  • Interpol is the world's largest policing organisation connecting 190 member countries in the battle against international crime.
But as representatives of the global law enforcement agency met at their General Assembly towards the end of 2016, they faced questions over a crucial crime fighting tool.
In 2015, Interpol issued more than 11,000 "Red Notices" on behalf of member countries. These alerts inform countries that an individual is wanted for serious offences. It's then up to authorities in different countries to decide what action to take.
But human rights groups have suggested that some countries have used Interpol wanted notices to target political dissidents and opponents across borders, often with devastating consequences.
People and Power sent Sarah Spiller and Callum Macrae to investigate.

Interpol Secretary General, Jurgen Stock, is a complete tool and a typical bureaucrat who avoids answering the question honestly. Kudos to the journalist who held his feet to the fire (22:05). At least, she did her job while Interpol has lost all credibility in my eyes.

People should at least have the right to know what they are being accused of, and the mere fact that Interpol gets involve should allow them to decide wether the case merits a red alert, regardless of national autonomy. Some form of list of things that would disallow a red alert, like suspicion of political motive as well as a fine for false prosecutions to the states.

If only it were as easy for all nations to cooperate on feeding their people as oppressing them, just noting that. Law enforcement no better at policing itself than any other institution. We can all thank Synanon for outing the monster.

World wide people who are frustrated with this international crimes and there is no proper way to make their complaints and providing of information to Interpol. Because they can't trust their own country authorities. There should be a proper way to make their complaints to Interpol directly. Other wise people whom do this crimes will take the advantage of these points. Immediately solutions should apply to this matter.
    Regards
    Thank you
    Indika.
