once you enter the trial chambers. So those players with pickaxes dont just break through it all (if the key is for a door).
The Trial chambers actually generate with like empty rooms, which get randomly filled with different interior designs.
This almost feels like the solution to the upgrade players wanted to the strongholds. It's a new challenge with tons of rooms and rewards of different lvls. I really love this building so far.
Still should make the stronghold harder and look nicer
20:30 I think there should be a small room behind it, but in it is a special type of chest, that works like a shulker box, where if broken, it drops itself with everything in it, but the contents of the chest can only be obtained if you give it a trial key, which comes in a slot, and to avoid using this as another version of a shulker box, once you feed the chest a key, the contents will now spill out when the chest is broken, like a regular chest.
The tree room is called the "start room", that weird copper door is meant to be found in a cave.
Steve is here to pitch random Minecraft ideas
1. New shields. Basically the same as the normal one, but not crafted with the more rare ores and rather more unusual materials like a glass shield or copper shield. Perhaps they could be given special functions.
2. New Enchantment. My idea is called Belt l, which all it does would give you an extra hot bar slot. This would be applied to the leggings hence the name “belt.”
12:07 I just did this exact room earlier today
100% my favorite structure in the game! I just love the idea of an enormous Dungeon, kinda reminds me a lot of The Aether II: Genesis of the Void (that's 100% Kingbdogz wanting to add his mod to the game bit by bit 😂)
A giant dungeon with so many challenges, new features and secrets...
I think you should keep some so you can keep collecting the loot. Maybe you could find a way to farm it instead
@@lavaboatcubesupportsukrain7539 I really don't have a reason to keep milking a spawner for Glow Berries when you alredy got an infinite cooked chicken and giant farmland above your base 😅
I'm probably using *most* of the Trial Chambers, probably leaving one or two spawners just for some friends or in case i die i can get at least some things back
Imo it be fun to have some puzzles in these chambers that lead to chests or more trial chamber that would make it just the best version of it self i think lol
Even better: items should pass through.
@@faust7756 the holes in the grate seem a little small for that but I get the idea
Looking at the key, i quickly thinking about the portal in a ancient city, maybe its for activate the portal
mojang leaves us a mystic key, im exited to see what it is for.
great video
1 big problem I have is how many ender pearls you can find in the chambers! Like I love the fact you can get Ender pearls relatively easily, but like… I got 5 pearls from half of one trial chamber
i think the key is for turning the spawners of and on but i hope its for the deep dark portal !!! ...
I'm looking forward to the coming "Surviving 100 days in a trial chamber" videos. 😂
Also I LOVE the new copper doors!
Whether that be unlocking a new kind of locked chest, or activating something greater... we'll have to wait and see
The more that I learn about the trial chambers the more that I realize that it is just pure chaos.
The door in the tree room is the entrance! Xumavoid made a deep dive of the trial chambers and release a video about it
My guess is that there will be some kind of block or vender that takes the keys and pops out/offers good loot. Disappointingly simple, I know, but that’s probably going to be the case.
I think making insides of trial chambers effectively adventure mode makes it better
@@Z0neXDthebest Update! Found the entrance at around Y level 0. Goes down to bedrock, which is very curious.
There's some new mobs like armadillo, bogged and breeze so many more like copper door, wind charges, copper trapdoor,Trial spawner,Crafter,Mace and Etch
Honestly the trial chamber is super cool 😎
There are 30 skeletons total in the “very vertical room” not 15… also, the copper grid pattern is not another variant, it’s going to be another room. I found the same thing at an intersection room which always has a room. There’s also another grid pattern that will be another room in the bottom of the corridor (you passed it in the first corridor you were in) looks like that will become a special room it’s only at the very bottom of a corridor, unlike any other room, and for both the grid patterns, the copper grate pattern can generate several times, meanwhile the one at the bottom of the corridor can only spawn ONCE it seems special
I can see them having a new armor trim in the vault you're proposing.
I hope the keys are either something you can trade for rewards or something that can be used to generate more loot inside of maybe a stone chest. Either way I think the purpose behind the key should be 1 key= 1 set of random rewards
2:10 They spawn. After visiting 2 trial chambers I found: (breeze), husk, stray, silverfish, poisonous skeleton, zombie and cave spider spawners.
Toycat is actually a legend
If there is gonna be key locked doors. The trial chamber needs to give the player mining fatigue or some way to prevent players breaking blocks until its primary challenge is complete.
If its really a vault area, I think they would first generate a large stone/deepslate cube with just 4 blocks in each corner as a waymarker, then generate the rest of the trial room next to it
I found a secret bed below the safe gate in one of my chambers
Watching this video as the people theorize what the trial key dose is funny since all it dose is open the vaults
it makes me wonder, if they are changing difficulties, would it apply to how many spawners spawn in these rooms to some degree or what options are available in the 3 different categories of trial spawners, or the amount of monsters that can spawn at once from the trial spawners combined 🤔
19:45 uhh yeah close enough lolll...
This man is a legend ❤️
4:06 sometimes i think an ominous vault spawns in place of that barrel, but it would be hidden by a wall instead cuz thats what i got.
I got the exact same vibe with that tree room
If you kidnap a mob from a trial spawner in a boat, does it stop the spawner from working until it gets killed or does it have a certain range or time limit or something? Also if the new copper stuff gets added to the wax on wax off achievement then taking a bunch of honeycomb with you might make it easy to get.
Considering how every other structure/spawner works in regards to local mob caps, it will likely consider a mob "dead" if it leaves a certain radius.
However, due to how easy that would be to cheese after some prep, I wouldn't be surprised if Mojang implements some other behavior.
You can find a lot of honeycomb in the tree room chests.
I actually think the trial key will allow us to reset the trial spawners quicker, but it's just my theory I hope we'll know soon what they are used for :)
That would be kind of anticlimactic.
@@HungryWardenRemember, the big giant statue thing that I totally didn't forget the name of in the middle of your Ancient Cities ended up being anticlimactic.
@@joelhoon1707 we don’t even know what it does, stop assuming things with no logic
20:07 the room with the door is called "entrance" whem you Spawn it with a Jigsaw Block, so i think thats what its gonna be, and Not much more. fun theory tho
Also is it just me or does the floating platform room look like it would be a great place to have a rave, with some mobs up on the platforms rocking out?
hey toycat, video idea: deoxidizing all the copper in my trial chambers in survival
19:44 “A vault door” wow u got the vault part right.
what if the key allows you to lock or unlock a single spawner?
It was challenging but not too hard...And most of all really fun. Lets see what they do with, they can actually keep experimenting and making this better...And everyone wants the key to open the Ancient city portal but i think it realted to the spawner but it would be so cool if its actually reated to Ancient city portals..OH MANNN that will be so fun
About the trial keys, my theory is that all the major loot chests will be replaced by stone chests, unlockable only with the keys
A dev said the tree room is intended to be the entrance, that's why it has normally wood tools, and a bed near by.
this update is already pretty big for only 3 snapshots about it, cant wait for the future of the snapshots
When I heard “jacket potato,” I unlocked a new level of confusion yet unknown to mankind
bro suspected the bog 3 months early
Fun fact: poison arrow skelettons in the powder snow room are the worst thing that can happen: poison stray that do both.
In that case I think they should add mining fatigue to the Trial Chambers. Just like with the Ocean Monument.
@@MattiAntsuK No that would make them worse. You’re supposed to break parts of the chambers. Breaking through walls is a waste of time anyway.
@@EpicRandomness555
You're saying breaking is allowed then it's a waste?
@@MattiAntsuK Copper grates in certain parts of the Trial Chambers indicate that you are supposed to break them and the blocks around them to find the secret little rooms and areas that are around.
But trying to dig through walls to get to where you want to go is just going to take longer than walking through the chambers, especially since the chambers are surrounded in Deepslate which will make it take longer to break through. So there’s really no need to add Mining Fatigue. It’ll ruin the parts that are supposed to be broken and anyone trying to bypass the rooms won’t have fun anyway.
The waterlogged basement had an ominous vault in my world
Did you know that there is actually loot in the big pots. I was really suprised when i found out!
The existence of the trial chamber is great synergy with their plans to rework combat, if they took this opportunity to add new weapon options or mechanical changes it would be seamless within the loot table. What is your weapon of choice to fight the trial spawners?
2:07
I literally found 2 silverfish trial spawners right next to eachother on my first one lmao
My favourite Minecraft RUclips channel
Baby spawner "worst thing mojang has ever done" Mojang introduces fantom spawner.
@@Z0neXDthebest The combat update snapshots started back in 1.16.
Testing it out today, we found that snowballs hurt the breeze. So it might be a sort of lottery thing where dispensers activated by a breeze can either hurt you, or the mob itself?
To be honest, they should be adding a seperate disc for this structure.
“Trial”
It looks like oxidized copper
Aww yes British English 😂 4:18
Sea gherkins anyone 😂
These structures are amazing man
my theory is that Mojang asked Valve for advice and now they're giving us keys for free but we can buy crates that can be opened with keys giving us fun cosmetics like hats and clothes or different weapon skins
I think the trial key could activate a boss spawner. Good reward for a challenge.
Whenever I dig under places like glazed rooms or under the pool area, I find diamonds there. I tried this a few times and I found diamonds in most of them. Is this my luck or are there diamonds forming underneath? I am a bedrock player.
It would be hilarious if the reason silverfish spawners are so rare is because they only spawn in a rare kind of chambers where the entire structure is built out of infested tuff bricks
my guess for the key:
maybe it's the thing that'll light up a potential ancient city portal?
I've never gotten a slime spawner, but I have gotten two silverfish spawners on separate occasions
Silverfish spawners are a real thing when i tested out trial chambers for myself the first time I tried my trial chambers had silverfish spawners inside!
